I have changed the discs because apparently the old ones were warped when I've got the bike checked at the garage, so I bought these ones off flea bay(£50 for the pair 6 months old new), because I have been quoted £400 for the discs, without labour . I'll try new organic brakepads and fresh brake fluid, when I send the bike in to have the chain and sprockets changed. Lucky it's not noticeable at high speeds regardless of braking force, just at 5-20 mph slowing down at the lights/junctions. I'm using the bike to commute so using the bike is not a problem.

When I've mot'd the bike it showed up a slight fluctuation of brake effort in the front brakes... I Hoped that changing the discs will cure it, it did but briefly, then it started again...

Hey guys, I have noticed some deposits on my brake discs, how can I get rid of them? Could it be the reason why I feel a slight judder at low speeds when braking? Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I dont. It's annoying. These are relatively new discs, bought second hand, fitted by the garage and tested, no warping at the point. I had the same problem with my old discs which were scored and shot. The brakepads are relatively new, sinthered goldfren. Any suggestions?

The sense of freedom, the noises of the bike, and the speed of course, doing 0-60 in around 3-3.5 secs is no slouch I feel like in a different world when I'm riding.

My 2002 Fazer has got 52k miles, bought it at 42k, used every day, rain or shine, commuting, trips, down to Cornwall.... Apart from consumables I didn't have any issues with her. There are some spots of rust on the frame but I don't mind, its normal.

[mention]Copycat73[/mention] What he said. I had the same problem one morning, the bike started and then died suddenly, the spark plug died, and it looked alright visually. One new spark plug later, i was off on my way to work!

Cleaned her up before I've dropped her at the mot station! Fingers crossed!

I'm wearing earplugs every single time when I'm on my bike, from day 1. I'm to used with them, if I ride faster than 40 mph I need earplugs. If I nip in town where I dont exceed 30, its bearable.

Most of the time they wont even notice, especially if theres only a brush, and the stereo is a bit louder than usual. That'll be a good learning curve for you to appreciate gaps. They can't do anything legally I think, they can't prove that you've brushed their mirror? Maybe if there's a car behind with a dash cam, but not even then. Just to put your mind at ease, I've been there at one point, just learn from the experience. Hope that helps.

Hello, i'm getting frustrated in regards of using the normal aerosol chain cleaners, they seem to last only for 3-4 cleans, and owning 2 bikes which are being used constantly i get through a can every month, or even sooner, and they're not cheap! Are there any other cheaper alternatives?

speaking of gloves, i need to get me some better winter gloves, and heated grips.

I commute year round in my bike. I do work for NHS, but I haven't received a parking permit even tough I live 14 miles away from work, and I have to do on calls, which means sometimes I leave work at midnight, which means no reliabe buses...they expect me to take the bus 2 hours one way, no discount, nothing. Not gonna happen. And they will fine you when the parking managers say so. They will raid the staff carpark and nick people without permits or with expired permits. Shameful. Rant over.

My ybr is injected, no problems starting it in the cold. On the other hand my carb'd fazer takes some persuasion sometimes, when its really cold the choke is a must.

I have something similar like this, but the cheap version off amazon: My phone never came off it, even when touring/motorways/potholes... Mind you if your phone isn't waterproof it's a problem.

The manual for my 2002 Fazer says to check the slack on the centre stand, and it should be 30-45mm. I know when the slack is not right since the gearchanges are very sensitive. But the Haynes manual says to check the slack on the sidestand . It's easier to sort the chain tension on the centrestand... Finding the tight spot on the chain it's vital too, you dont want a ruined output shaft bearing, which on fazers is an engine out job...

We went out on a 3 day trip to Cornwall, Covering the New Forest(Sammy Miller museum), Dorset, Devon(Dartmoor), The Lizard Point, and Land's End! Amazing places! Avoiding the motorways completly, of course! My old fazer did very well! Looking forward for my next trip.

Another factor is the noise, wearing earplugs helps alot! I'm so used to them that I cant not wear them even when I'm commuting to work, which is a 25 mins ride on A roads. Over 50 mph and the wind noise is too much. Maybe I'm a pansy! But I like to keep my hearing.

Some in line 4's have a good deal of mid-range too, especially the old school carb'd ones, I don't know about the new injected ones. The power delivery is different anyways, and the feel, and the sound is glorious with a good quality exhaust. Low end power is next to 0 with inline 4's, under 3000 rpm there are no guts and the engine feels strained.

I have a Beowulf exhaust on my Fazer, which sounds amazing(not like stubby one, more like deep and full sound), not trackday loud but loud enough, it grumbles and pops on ovverun, without the baffle, and the engine seems to like it, no flat spots. Sounds like vacuum in the fuel tank? When it does it, undo the fuel cap and put it back on. You should hear air rushing in the tank. If the bike starts back up, you know where the problem is.
