Definitely overthinking it.
How many hours will vary between people due to experience and confidence.
Lots say Mod 1 is harder, and Mod 2 is a walk in the park.
I found Mod 1 easier, as it has more of a 'structure' that I could align myself with if you like.
I was bricking it on Mod 2 because that is essentially all down to me. In the end I did fine.
I had about three 1 hour sessions for Mod 1, spread over three weeks, and then the test.
With two 2 hour Mod 2 sessions, over two weeks, then the Mod 2 test. -
Echoing others, don't. It isn't worth it in the long run if anything goes bad. As it isn't like you could make your own 'contract' with them of your own
to cover yourself if anything bad did happen, and it is probably against the PCP/other contract you have yourself with the dealer.

He wanted to get rid of it but was far from mid term.
He sold it privately and rang his finance company for a settlement. Paid it and kept the balance. (Which wasn’t much)
It happens, and as long as you pay it off then no one is the wiser.
EDIT: He informed the guy that bought it that it was on finance and sorted it all out in front of him.I did EXACTLY this. Bike on finance, private sale. They knew it was on finance and I was paying it off with what they
paid me. I made nothing as I sold it for exactly what I owed on the finance.
Yes you aren't /supposed/ to do it this way. However like others say, they don't care so long as they get their money.
And don't delay in paying it off.

About right in NCL for me... Around £6-7 for the fish (most seem to use cod near me), £8.10+ for Fish and Chips (in a box). Also can vary quite a bit even
between shops that are on the same street.

You have it cheaper on autotrader, but you should get £4000 for it I reckon. Brand new one is £4399.
When nicer weather comes, I reckon you'll pretty easily get that price maybe a little lower.
It isn't the time that people will be looking for a bike at the moment due to weather. So just keep it up for sale.
Don't lower your price yet.

£270 you think is expensive? My first insurance was £1300.
Only MCE quoted less (around £500, with a £2000 excess).
And i'm not in London.
Pretty sure car NCB don't count at all towards mbike insurance?
Definitely go second hand Jap.
Easily recoup the money you spent on it if you get a good one
after a year it'll be worth the same.

Every year my Wife asks me what I'd want. I think of something and tell her and she always responds with
"That's stupid, I'm not getting that!!"
100% this. Although not a wife.
Then proceeds to spend the same or even more, on multiple things that are completely pointless/unwanted.

I had the same problem. Just been trying to find the ones I bought for my bike at the time and they aren't on ebay anymore under
the link I found of my order. But these look exactly the same.
REAR VIEW FOLDING MOTORCYCLE MIRRORS
The ones I had were brilliant. Bought them thinking they'd be rubbish but nope, good mirror and the folding works well never became
loose or anything.
And cheap. Don't know if they're correct fitting though for your friend.
I used some extenders too as they are a tad short.- 1

Your insurance WILL be ridiculous for the first year (at least). And as Stu said, your situation is a little more complex than online quotes
are going to be able to give you.
I'm still waiting to get my first big bike, passed Mod2 a month or two ago, and try insurance quotes on all the bikes I find that i'm interested in.So far, it ranges from £1500-£5000 - various engines from 650's to 1200 BMWs.
So expect to pay a stupid amount for the first year at least.
As for companies to go with, Hastings have been brilliant with me for cars. My first 125 I used MCE, never again. Pain in the arse. Swapped to Hastings which
was easy enough but didn't need to use them at all.
Then second 125 I used Bikesure. Always cost me just over £1000 to insure whoever i'm with for the 125's.- 1

Tbh I'm pretty skint atm so putting any tests on the back burner for now...if I did my mod 1 on a 700cc bike can I do a mod 2 on my 125cc just to get the L plates off and Never do a CBT again ? Just wondering as it's only £75
Pretty sure the test costs the same, no matter the size bike you use?

Well if she is doing DAS with a school, i'd assume they'll have said how they do it?
Example with mine if I remember it correctly; They allocated 12 hours tuition time. And it broke down like. 2 hours of Mod1 Practice then 1 hour close to the test (whenever was available to be booked).
Then three 3 hour slots practicing Mod 2. (More just riding out and telling you how/when/what/why of riding the motorcycle in preparation for the test.)Then a quick hour before the Mod2 test.
It will likely vary wildly between test centres. But if she'd ridden for 2 years on CBT and drives. Should be fine.
I am in no way a natural at it, and my DAS was spread over the whole of all the lockdowns pretty much. Massive gaps of no riding and managed to pass both.
Just treat it as another lesson. And also everything is much easier on a bigger bike.Give her the best possible chance? Don't stress. Let her use your bikes to get used to a larger bike if you like - not on the road as no insurance obviously

I want to do them. Once I get a bike. If I knew exactly when that would be i'd try getting booked. They seem to fill up very fast.
Bikesafe is what I really wanted to get on to, but have absolutely no availability near me. Or have stopped doing them completely.

the Honda Rebel has ideal ergonomics but its only an "A2" bike.
Are you including the new one? Rebel 1100? If you can find one. Low and not forward controls.

You probably have already, but putting on fbook marketfullofwnkers will get some interest. As will preloved and others
at least for free advertising. You will get a LOT of absolute wnkers though too.
The price is right, people just don't want to pay it. You may be in it for the long haul if you want to keep it at that price (which I would).I'd mention they hold their price extremely well too. If kept in good condition.

I mean, if you've done Mod1 then doing the Mod2 is exactly the same . Surely where you did DAS, the center would help out
sorting out MOD2 again and for you to use their bike?

Always fully comp. Have fun seeing the eye watering amounts they want to charge you.

I am considering whether it's worth going down the road, as it were of getting into motorcycling if I don't have a secure garage or parking space for my motorcycle.
I know you can insure and purchase effective locks etc for a bike, but I'm concerned that thieves could just pick it up and stick it in the back of a van.
The bike would be parked outside my apartment building in my car parking space, that is tucked around the back of my apartment building, so not on the main street, but still not secure as it were.
Any advice welcome, thanks
Same boat. Looking to get my first big bike, and was going to wait for the actual purchase of one until i've managed to get a house of my own, with a garage. That'll be about 1yr and a half away.
But decided I just can't wait that long, and i'm going to risk getting one and having it in my parking space behind the houses I live and jamming my car up against it. Along with disclocks, chains, and anchored to a lampost. And tracker.
Only you know if it is worth the ballache, if you know your area etc - Like has been repeated, make it as hard to nick as you can to stop oppurtunistic w@nkers.
If an organised bunch want your bike, then nothing is going to stop them. Even being in a garage. And that is all you can really do, is make it hard for the scrotey ones.
51 minutes ago, Six30 said:get something Chinese , no self respecting thief would look twice at it.
Sadly, not true anymore. Heard of a lot of them being stolen/attempted-to-be stolen around here. Mainly oppurtunistic thefts and for just ragging around and destroying.
But lots being taken. Even things like the Terrain, which isn't exactly a crazy bike, is being targeted.

That is one of the XL125's FB groups, might find someone on there.
But it is a good bike. Quite large/heavy for a learner (I found) but very nice bikes.
Also keep their value exceedingly well. I lost nothing on mine after a year of having it.- 1

12 hours ago, Steve_M said:There’s absolutely no requirement to do Bikesafe or equivalent before IAM / RoSPA.
I would contact the local group and just take it from there. In my experience they are, for the most part, friendly and welcoming and supportive of anyone wanting to improve their Roadcraft.
I looked at them all and I realise that. But it is definitely something that I’d like to do as it’s all practice and tuition to improve riding. I’m a new rider, few weeks passed, without even owning a bike right nowdefinitely could do with the advice.
and bikesafe seems more like a ‘CBT’ style thing where you don’t have a ‘test’? So would be a nice to have that experience before taking on actual tests which the IAM/ROSPA appear to be.

Sounds good to do. Did they actually help with improving any aspects of your riding etc. was there things you were doing wrong/badly
that they picked up on and suggested ways to improve?
I'd like to get onto a BikeSafe course and then complete one of the advanced rider courses (IAM/ROSPA/ERS),
just a shame they don't do them up here. Would have to travel down to York area and they're all full up.
I need a bike first too. So that would help. ;D

Slightly bored of this obvious trolling. And this just proves you're doing it. Not difficult to do figures of 8, u turn has enough space, slalom cones far enough apart and its all ezpz no problem.
But you've never ridden.
I doubt i'm the only one to think that the u-turn space looks tiny when you're not used to doing u-turns and are new to riding. Hell, I touched the line on the test.
Please just take peoples advice and accept the ones that seem logical and make sense, and is how you want to ride. Once you actually start riding that is. You'll not know anything until you do.
