  1. Hi guys. I have a honda cbr125r 2004 model and basically the engine that's in it is not worth repairing. (Costs way to much)

I have found an engine to buy but it is from a 2007 model which is fuel injected rather than carb.

Does anyone know if there Is any differences between these 2 engines? Will there be any problems or will it connect straight up?

    Thanks.

  2. Hi guys. Can anyone recommend a good battery charger that is quite cheap as well. I need it for a 12v 6amp battery and a 5 amp battery. As they are both a little flat.

    Thanks.

  3. I don't know if you already know this, but there will be a seal around where the starter motor goes into the engine to stop water getting in. This can make them a tight fit, are you just being a bit of a jessie?

Haha nope it was stuck on there pretty bad. Have now manged to get it off :D

  4. Ok, I can only suggest trying to knock it one way and another until you free the seal where it plugs into the casing. It's in a fairly exposed location so maybe a bit of corrosion has set in . Try some penetrating oil and then jiggle it up and down whole tapping it from the alternator side . Don't hit anything directly with a metal hammer though like in the useless video I found. Good luck.

OK thanks. I'll try that and hopefully It will eventually come free.

If you need any advice on servicing it when you do get it out let me know, I did one recently.

Thank you. That would be helpful. I'll let you know how it goes when I've attempted to get the starter motor off

  5. Hold on there , have you had the alternator cover off yet ? I think you're going to have to get in there anyway when you put it back on . Starter motors are usually a tight fit but don't hit it directly with a hammer, use a piece of soft wood pressed against it and hit that.

I've got the alternator cover off yes. I've tried popping it out from that way as well but it still won't move

  7. Hi everybody. I'm having some real trouble with my Honda cbr125r. I have managed to diagnose that the starter motor is not working. Now the problem is that I can't get the thing off the engine to change it. I have taken all the necessary bolts off but the thing won't budge at all I've even hit it with a hammer a few times but still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? As it's really annoying me now and I can't ride it until I take the old one off and put the new one I have on.

    Thanks

  8. Does it do it if you give it a bit of extra throttle as you change down?

Does it do it if you don't change down? E.g. Come to a stop in 2nd.

Carb is definitely your most likely suspect if no other issues to go with it, as for idle set at right speed when was it set? Was engine fully warm? Is it doing it every single time or when it's hot/cold?

Give it a tweak up a bit see if it makes a difference

I set the idle speed when it was fully warmed up. Yes it does it everytime and takes a minute or two to turn back on.

  9. Is the new carb stock or an attempt at tuning? Is it set up to standard jetting with the pilot screw set correctly?

Is the clutch free or has it possibly seized? My CX500 would stall going into first (bear in mind it sat for over 30 years) until I changed the clutch.

The new carb is stock. I have set it to factory settings. Also the clutch is free because I can put it in first and it rides but then the bike just cuts out when slowing down

  10. I have a problem with my 125cc. I can put it in first and it rides well but then when i come to a stop and drop it to first it completely stalls and takes a few mins to turn back on.

Any help on this would be great.

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place not sure where to put it.
