Ola....
Project ZZR is well underway; off to pick up a new battery to breathe some life into the old bus, however whatever fuel that was left in the tank has now evaporated. I'm hoping that the carbs aren't gunged up....is it worth chucking in some fresh petrol in and having a go?
Is there anything i can add to the fuel to help flush the system (redex or similar?)
Cheers folks

got back in the wee small hours on Tuesday; stinking like a tramp but loved every minute.
If i figure out how i'll post some piccies; going again next year...taking a van this time to take more camping gear and beer!
-
That was mental - best final lap for ages.
Slightly o/t - how cool is Lorenzo's helmet?

Thats a nice looking lid - i love Arai's.
The master combo was bombproof when i worked at Hein Gericke a few years back, never bothered with it myslf though - i went with the Toureg kit instead.

17 DAYS TO GO!!!!
and 15 days till our departure: got the panniers and camping gear all sitting in the spare room ready to go.....a bit sad but there you are!
-
Depends on the fit of the helmet imho.
One of my first lids was an AGV Q3 which was well made and very quiet; i went to a shoei after that and found it terribly noisy but it wasn't as good a fit as the AGV and i'm wearing an Arai now which is quiet and comfy....what i'm trying to say is its different strokes for different folks. Go and try lots on and you should find that the comfiest, best fitting one should be the quietest.
On a related note, i had the AGV when i worked for J&S about 12ish years ago now and about 5 years ago i worked for Hein Gericke and found the quality of the newer AGV's to be not a patch on the older models **in my opinion**
Hope that helps.

Only 55 days to go peeps!

Great run today, and a mega amount of bikes out and about.
Kinda got left behind when my neighbour and his R1 went off to play with the 6 or 7 bikes that passed us around Sanquar, but caught up with him again after the lead hills.
Only for the 6 or 7 to overtake us again from outta nowhere, with the guy on the Busa doing some kinda pedalling motion as he went passed
Went across to Lockerbie, then to Langholm, and down to Hawick, up to Peebles, to Lanark and back to Hamilton.
A nice wee 250 mile trip, but boy am I shattered.
Broke the ton marker as well, just a wee bit , as my confidence grew and grew.
Some good roads there - my abiding memory of the Lockerbie to Langholm road is crashing my FZR400 and ending up in a field of cows

We are heading towards Dumfries area.
An excellent idea!

I've just bought a Furygan leather jacket off ebay (bargain), it has the facility to take a back protector (although the seller very kindly threw in a Dainese one - its not a great fit); i've had a shufty on the net and apart from one on ebay (that i missed) i can't seem to find anyone selling them.
Can anyone help with pointing me in the direction of one (or does anyone have a spare they'd like to sell on?)
Ta muchy.

Nice looking gloves.
Its all down to the fit...i used to have an AGV Q3 (Alex Criville rep - ask your dad/uncle) and that was a great fit. I think the quality of AGV lids has lessened over the years, I used to work for J&S 1997 - 2000 and then Hein Gericke about 4 years ago and i really noticed the difference. I never owned a shoei but there fitted ok - currently using an Arai Astro which i'm very happy with.
Dainese kit is nice although i'm not a fan of the gloves - they used to be a bit thin - i had a nice Daytona retro jacket but i used it very sparingly and then sold when i got a bit porky!
Have recently bought a nice Furgan leather jacket that seems pretty bombpoof!

Went for a wee blast to Muirkirk.
Such a brilliant day and loads of bikes out and about.
I was like a nodding dog.
My cornering seems to be getting better too.
Must be the weather.
Muirkirk from Strathaven via Dungavel perchance?

Sorry, i meant to say it is the rear shock i need to replace!
Thanks for the link Tim - i'll check it out
-
Ok, so they're not the best...i need to replace the original on my 600 D1 (its now )
I've been given a virtually split new one (500 miles) from a later E model - the question is: will it fit?

We now get the 2.15pm on the 6th June from Heysham.
You heading over on the Saturday?
We're on the 4am boat on the Thursday from Heysham, leaving with the Sanquhar posse on Wednesday night
Got booked into a campsite at Union Mills - where are you guys going?

Has anyone got any experience/know of these:

Thanks all...

I would try the Steam Packet people - we booked up this month, although we are only going 4th to 7th June, due to time/holiday/children constraints.
Staying in GlenLough (sp?) as well and sailing from Heysham on the 4am boat on the Thur.
Will have to leave SW Scotland about 11 on Wed night

D'oh!
Thanks for the feeback!

Ola,
I have a 1991 ZZR-600, the damp garage means that it is now siezed at both ends.
Tackling the back first; wheel off etc but a quick pump of the lever and no pressure, i've checked the pipes for kinks and leaks and nothing doing - the resevoir is full.
Is it time for a new master cylinder?
Any help gratefully recieved!
