  1. OK so when my bike is in neutral if i quickly open the throttle wide there is a pause where the revs die and then the revs kick in. If the bikes cold this 'pause' can cause the bike to stall. What could be causing this? It seems to be fine when riding it, although maybe its becuse i never open the throttle that quickly? I really want to sort this out asap!
  2. Yeah but im a bit confused as on ebay they have a lot of YTx9-BS batteries and some of them say they are for different bikes As long as its a YTX9-BS battery it should fit my bike right?
  3. any reason why i shouldnt go for the battery i linked in the first post?
  4. Well my battery loses charge very quickly and i think its come to the end of its life. I *think* the battery code is YTX9-BS, is there anyway to check this? On my current battery most the code seems to have rubbed off! If that is the right code can i buy ANY YTX9-BS battery? such as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NUMAX-YTX9-BS-CTX ... 255b48814c ?? Thanks!
  5. well just bought a bike it trickle charger from halfords for £25 but as i actually have a charger at home (im at uni) im just going to charge my battery up overnight then take it back to halfords and say it was the wrong one
  6. would this be suitable to charge my bikes battery? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... HARGER.htm
  7. nah il def need to charge the battery / jump it as last time i let the battery go flat it was a bast*rd to start even after id charged the battery, i think the carbs get gummed up or something
  8. Im looking for a cheap battery charger, does this look any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Battery-Trick ... 27b26c7162 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTORBIKE-MOTORCY ... 519336aa37 they are realy cheap but i only need to charge the battery up once as im about to leave uni and my bikes battery is completely flat the other option would be to jump it off a car battery, would this be safe to do? its a cbr 600 fy.
  9. no idea! only fitted it today but then got caught up in holiday stuff (going sunday) so didnt get a chance to take it out will give it a thrashing when i get back! Just a carbon stubby + a few more little bits and bobs and i will be happy with it
  10. Well the screen came today and fitting it was a breeze. Before: http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs020.snc1/4243_202765475712_552770712_7111340_904218_n.jpg After: http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs196.snc1/6613_238384510712_552770712_8031062_7393718_n.jpg http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs196.snc1/6613_238384530712_552770712_8031063_1427926_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs176.snc1/6613_238384545712_552770712_8031064_7609080_n.jpg What do you think? I think its heaps better, it came with some black screen trim stuff aswell but it loks pretty ghey so i wont bother with that.
  11. Yeah the FS model has the split seat, the cowl must be off an F-1 model. Il PM you the link so maybe you can tell me whether it looks the same as yours (if thats alrite!). Haha im slowly turning my bike into yours!
  12. I've seen a single seat cowl for sale from a 2001 CBR600F, anyone know whether it will fit an FY model? The seats certainly look the same from pictures but i'd like to be sure.
  13. Just bought a dark tind airblade double bubble screen for £40, seems a lot for a peice of plastic!
  14. ah ok, one other question - some brands have dark smoked/tint and some have black screens,is there much of a difference between the two? My bikes got a black fairing on the front so i'm after a screen that looks black
  15. i want to buy a smoked windscreen for my CBR and have found one on ebay for under £18 buy it now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CH08D-Windscreen- ... 7C294%3A50 Does it mater if the items not e-marked? Will cheaper ones actually be anyworse than something like an airblade screen (cost over £40)??
  16. Yeah it doesnt mention it in the manual, i think as my wear indicator is almost at the red i was hoping that i had overtightened it and it would last longer! ah well how much is the average cost for a new chain/sprockets?
  17. I've heard that its good to adjust the chain when theres someone of the riders weight on the bike. I've recently adjusted my chain to 2.5cm of play so when im on the bike would this make the chain too tight or too loose?
  18. oh didnt realise they were from ebay! what should i be seaching for on ebay then?
  19. So its not just a case of buying something like this: http://beowulf-performance-products.com ... 6&catid=31 and doing a straight swap? What else would i have to buy?
  20. What sort of brands should i look for? i'm basicly after a lower and louder tone to the exhaust but i dont want it stupidly/ deafeningly loud. I will go for a road legal as i dont want to fuss with changing cans at mot time of getting pulled, are road legal ones decently loud? I'm not sure about my budget but it probably going to be towards the lower end of the spectrum as i'm skint! Do you always have to mess with the jetting when putting an aftermarket can on? and one last question - whats a slip on?
  21. its a honda cbr600FY Absolutely love the bike but the stock exhaust is a bit too whiney for my taste, need something that'll make the bike sound a bit meatier and give the bike a soundtrack it deserves!
  22. Is there anyway to make a stock exhaust louder or give it a lower tone? or am i going to have to fork out for an aftermarket can?
  23. Will be in the service manual, if you dont have one then you can probably download one easily.

    Reserve tank

How many miles can you get out of the reserve tank on a 1999 Honda CBR600F? At the minute i usually stick about £12 of petrol in every 150 miles or so and have only had the petrol light come on once. Nice to know so i dont get stranded anywhere!

    Relay Prices

I've just done the same thing to my CBR, i shelled out about £17 for a motrax flash it relay because i dodnt want to deal with cutting wires etc which some of the cheaper relays require. I also bought bike specific indy leads again to avoid having to snip wires and change connectors so i can swap back to the origninal indicators easily when the time comes to sell my bike. Check out http://www.worldofpower.co.uk for cheap indicator stuff
