  2. Hi there, I am needing to do a bit of work on my front discs. A few of the bobbins are coroded and breaking up causing it to make a horrible noise. Stealth products to a repair kit, but in order to fit the new parts I need to angle grind out the old ones. I am in the manchester area and was wondering if anyone could please either let me use their grinder, or help me out with this? Thanks in advance, Toby
  3. Ello there, I am possibly going to need a pair of trousers (leather) altering. I want the zip changing so they will zip into my jacket which is a different brand. Has anyone used anyone in the north west (as close to manc as possible) for this kind of work? Cheers, Toby
  4. I want to have the strap on my helmet replaced. I saw a helmet I liked fastened to the little helmet bracket on the back of someones bike so chopped it off with a stanley knife and now I can't fasten it up........ Not really, it just sounded a bit more interesting than the boring crap you're about to read. I really like my helmet bar one thing, it has a seatbelt style strap clip, and if you tighten it up at the start of a ride it's loose about 2 hours later, my old helmet had a ratchet fastner which was great, and the one before that had had a double d fastening. Either one of those would do me. Does anyone know anywhere that would be able to sort this? It's an AGV S4 by the way. Cheers all, Toby
  5. Well I've been using a crappy old vans rucksack when I need to ride somewhere and take a change of clothes etc. It's not great and not too comfortable. What rucksacks can you guys recommend for bike use? I was looking at the Oxford Aeropack ones and they seem decent yet reasonable in price. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers guys

  8. Yeah I do have a bar which I can slot over the end of the wratchet, but i'm after a torque wrench anyhow so can get a big one eh

  10. Hi mate, The rear ones are back in finger tight. The plan is to undo it, then push it out with the replacement engine bolt so the engine constantly has support. That's the way the installation instructions say to do it anyhow. Toby

Hi there, Well I am currently fitting some R and G crash protectors to my 2001 SV650. 3 Bolts have to come out, the two rear ones which thread into the engine I was worried about, I snapped the front version of this the other week and it had to be drilled out. Anyhow, I got these two out no bother with a bit of plus gas. The main engine bolt that goes right through the middle won't budge. I tried using plus gas on it but no joy. The nut just won't loosen up! I've left it soaking overnight but does anyone have any tips or pointers for me? It shouldnt really matter if this one snaps because you can just push it out with the replacement bar, but I can't get it to move at all!
  12. What is the best glue to use to clue plastic to plastic? It's for a part that something will be screwed into and may be pulled in a bit so will need an element of flex in it. I was thinking evostick? Any advise will be appreciated. Cheers. Toby

  14. Hi guys, Well, trying to get an engine bolt out today to adjust my fairing mount I managed to snap it! It doesnt go all the way through the engine, it screws directly into the engine so I can't tap it out from the other side. The point it which it has snapped is pretty much flush with the engine, so no chance at getting any mole grips on it. Any ideas which someone with limited technical (me) could carry out to get the bugger out and replace it? Failing that, anyone in the manchester area an expert on removing knackered bolts?   18. I suspect I have flooded the engine and if I could sort that out I could get it to start. How the hell do I unflood it though?!
  19. I've tried exactly that mate. Tonight infact. Battery came off the optimate went back in then I tried again for ages. No joy. I saw it run last thursday, then tried myself on saturday. over that time the weather was shit hot suprisingly!
  20. Was hoping you might show up! Yeah I've tried it with a bit of choke, loads of choke, no throttle loads of throttle etc etc etc. I had the button pressed for ages mate, actually flattened the battery from trying for so long. Doesnt seem to want to go! Really confusing as i've seen it going!
  21. Hi Guys, I recently bought an SV650S. It's a 2001 SK1 It was delivered last thursday and when the guy got it out of the van he fired it up and i saw it running. The engine sounded good and no spluttering or anything. Since then I havent been able to get it to start. It turns over but won't fire. i've tried it with ever conbination of choke and throttle amounts but nothing. I have changed the plugs. Checked they are sparking and they are. (tested them with the lead on them but out of the cylinder so I can see them spark) I am trying with the side stand up and the clutch in. The killswitch is not on either. Like i said it turns over but doesnt fire. I have charged the battery right up after both sessions of trying to start it and no use either. The fuel was very low when I got it so i put £5 of fresh petrol in it from a can. When you try turn it over for ages it backfires so it doesnt appear to be a fuel problem. It does sound like it's close to going and you can kinda hear the engine/exhaust bubbling but it just won't fire up properly! My thought was maybe the fuel is off and the delivery guy just used what was left in the lines, but as far as I can tell it doesnt have a fuel switch. I have checked all fuses etc and all is fine there. All the electrics work fine. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance! Toby
  22. Hi there guys. Well having just bought my first big bike I am keep to buy some leathers better than the crap, slightly ill fitting second hand ones i have now. I'll obviously be trying things on before buying but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a set of sub £300 leathers worth checking out. Been looking at the RST fusions which sell for around £150. I preferably want 2 piece leathers. Any ideas guys? Cheers

  24. Thanks mate, will have a look later! I think i may have a spare one kicking round off my old SR which I had to break after it was stolen and recovered in a not so nice state. Will let you know how i get on!
