  1. Don’t really remember first one, probably wasn’t so bad or because I did fell so manny times. But will be at around age 13-14, from some 50 cc scooter of that time. I was born near by race track and spent many of my young days on it attempting to copy real racers. So kissing the tarmac was just ordinary thing.

  2. Hi I heard many horror stories from both friends and family urging me not to get a motorbike. However I need a cheap way of commuting and bikes are much cheaper than cars - not only this but I love motorbikes!

But I was hoping people could answer me a few questions:

1: From your own experience how unsafe are motorbikes? How many years or miles have you done and how many accidents have you had?

2: How bad is it riding at winter? How worried do I have to be when there is black ice, salt, and or rainy conditions?

3: How cold is it when you ride in cold winds, bearable?

4: How dangerous is it riding at night + rain.

The above questions are my main worries if you guys could share your views it would be much appreciated, ty.

From all of the above it sound to me you are not very interested in motorcycling.

If is just mean of transportation than definitely you have some better options.

If is passion than nothing can stop you. :booty:

Motorcycle is dangerous as much as person who rides it.

Obviously there’s is no protection as you have it in the car and any contact will bring you down to the tarmac. That’s why good gear can reduce injuries.

Don’t forget there is no biker who didn’t fell, just those who did and who will. :thumb:

  3. So last night I came home (I’ve been working in London all week) and I had this massive urge just to open the garage and have a nosey. Not sure what made me do it but I just stood there admiring my bikes for a few minutes before closing the garage up and going in the house with a smile on my face. Surely I’m not the only person who’s done this?

    Every day,

    Am I weirdo

  4. I did my drving tests over 30 years ago, if I have to take another test today I would fail it strait away. 100% :thumb:

Probably you that was going round he roundabout with the wrong indicator going then.

No I don’t use indicators at all, especially not in the roundabout, just 2 much hassle.

Except when in hurry and going wrong direction (anti clockwise) :angel12:

  5. 3 weeks 😱

I think you deserve some quality biscuits :D

Yup, when I asked how long I had to wait until I could try again, 10 days seemed gutting. Until I saw what was left :( My biggest worry is how awful the weather might be. Risk of cancellation higher!

I was feeling normal again all afternoon and evening but my friend and the person I was training with just posted herself cutting up her L plates and now I feel sad again :( I think thats why I've taken it out on the 125 by refusing to ride it now... it's still on L plates so Im going to pretend I never failed or even took a test by pretending it doesnt exist for a little while!

Yes, Im having a tantrum.   Ill be level headed again in the morning!

    Don’t worry

Repetition is the mother of learning. ”Repetitio est mater studiorum” (“Repetition is the mother of learning”), says the Latin proverb.

    More luck next time :thumb:

  6. I did many different riding courses from safety courses to race driving courses did many track rides and road rides, however I am sure that many of us regardless safety courses or not will not after 20-30 years so easily pass the driving test.

I remember when I did it ages ago, first thing before even sit on the bike it was to test all the lights indicators etc, I never did it after getting my driving licence. As well to stop on the stop sign or full line it was and I think it is still mandatory. If I see that all is clear or I have enough time/space I will just pull out. And many other silly things, I know because I had to go through that with my daughter recently when she was taking her driving licence.

  7. We'll that's a new one .http://www.sprocketsunlimited.com/Chainmaintenance.html

Here they say do not use wd40, internet is full of various tests where o rings and x rings were immersed in wd40, for months and no damage observed, so who is laying

Correct, do not use WD40 , you require a lubricant and not a water dispersant. ( WD ) The internet is full of lots of things including angels , aliens , ancient giants and talking cats . You do what you believe to be right and good luck to you . Meanwhile I'll keep my chain smothered in good quality chain lube . 😁

I was thinking about using wd40 for cleaning purpose before applying lubricant, not using wd40 as lubricant

  8. I have an X-ring chain, I clean it using paraffin from a 5l tub from the BBQ section of the local supermarket then wipe off the excess. The chain and sprockets aren't supposed to be wet.

  9. Most of today’s products are good as long you clean your chain often and lube it. Lately I used Motul chain lube paste and it’s ok

As well if using spray bottle, I got greaseninja, it’s good, prevents wasting and applys grease whet it need to.

Most important is to clean the chain before every greasing, Greasing over the old dirty grease is contra productive.

I do it every 500-600 miles but I ride mostly on dry roads, if driving on wet or in the winter with grit and salt than much often every 300-400 miles.

I am not sure how effective Scott oilers are and similar products, would like to here some experiences , how long chain will last.

Anyway using scottoiler doesn’t mean you are free from cleaning the chain, good clean Fromm time to time is essential for chain life.

  10. 20 - 30 years ago sci- fi movies predicted what will be today, pretty close, I am happy I am old enough and will not witness 30 - 40 years from now. Total control, cameras will be in our homes including microphones you will not be able to fart freely withot punishments.

Microphones will be in our homes? They already are, Alexa, Cortana and Siri. Etc.

I turned off everything :notworking: :notworking: :notworking:

  11. I had my picture taken whilst I was out riding on Sunday and as I have no other pictures of me actually riding my bike I couldn't resist in parting with some cash to buy them.

Played with the colours a bit myself on this one.... The background of Chesil Beach is nice but I couldn't resist making the Kawasaki Green stand out

Nice pic, should print it and make a wall paper for the garage

  12. Not sure if 100 deg Celsius is normal, my bikes didn’t get so hot in the middle of summer in Croatia where use to be almost 40 deg.

Maybe your cooling is not working and termo switch will not let it engine run or start if overhead.

Check cooling systems and termo switch

Fan should start at around 80 or 90 deg

  14. Any waterproof cover with decent ventilation will work, I use to park my bike for 4 to 5 months on the driveway (working on cruisers), just with the decent cover and no rust ever appeared. important is to have enough air to circulate around. Of course XCP or similar treatment will help as well.

Anyway from security part will be better something solid like Asgard motorcycle shed, and insurance will be pleased
