Try a small flat headed screw driver under the lip of the clip as far as you can get it in then lift it up and with a bit of luck it should move! You might need to jam something in each one to keep them held back whilst you do the next one. Good luck!

Welding it would be the best option but it's not something I can do myself today if you get what I mean. So I had a closer look at my exhaust system to see why it was rattling and then I found the reason.. The bolt that holds the exhaust down pipe (just after the end can) had come lose and the nut is nowhere to be seen so with all the vibrations the exhaust had worked itself lose and wasn't secured properly so I've replaced the bolt with a bigger one and will get some lock tight on the nut. For now as a temporary fix I've put the exhaust putty back on as I believe the pipe had moved rather than the putty so we'll see what happens with that one, them spacers are a brilliant idea! Might well invest in some of them. Cheers everyone

I've got an after market exhaust on my bike that the previous owner fitted which sounds awesome but where the old exhaust system meets the new one the pipes are different sizes not by much but enough for it to blow and recently start rattling. I've tried exhaust putty which I put on after riding so the pipe was hot and it set as it should but when I went for a ride today I noticed it had turned back to its liquid form and been blown away from the joint. So I now need a different way to seal the gap I've seen exhaust bandages and also exhaust wrap but which one is best or are they pretty much the same thing? I need to paint the exhaust soon anyway as it hasn't been done and with winter and the salt approaching I'd rather get it done sooner or later. The exhaust wrap I've seen comes in lengths long enough to go along the entire length of the exhaust which if it's a proper seal would mean I wouldn't need to paint the exhaust pipes so two birds one stone. What's your opinions? Cheers. Adam

I don't understand why you'd want to run the bike without lights anyway, what advantage does that give you? You're safer with your light on all the time!! Also you'd only be allowed to ride it during daytime and with winter coming the light will soon fade away quicker and quicker so that will cut your riding time, and if you go out and it gets dark quicker than you expected then you're screwed. Otherwise just buy a pit bike.

Rear brake problems
Adam replied to mightysaints's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
Sounds like the same problem I had with my rear brake, one of the sliders had seized so the brake pad closest to the wheel wasn't moving and the other one was doing all the work. I ended up buying a new caliper but with patience an lots of WD40 you could probably free it up if that is the problem. -
Riding this winter? Get a Pinlock visor
Adam replied to Lumor_uk's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I second that! Awesome piece of kit yet so simple, mine came with my helmet as standard and it is really useful if you like to know where you're going without freezing your face off and ending up looking like Rudolph. -
That's a good idea but then I'd have to find somewhere to store the box and seat, and I don't have anywhere for either! I really need a shed...

I have this helmet and I'd say the wind noise isn't that bad above 50mph to be honest I can't say I've noticed it. It's very comfortable with removable pads so you can wash the sweat out from those long summers day rides. And the D lock strap although a bit awkward to do up with gloves on is very secure and easily adjustable. Oh and it looks awesome! Mine has a big star on the side with a white outline and black in the middle which is sparkly.

As said above your indicators and lights run on the same circuit so if your indicators work it's not the fuse.

Try this forum http://www.nsr125.co.uk/index.php?action=forum it's a dedicated forum for NSR's from all ages so give that a go. Sorry Mods if I'm not meant to post links to other forums!

I think clip-on is just what they call them, they are the conventional ones. I assume because there's two of them rather than one big one that might be why. Just have a look at the pictures and see if they look like the ones you already have, don't worry about the holes in the ones in the picture you'll need them to keep your kill switch and throttle in place
-
Have you checked all the connections to make sure they're a tight fit? Also if you have plug connectors check the pins inside for corrosion because it sounds like a poor connection to me. If they are corroded then remove the plug part and get some sand paper and rub the pins down until they're nice and shiney again a bit of WD40 maybe speed up the process as well. Good luck!

As the others have said check the obvious things first, are you sure it's not in gear even if the neutral light is on it can be a false one so might be worth putting it into first and back into neutral. If its not any of the obvious things then try the last easy thing which is the fuses, chances are it might not be them but its worth a try!

The handle bars on the 2004-2009 CBR's are universal according to this seller on eBay http://bit.ly/1ao1vfQ and if that's the case you can get yourself 2 new clip ons for £30 posted here http://bit.ly/1ao10Te them just sell the left hand one and make some of your money back

I don't think I'd trust other road users enough to stick a baby seat on the back even if I was lit up like a Christmas tree they'd still say I didn't see you! I presumed they would have some sort of resistance but they will be directly against it so there will be quite a bit of heat, also if there's a traffic jam or some other reason I can't move whilst the bike is running I don't want them catching fire!!

The reason I need all the room is I have to take my clothes, the other halfs, and our 10month olds as well which includes nappies etc. if It was just me my rucksack would be perfectly fine as it has been in the past.

Just been looking at panniers as they're around the same price as a tail pack but offer more space. Would I be able to protect the pannier from the heat of the exhaust using heat shield material like this:- http://bit.ly/X39Phv I was thinking if I stick that to the side of the pannier then the heat of the exhaust shouldn't melt them, or am I wrong? The other option would be a heat shield plate that attaches to the exhaust with two large jubilee clips but I don't know how well that would work.

I think that's what I'm gonna do had a quick look on eBay the nice ones are all fairly expensive but I don't mind what it looks like. The straps won't be touching the exhaust and I did carry my bike cover on the back with bungee cords and that was fine. If I do get one I'll put some of that anti slip mat on the back of the tail pack to stop it scratching the paint and give it a bit more stability. What size is your tail pack? And how much can you fit in it? Edit: I do use a backpack but I can't get much in it so its not much use, also when traveling to my mums I need a bit more room for clothes etc
-
Panniers wouldn't fit because of the exhaust unless there's a frame with it which is then gonna cost ££'s and I'm guessing you aren't familiar with my bike as I don't have a tank to attach it too its underneath my seat. I was looking at a tail pack but thought a top box would be better storage wise and I wasn't sure about the straps being next to the exhaust. Honestly I'm not a fan of them either and think they look silly but as I said its practical for when shopping etc, that's why I'd get a removable one so I don't have to ride round looking stupid all the time

Well don't I look like an idiot haha! What did you search cause I put in Yamaha WR Rack and I only got things that had been posted on forums, maybe it's my phone.. They aren't cheap are they! £70 for some metal tubing geez maybe that's that idea out the window.. Would they be difficult to make yourself? The reason I ask is my brother is a welder and fabricator so he could make one. Thanks again
-
I've been looking into getting a top box for my WR not a permanent one just one I can use whenever I need it, mainly for shopping and to put clothes in when commuting in winter. But I can't seem to find a rack for it, I know they exist because I've seen a post on another forum with a picture of a WR with a rack on with the mounting plate for the top box attached, a quick glance through the post and it was fitted by a dealer so something must fit! I've tried google and eBay but to no avail, any ideas guys and gals? Thanks

he has a charger please take the time to read the post properly I did read it properly, I was just suggesting that a trickle charger could be left on the bike whilst its not being used rather than having to use the charger to completely recharge it all the time
-
The tyre size will be on the side of the ones you already have so for example on mine my rear tyre is 110/80-18 so just put that in on eBay and it will come up with tyres that are the same size. Just make sure you check both the front and back as they can be different, again on my bike the front wheel is a 21" and rear an 18"

A trickle charger might be worth investing in of you can't go the long way all the time, you can get a solar one for about £11 on eBay with a connector that stays on the bike so you just plug it in when you get home and Mother Nature will keep your battery topped up.
