  1. I'm gonna sell these leathers on, no point having them if they don't fit! Saw a couple of good deals on eBay, but I think I'm gonna try on some in shops first 'til I find what fits. And er, after having taken my measurements I think a bit of excercising and less chips might be in order before I purchase some!
  2. I go out at night and in rain quite a bit, and without having a topbox and no underseat storage, I decided against tinted visor or insert and am using sunglasses instead. They're designed for motorbikes, have foam padding around where they contact yer face and work very well! Saves the hassle of switching visor when light gets low and, being sunglasses, very quick to take on and off. Cost me £20 Is also good when yer in traffic because even when yer visor's up your eyes still have protection from wind and grit.
  3. Well I just bought a set of leathers and boots from a friend of mine, but unfortunately they are er, a bit massive. Size 48 (I guess I'd be around 32" waist) - is there anything worth doing that could make them wearable? I thought the jacket fitted pretty well, but on reflection back at the house it is also a bit big, but a much better fit than the trousers. They're in pretty good condition and I got them for a song.. would be nice to be able to salvage them!
  4. In practical riding I like lefts best, camber's in yer favour and no trucks to decapitate you. I find the old 'see your death' of the oncoming a bit off-putting when doing right handers but the difference isn't that much, just have to pay a bit more attention to road positioning on the right hand bends. In an ideal scenario, say a private road with the right camber on every corner I don't think I'd find any difference.
  5. Got a heads up from a guy know from work and turned up just as they were packing up the promo - turns out my local store has too small a store room for all the stuff! Asked the guy if I could have a quick look through the cardboard box and got myself a tank bag and waterproof overalls (not the season I know.. but there'll be a winter next year. Plus they have BLUE parts to MATCH my bike ) for £15 each. Unfortunately most of the stock was gone or I woulda got a couple of pairs of the socks too. They also have chains, socket set, trousers, jacket etc
  6. Cheers for the tips. I'm looking at these at the minute http://www.motorcyclesunglasses.co.uk/sunglasses.html although that could more be the result of them being the first on the google search than exhaustive research, though they do have a very good review. One thing I'd like to hear people's experience on is the polarising/normal difference. Do polarised lenses significantly cut down on road glare? That seems to be the claim, but it's not something I've had the opportunity to test. Also what do ye reckon of the price of thems glasses on the link? I was thinking of the smoked ones. That said, £10 sounds more my sort of pace than 40!
  7. Anyone wear sunglasses to cut down on glare? I'm not really over the moon with my current lid so don't wanna shell out money for a tinted visor, and last Sunday I reached the end of my patience with low winter sun and wet roads. Made me cry.. well, water came outta my eyes. For most of the journey I was thinking if you did have a spill, then sunglasses inside a helmet probly ain't the best idea, anyone heard any horror/oh-actually-it's-fine stories about that? Or have any cheapo recommendations for cutting down on glare (squinting does not count!)?
  8. Hammer? I had a completely dissimilar problem on my Hornet, don't know if what I did will be of any help to you, but what else is the internet for other than tangentially related posts? Fitted washers to restrict her and this extra clearance stopped the cylinder head / carbs / airbox fitting properly. Slacked off all three and jiggled them about 'til the difference was split and tightened everything up again.. might help? Good luck anyways, get the rubbers as warm as possible and that'll help with fitting. Edit: Check for skew between the carbs/airbox/cylinder head. Skew is a bast*rd in all things.
  9. I found myself dangerously distracted by the excitement of getting a nod from a real biker when I was on L's I still feel a noob because I only got a few months experience, but I'll nod at most bikes that I see (not spides on scooters though.. there's too many of them wearing t-shirts and tracksuits buzzing around at 40 where I live, it's a heavily built up 20 zone with parked cars and kids everywhere...) and often get a nod in return. I'll feel a bit better about nodding at proper bikers once I get my first big bike though! Is a great feeling though, like you're part of a community and that there's some friendly faces on the road that ain't trying to kill you. Speaking of waving to kids - first time a wee kid waved at me from the inside of a car stopped at the lights I just stared dumbly, thinking "but, but, I'm a noob on L's - I'm not some kind of cool motorbike person". Next time it happened though I gave a wave and the kid was jumping up and down with excitement I kinda like to think they'd remember that and then get into bikes one day.. you know how things can stick with you when you're younger lol
