1. You could look at a Varadero 125, they're bigger, and have a decent fairing, thing which you want if you gonna have to commute on it.
2. I hate people who have their eyes on the phone on the queue of traffic. They will put away their phones when I'm pointing at my gopro on the helmet and then at their phone. Priceless!
3. 'Countersteering' is the only way to steer a bike round a bend. https://youtu.be/8zD0EYOVDZ0
4. @ggogs01 It needed a new chain apparently. No more knocks now! And the gearchanges are smoother! Went for JT o-ring chain, they had it in stock and they've fitted it while I was waiting there. The sprockets are good, plenty of life in then. At least I won't have to bother with the chain for a long time now.
5. Out of interest, define low RPM? When I first got my ER6 there seemed to be a fair bit of advice at generally running it at around 3k-7k RPM. Which does take a bit of adjusting to when you've been driving a car for years and think as soon as you hear the engine whirring you need to change up. I mean going at around 2500-3000 revs though town and cruising in top gear at 3500-4000 revs . The bike doesn't feel out of place at those revs. Under 2000rpm you can feel that the engine is a bit shaky so a bit of clutch control to raise the revs and it's butter smooth as it usually is, speaking of 2nd, 3rd gear... I never took the rev-counter over 8000(honest officer) yet because it really starts to pull in a surge of power from 6500-7000, and there's a nice buzz(tingles) from the engine like it's being awaken Not prepared for that yet, it's plenty powerful under the powerband. Can't find the place and time to make the bike scream.
6. Since I have my Fazer a couple of friends have told me not to ride with too low rpm's since it can damage the engine... and that you need go stretch the engines legs from time to time, I get that, I'm doing it in the car as well. I just don't understand why it should be bad for the engine.

The Wasp!

Thanks guys! I would like to make some modifications in the future: -I want to install a higher windscreen or a touring one since the wind hits the top of the helmet(doing motorway speeds 70+), if i duck a smidge where's no wind hitting my helmet. I have seen the clip-on deflectors from PUIG, but they're expensive and they nearly cost as a proper windscreen, and I'm not sure if the shape of my windscreen is permitting. -I would like a slightly louder pipe(safer if you are being heard whilst filtering ) , not to excessive to upset the neighbours, since the original exhaust is louder compared to other 600's like my colleagues 2012 cbr600f. I was looking at Delkevic, getting a 400-450mm one, the original is 500mm in size, so that would strike my needs. Any suggestions? How can i tell which exhaust is loud and which isn't? -Crash bobbins, just in case if I slide. -A belly pan, to protect the engine/exhaust(it's stainless) -Heated grips, but the winter is nearly to the end so i will postpone this one until next winter.

The Wasp!

Finally found the time and enough light to take some pictures with the bike. The bike is a Yamaha FZS600 2002 Fox-Eye model, finished in yellow, in really good condition for the age. I bought her privately from a fellow biker, he's upgraded to a fazer 1000 so the 600 had to go! It has full service history, from the 1st 500 miles service, valve checks at 28k, to the current mileage of 45k, no expense spared(whole stack of receipts, service records), as per manual, carbs balanced, etc. The mot is valid until December 2019, no advisories apart from fork pitting... The battery has died on me after I bought it but that's a consumable so one trip to halfords later it was sorted. The bike is perfect for my needs, I'm using it for commuting and it's doing a great job, returning +55mpg without trying to hard, in a mix of city, filtering and fast A roads commuting. The bike is waaay smoother than the sv650 which I did my DAS on, and it shifts when you want it to, I have found doing speeds over the limit very easy so I need to be careful! Love the sound of the engine, I might add an aftermarket can later on. The brakes are very good. The lights are very bright, on par with the car's headlight. I got a hell of a lot of a bike for the price I paid for it! Planning to keep the bike for a good while.
10. Fazer 600 fox-eye model. Very good lights, comfortable, flickable, fun, good mileage(~57mpg, over 200 miles to the tank without reserve, that's another gallon left). Not that I'm biased
11. I'm with Bennetts, they're alright but since i have two bikes now i wanted a multi-bike policy so both bikes on one policy, but since i don't own a garage(security reasons, lol) that was not possible. So I had to sort out a new policy for the Fazer... Hopefully there will be no problems when i'll have to add my missus on the ybr's policy after her CBT! The prices seemed good with them so i've decided not to change insurers, maybe next year if the prices will creep up.
12. I'm using nikwax visor water reppellent, it does a decent job to keep my visor cleaner. I have to apply every other day tough.
13. Mine does the same in the morning, it's like a steam locomotive! Once the bike is warmed up there's not a single puff of smoke. It's normal. It isn't normal if the bike is warm and it gives out steam(head gasket) or smoke(air-fuel mixture, oil)...
14. And I bought it! Haggled it down to £1300 plus a tank of fuel on him(it was empty) and the bloke drove it to my place 35 miles away, saving me the hassle and fuel for another trip! The bike has all the service entries paperwork sincec the first service at 500 miles to the current date, plus valve checks at 28k service. And it's being serviced in December 2018 so no service for 6000 miles! Oh boy the bike goes like stink compared to the 125! It's likes turbine, roll on the throttle and it picks up speed smoothly, way smoother than the sv650 which I have learned on. Was grinning all the way to work this morning, overtakes are effortless!. The engine is really smooth after it's warmed up. I had to remind myself how to work the choke this morning. Happy days! Just have to Check the chain misagligment since I can feel the chain knocking at lower speeds, I'll to to he garage since I haven't got a powerful enough torque wrench(it needs 117nm and my wrench goes at 107 max)
15. MikeHorton that's why i have a friend coming with me so he can slap my hand just in case .
16. mikestrivens i'll give it a try with Total Car Check then. MikeHorton I can't seem to find one in my area! They're like £3000+. Not prepared to pay that much on a bike.
17. Thanks guys, i'll keep you updated. Just a thought. Is it worth to do a HPI check?
18. Hoggs That's good then! Thing is high mileage= poor resale value. So either you're selling the bike at a crap price or ride it until it falls apart. anth_85 This particular bike is only 30-35 minutes away from my town.
19. Looks good but the mileage! I'm not sure if clip ons will help me with the filtering... I have to do a fair bit of it sometimes! mikestrivens I'm gonna see the fazer Sunday! The guy has sent me a video with the bike, started it it and there's a slight rattle from the engine at the tickover, maybe I'm being paranoid lol, mine rattles(ybr 125) a bit then it's cold as well. I'll ask him to leave the bike cold so I can start it and have a listen.
20. I ha've found this in my budget: https://www.facebook.com/groups/438466776199441/permalink/2109349655777803/?sale_post_id=2109349655777803 Full service history, very good cosmetic condition Foxeye model(which I love), but it has 42k miles. The price is not bad as well. I'm a bit concerned about the mileage, since i will keep the bike for at least 1-2 years.
21. I don't want bandits, personal reasons. I did run an insurance quote on a fazer 600, it'll be around £350 per year, 3rd party, fire, theft, with 1 year of no-claim which i'll have at the beginning of february! . I really need to find the time to go and look at bikes, that's one of the biggest issue at the moment.
22. Bender It seems that in this rate there's nothing else to choose from!
23. Mack01 Yeah, I have sat on a fazer aswell, the box eye model, I like the positioning. A friend of mine is selling his so hopefully I can get it at a good price. It's vital that the bike has to be nimble because my commute involves miles of filtering sometimes.
24. Passed with 1 minor on mod 1 and 4 minors on mod 2! Wooo Hoggs Yes that's exactly it, server went down with my post! I'll write it up on mod1/mod2 experiences topics!
25. N reg and an insurance claim, hmmmm I don't think I would go with something that old, you can end up spending money on anything but if this is going to be regular transport I think I would be wanting a lot newer. Under 6k miles Yeah, Too old actually. Found this one: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201808309983377?advertising-location=at_bikes&price-from=1500&price-to=2500&radius=55&cc-to=600&postcode=ox281ud&sort=distance&cc-from=500&page=1 .
