  1. I am new to all this biking thing and was wondering whether anyone ws going out for a ride on Saturday? Not a quick racer type ride but just a jolly jaunt!
  2. Thanks guys - Just been out to Knott End on it as ma & pa live out there - oh how much fun ........ and the acceleration
  3. Okay so you wake up at 6 am look out of tghe window and it's snowing Luckily it has turned to rain by 7!! Arrive at the test centre at about 10 am as another guy is taking his test and 10:15 - my test is at 11:11. Sit in the waiting room and as the time goes by you can hear the wind getting stronger and more blustery Are they going to cancel the tests Luckily no - asked the usual questions at the beginning icluding the pillion one which I blanked on but the instructor was really good and just asked me the question again and I answered okay. The ride was to say the least eventful - my visor for the first time decided it would be a good idea to mist up so it's twitchy bum time do i lift it and ride with it fully up whilst still moving anyway decided to lift it fully then it start snowing/hailing/raining so I drop the visor so it's just up a little. hile all this is going on the examiner is telling me to turn left at the next lights - which I do but then go straight on but the road actually goes off to the right and I go on thisother road that is straight up. Now I am thinking shit shit shit. He takes me on all the roads in and around a park and a golf course - steered clear of any open roads due to the high winds. I knew I had left my indicator on a little too long on one turn - think i was avoiding some potholes We got back to the test centre and I didn't think that i had done very well at all - however the examiner thinks differently and says that I had 3 minors and that I have passed I asked if I had gone the wrong way and he said No - happy days!! Now the proud owner of a new XJ6S Diversion
  4. Well the day was fine but cloudy and turned upnice and and early to do a little bit practice and to see a couple of others do their tests. I found that I was nervous but not too nervous and spoke to the examiner with respect but also on the same level if you know what I mean. Anyway, started off well into the car park space doing all the obs. In and out of the cones was okay and the figure of eight went well. On to the swerve test again obs when setting off and through at 56kph. Next the u-turn and no problems again with all obs. The slow drive was where i picked upmy first minor for no right ob (i thought I did but hey ho). this was the part that I felt really nervous about but the examiner walked at a reasonable speed so no problems. Then the emrgency stop through at 60kph but picked up next minor for taking a little too long to stop. Was greeted with the news once back into the room with 'I am pleased to tell you that you have passed!!'. Strangely I was more nervous after than before the test. All I can say it's a great feeling but my advice would be to get a few lessons as they really helped. On to Mod 2......
  5. Good luck Gareth - I don't know how old you are but if you have any driving experience you should be okay. I found using one of the discs that you can get very useful. Mod 1 Test week on Sunday
  6. Actually got off my bum an did it today............ and passed Loooking to do Mod 1 and Mod 2 soon
  7. If you had a bike 20 years ago you'll have no bother with your CBT. It's ride round a cone here, do a u turn there, do an emergency stop over there, and ride round town without causing a pile up. Hope you're right!! It's strange how things get harder when you get older........................................................well not all things
  8. me well had one 20 years ago and then girlfriend, married, kids etc.!!!! also now it's easier for work and i can escape the madhouse more easily. plus loads of medical problems and thought what the hell i loved it all those years ago why not enjoy now!! saying all this i have to pass my cbt on friday!! oz
  9. Hi, Anyone know a reasonably priced place that will give good advice to newbie when buying Helmet, Boots, Gloves, leather Jacket etc preferably around the Blackpool/Preston area? Cheers Oz
