  1. Just don't, you'd be much better off taking all the cash and throwing it in a fire it would be much less stressful.

I'm sure RantMachine and Glorian will be along to tell you why you shouldn't buy one, they're both previous owners of Chinese bikes.

  2. I know that road and have ridden it Allan so I'm aware of how bumpy it is, however you're supposed to check your mirrors every time you change speed ie braking or accelerating and it's only meant to be a glance so you can judge how your actions will affect the person behind.

And don't take it seriously it's only a bit of fun :)

Just to add to the thread and keep it on topic I've never been stopped by the police, yet!

  3. ONLY *NINE* HOURS?!?!

You sir, are a freaking legend!!!!!!! Seriously, I am well impressed!

I know I would've got away with having a lot fewer lessons if I could've driven someone else's manual car inbetween, but Chris has free insurance on his car for a year which doesn't allow learners to drive it. But I'm now insured on his car 3rd party, mine is fully comp. Dear lord I didn't expect the insurance to shoot up, esp not to double!!! REALLY wish I'd have insured Chris as the 1st driver and me as 2nd as we found out it would have cost £500 for the entire year...this is costing me £950 for the year. Have you got a car? Hope your insurance isn't too hefty. Shame you have to wait for the bike test, but will be worth it - we may end up doing the test at a similar time  ! My birthday is in April too :thumb: !

Yeah only nine, ideally id have wanted more but it was difficult to book lessons around work and when I had time my instructor didn't. However I felt comfortable after the first 2 hours of driving, to begin with I thought the car was massive when going down narrow lanes with on coming traffic and I had to tell myself I couldn't filter to the front at the lights!! I have a little fiesta 1.25 cost me £690 for the year so that's not bad compared to yours, however still crazy :( I've done nearly 1500 miles since passing my test travelling around the country for work which has been a big learning curve, we don't have many hills in Norwich and I was recently in Chippenham and there's some crazy steep hills which were fun and then there's rush hour on the m6 where the Highway Code doesn't exist.

I have to agree driving a car is more practical but no where near as fun, I find you get too comfortable with air con and radio etc and forget how dangerous it is being on the road whereas on the bike you're aware of everything going on around you which I think is better. Going crazy not having a bike on hot summers days but I have to think about how much more it will cost me if I do my test now.

  4. Congratulations!!

I passed my test on the 25th of last month and I was in the same boat as you but with 2 years on the bike beforehand. My main problem was the gears, having to move the gear stick left and right up and down seemed complicated compared to just up and down but I got the hang of it eventually. Personally I only done 9 hours due to me working away and booking my test but not having time for anymore lessons, however I passed with 4 minors 3 for stalling!!

Bike test is on hold for me due to the new laws counting down the months until April next year then I'll be 24 and can do my das, I would've done my test had it been the old laws then I could've bought the bike I want and not have to buy what they tell me I'm allowed.

  5. You should be checking it every time before you ride, you don't need to get down on your knees just give it wiggle with your boot after doing it a few times you'll know how it should feel. Then it depends how much you ride as to how many times you need to adjust and lube it, aim for weekly or whenever you feel necessary.

  6. You can ride a bike without being an adult just means it's off road, so we would get younger people looking for advice or help.

Plus the adult section had a picture of Stu with his nipples out wearing a hula skirt, something that will scar any child for life!!!

  7. But if they're career criminals then it would've been out the country the same day, they aren't stupid which leads me to believe it was a job given to them to steal one specific piece and take the fall for it should it come to it. You never know they might have an off shore account somewhere with a few hundred thousand in it waiting for them when they come out as a thank you.

    Just seems fishy to me.

  8. I know it's old news now but recently 8 people have been arrested and charged and a significant amount of high value items have been recovered.

Now is it just me or did it all seem too easy? I mean these guys planned and carried out the perfect robbery getting away with £200m worth, yet they kept the loot at home.. I have a feeling they only went in there to steal a certain item and the rest was just to throw investigators off the scent. Maybe there were some bigger players involved and the guys they've caught are paid to take the blame, after all I believe the youngest was 48! I can't imagine absailing down a lift shaft with heavy machinery can be easy at that age.

    What's your thoughts?

  9. There's a lot of them in Norwich as well, but equally the same amount of unmoddified cars. Personally I wouldn't ever have bought a pimped up car because chances are it's been thrashed about and probably about to fall apart, plus who wants to look like a chav!! I agree if people had the likes of an escort RS or whatever that would be a different story but insurance put a stop to that.

  10. If you want to do a full licence you need to do a Direct access (DAS) you can call any training centre and they will put you through your CBT and give you lessons until you're ready to take your test.

If you only want a CBT then only ask for that it's a one day training course which will allow you to ride a 125cc

  11. And if you aren't confident doing it yourself buy the part off eBay and take it to the garage with you and ask them to fit it, that way they can only charge labour which is normally around £40 an hour. Just a little tip don't take it to a dealer they always seem to charge stupid prices, find a small independent garage.

  12. £10 on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 1775439596

It won't be a hard job to do, simple case of remove connector on the tank and take the tank off (it shouldn't leak even without the pipe) then remove the other end from the injector and fit the new one. The hardest part will be trying to get the bloody clips open all at the same time without snapping them! It won't start first time straight after you'll need to give it a few goes to allow petrol to run through.

  13. Wen to the zoo yesterday with my family and my partner took loads of pictures on her camera, when we got home she plugged the camera into the laptop and all the pictures were there as they should be, however when she went to back on the laptop later she plugged it all back in and all the pictures are now just showing up as a black square with a Red Cross through them (something along them lines).

Just wondering if anyone knows how to save the pictures? I know they must still be on there but I'm useless when I comes to that kind of thing.

Any help would be appreciated, she's really upset about losing them :(

    Thanks

  14. I have a new job working away from home which is going really well and the money is more than good, however I find myself getting bored in my hotel room in the evenings. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to keep me entertained especially with summer coming up I'm going to be missing my bike as riding to work isn't an option.

    And keep it clean!! ;)
