  1. What's the numberplate of the bike? Presuming it's on the DVLAs database, we should be able to get info on it from that

    chain issues

So, the new chain is on, all lubed up nicely, everything is tightened to spec etc, but I'm still getting the clicking noise. Did it make that noise before? Am I being paranoid? There is no oil as far as I can tell. No evidence of it leaking in the past anyway. I can definitely hear it whilst on the bike, now I'm not wearing earplugs or listening to music, but I'm not sure if I'm just kidding myself into thinking about it, or if that noise was there before and I just didn't notice it. The rear sprocket doesn't make any noise though, which makes me think theres an issue Anyway, heres the vid of the sound. http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd519/mealexme/th_20150206_121849_zps6ybd4pkx.mp4

    chain issues

sweet, thanks guys. I'll put the new chain on when it gets here, clean up the area, do another sound test then keep checking for oil
  8. bad sides - It gets clogged up quickly in the winter. I've had two on different bikes in the past, both of them got clogged. They are great for the summer, I have no issues with them at all, infact I would recommend them if you are only doing summer miles, but as soon as the winter gets here, the mud flings up on your wheels, the salt starts attacking everything, thats when the tubes get clogged

    chain issues

Well, the front sprocket does click when moved by hand. I'm hoping its just worn now, rather than the bearings

I just came back to recorrect that. Yea, thats the shaft I meant, not the crank

    chain issues

So, I've ordered a new chain/sprockets due to the old one having lots of kinks in it due to the scottoiler getting blocked up. Those kinks mean that the chain has gotten WAY too tight, to the point where there is no slack, even after loosening the wheel off quite a bit, and I think its been like that for a while The question is, what damage could this have caused to various components (other than the chain and sprockets), and how do you check for those issues? I hear it could damage the crankshaft etc? Many thanks
  12. unfortunately though, that won't pass an MOT. Anything with "not road legal" written on it is, well, not road legal... Also, if the police spot it, they won't be happy. I think its a rather large fine and I believe police in wales are hot on that sort of thing, or at least used to be, so don't take a biking holiday there Other companies include Two brothers SP exhausts (had one on the bandit, it was awesome akrapovic (I have one on this bike, mainly for the looks, but sounds decent too yoshimura Toce - an american company, but if you are after loud, I think these are pretty much straight through pipes, with an added baffle if you want one. They are meant to replicate the sound thunder from the reviews Ive heard Any of the above and you cant go wrong

    caliper rust

well, not rust, but white spots. They appeared last winter, probably due to salt starting to corrode through the paint, but I couldn't remove it with any sort of cleaner. I decided to repaint them, bought the paint (it's gloss, which doesn't look as good) and sand paper. The first step though, is to decrease them, so a bit of brake cleaner on it and even the white has come off now. The question is, will it come back as soon as it gets wet, or should I repaint anyway?
  14. Yep, delete this user post-haste! It's for somewhere called "Devon and Cornwall" I believe this place to be made up. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/4359608 ... gland.html
  15. It'l be a connection somewhere... I'm guessing the rest of the dash lights work then? High beam etc. If not, then check the fuses, if they do then... Do you have access to a multimeter?
  16. I created a website a while back, but I'm not happy with the design www.dncbikenights.com (don't worry stu, it doesn't have a forum... yet) I'm thinking it looks a bit bare, but don't know how to rectify this. Any ideas? p.s I don't want it to end up too cluttered p.p.s, I still need to work on the images on the left hand side of the page to make them look a bit more refined and uniform, so use your imagination Any help would be greatly appreciated
  17. The following applies to cars/bikes/lorries etc 5. Vehicle towing and loading (98) 98 Vehicle towing and loading. As a driver you MUST NOT tow more than your licence permits. If you passed a car test after 1 Jan 1997 you are restricted on the weight of trailer you can tow you MUST NOT overload your vehicle or trailer. You should not tow a weight greater than that recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle you MUST secure your load and it MUST NOT stick out dangerously. Make sure any heavy or sharp objects and any animals are secured safely. If there is a collision, they might hit someone inside the vehicle and cause serious injury Usually they give a reference so you can find the relevant law, but unfortunately they dont in this case
  18. There is a law about a motorcycle not being able to be overloaded. I'm not sure exactly how its worded, but I do remember it isn't exactly clear. I'll try and find it
  19. I just ordered some VHT caliper paint, the reviews seem alright so we'll see how it goes. As for painting, whats the best grit sand paper to use before hand? I want it to look as least DIY as possible
  20. Has anyone done it before? I want to re-spray the origonal mine matte black that they are because the salt has left white spots that I CANNOT remove. Does anyone have any recommendation for product names I should look out for?

    Gear Issues

I just thought I should make sure you know that you can adjust the cable on both end of it, not just the lever end, before you buy a new one
  22. I feel you might have glossed over this point, so I'll repeat it, because thats what its there for. Set it to prime, go on a ride, let the bubble out, then turn it back down again
  23. Looks like a gimic to me tbh. I have a brake light, I have indicators, they all work just fine and are nice and bright.
  24. I'm planning on doing a coolant change next week, and reading through the haynes manual, it just says use a hose for the water, ie normal tap water
  25. Whats the best way to get rid of old coolant? My local tip only takes oil, so thats not an option. I have heard people claim that their local water company has told them to flush it down the toilet as long as its not a regular thing, as the treatment plants will neutralise small amounts without a problem. Obviously, this sounds a bit dodgy to me though, so can anyone confirm/deny this? Also, wth do you do with brake fluid? Mix it with the oil and hope the tip doesn't realise?
