Well now she has been found guilty of careless driving. Will she show up for the sentencing?

I find it unlikely after the way she has acted up till now.

I believe part of the real was she would not have to attend hearing here in the UK. I'm if you were a half decent human being you would but her actions up to now don't make me believe that's the case.

I recall one instance of a dispatch rider losing his entitlement. Even though he had photo copies from three previous employers, they refused to give him his entitlement back.

I haven't heard any cases for quite a few years now. So hopefully it's sorted.

It's happened recently to people on a Facebook group I'm in.

  3. Hi guys,

Something popped up in a group I'm in then this video by Spicy110 emerged. It's about people who have had thier motorcycle license a long time then when they have to send I'm their license for what ever reason the motorcycle entitlement has been removed and unless you have physical proof you passed they refuse to put the entitlement back on and you have to start from scratch! Anyone here heard of or experienced this. Seems mad.

  4. I believe there has been a lot of bargaining going on behind the scenes. She was never going to face any kind of sentence I think the family were told what they were willing to go with and told take that or lump it. The annoying thing is she won't suffer any additional penalty for running away and not taking accountability for years.  What she did seems like a genuine accident there was no intent and  I've actually driven on the wrong side of the road abroad myself. If she had stayed and faced the concequences with a decent lawyer she probably would have got what she will get now but without the years of heartbreak she caused Harry's family. That's the sad part that she was a coward and hid behind her husbands credentials putting that family through further hell while they were dealing with the loss of thier son. 😡

It was being told by a salesman in bikers world that I " Nothing in here is going to fit you  " that inspired me to join Slimming World and lose 9 stone . Admittedly that was some time ago and I have put most of it back on again but it can be done .

Lol...been in the same situation my whole adult life for the last 24 years my weight has yo yo'ed  anywhere between 15 and 20st.

  6. This is a call to the larger riders out there. What jackets are you wearing that fit well ? I'm 6ft and 19st a lot of  that weight on my gut. I've tried a couple of jackets on but once I find one that fits my stomach the rest is just too big, baggy, long arms and armor not where it should be and the jacket is long and looks odd.

I'm hoping to get along to the new Superbikeshop soon but wondered before hand if there are any makes that people  recommend.

    Cheers.

    hey people,

I'm looking for a 400-700cc inline 4 naked for my next bike, either second hand or new if it is reasonably affordable like the CB650R.

naked because I like how they look

inline 4 because I like how they rev and sound. I like higher revving "singing" engines and not beefy lawnmower kind of sounding engines.

400-700cc because I want a serious enough bike that it's not boring but not a litre bike that is expensive to buy and run and excessively powerful for my every day needs

Modern - ABS, a nice dash, low emissions, parts availability etc would be desirable qualities

    So far I've seen:

    honda CB650R

    benelli 600i

    - suzuki GSR600

    - suzuki GSR400

    - Yamaha FZ6

However ALL of those apart from the honda are discontinued!....

Anyone got any other suggestions to broaden my list so I can maybe try a couple before pulling the trigger? Anyone know why there are so few currently available options?

What don't you like about the hornet ?

Seeing the hazard before it materialises and preparing for it, that's how you stay alive. Good job!

Another White Audi to add to the naughty list...

For anyone interested in my list,

White Audi. All of them, but specifically A3/S3/ **new addition** SUV.

    White BMW 1 series.

White or black BMW 3 series.

ALL TAXI's. London black cabs/Addison lee vans/ Toyota Prius. etc.

    Honourable mentions:

    High performance SUVs. Audi Q7/Q8.

                                            BMW X3/X5

Range Rover - Discovery / Sport.

Especially if they have private plates.

Artic lorry. Especially if they DON'T have UK plates.

Unbranded Toyota Hilux. Actually, unbranded pick up trucks in general. They seem to follow the rules (sort of) when they have company branding on it.

Do not be surprised or angered by any flagrant behaviour on the roads of the vehicles listed above. Expect it. Prepare for it.

I drive a fair bit for my job and damn this list is bang on !

Passed my mod 2 today (3rd times the charm) and like many of you my nerves n anxiety were really gettin the better of me..

    Barely slept a wink lastnight.

Sat up early this morning decided to google "mod 2 test stress" and it eventually took me here.

Cant remember who said it ^^^^^

But something along the lines of "try and forget that theres a guy on a bike behind you, that voice is your satnav simply telling you where to go, jst relax and enjoy the ride.."

Thankyou to whoever said that cos it really helped!

Best luck with the big day 🤙

Well done ! My first mod 2 got cancelled when we got to the test centre and found my cbt had run out 🙄 The upside was I seemed to have done all my worrying , when I came to actually do it I felt surprisingly calm🙂

Something I have been thinking about too!

Notts Blood Bikes require IAM, RoSPA gold or an Enhanced Rider Scheme pass.

I was intending to do the ERS anyway, so I need to figure out whether I want to commit the time!

So I'm guessing my cbt and a letter from my mum saying I ride good won't cut it 🤪

I'd imagine a hgv comes out on top in most crashes. These figures are a % of deaths in contrast to year 1. If there are relatively few hgv deaths then a couple over or above average will have a larger effect on say bicycles

Yep , that makes total sense 👌

I turned up for 0830 ready for a 9am start.  Temperature was -1.  By the time I had my full gear on, I barely noticed the chill.  I had previously had a few email conversations with Stuart of Andover Rider Training so we followed up on various concerns in person whilst we waited for the other trainee to arrive.

I had already mentioned my desire to move on to bigger geared bikes in the Summer and so I thought I should aim for a geared 125 bike today.  The other chap was there for his second CBT and has motocross experience.  So the session had it’s challenges for both of us.  He felt he had to knock some of his bad habits away and I had to conquer my fears of never having ridden a motorbike.

We were shown the controls for the bikes – 2021 Binelli 125s – and all happy with that.  Then we wheeled the bikes over to the pad.  Manual handling was all good.  No issues there.

Started up the bikes and the other guy goes first.  Showing how to ride in a straight line from one end to the other.  No pressure then.  He does this 2 or 3 times end to end, round the end cones and back again.

Then it’s my turn.  I mount the bike, start it up and try and find the footpegs with the lack of downwards peripheral vision inside a helmet.  Took me a while to get the hang of that.  6ft4 with long legs wasn’t doing me any favours.  Anyway, I get a run up and down the yard a few times – stalling from dropping revs too much or forgetting to pull in the clutch when I come to a stop.  Not exactly foreign as I have been driving manual vehicles for 20 years.  Just struggling to convert foot actions into hand actions.  By the third time he left me to do it on my own as he could see I was stressing myself out.  That bit finally clicked.  I was getting quite good at slow control in a straight line and paddling round the corners with my feet.

Meanwhile the other chap had moved on to slow control exercises – U-Turns and Figure of 8.  I could see he had much more confidence and was getting through the session much faster than myself.

I will give Stuart credit, he was very patient with me and gave me plenty of opportunities to get the hang of it. It was around this point that (after 2.5hrs) Stuart said we really need to be getting moving and pushing on.  Fair enough.  SO I was given the option of a 50cc Automatic or go home, lick my wounds and come back another day for some geared bike lessons.   For all I was kicking myself, I knew I was holding up the other trainee and Sturt only had so much patience.

I had a 5 minute chill and decided to go back another day.  I would have been cheating myself to scrape through on a ped.  Also I am 23 stone.  That ped would have screamed for mercy 😊

So all in all, I take away a  couple of positive things.  He said my knowledge was good (Thanks YouTube) and he could see I was making progress – just not at the rate that either of us were comfortable with.  I am 45 so it’s taking a bit more to sink in.  I was also doing shoulder checks naturally (my HGV training rubbing off)

So I am going back for a few 1-1 lessons on the geared bike.  He’s certain I will be fine.  Just a bit slower to pick things up than others.

Oh and I didn’t drop it.  So I can’t be that bad 😊

Don't sweat it. I was 49 when I did my first cbt. 6 of us there I was by far the slowest learner got to the end and the guy said he didn't feel I was quite where I needed to be, I kept stalling all the time and my slow control was not great, so to come back, I was pretty gutted but went back three days later had just a hour or so 1 to 1 and it just clicked. Keep at it, it will come 💪

So who do you expect to actually carry out this work ? There are companies out there but at a starting price of £59 per carb you aren't going to see much change out of £300 . And once they are back on the bike they still have to be set up . You say that you lack the confidence to do it yourself . So do it anyway , without any confidence . Read up , be methodical , be observant and gentle , stop if you haven't got the right tools , create a clean and well lit work area , put everything in little boxes like a pill dispenser and put the kettle on . This is how confidence is gained .  . https://www.pccperformance.co.uk/collections/carburettor-services?gclid=CjwKCAiAlrSPBhBaEiwAuLSDUPWDgrJOAz2Hq3F1CMxdBgCiQ2snhp3LAEhecFkwR18hwid9AsMo_BoCvAkQAvD_BwE

Yeah, perhaps it's time to just take a deep breath and take the plunge. I treated myself to tools and the Haynes manual for Xmas , also I've just has to shell £££ out on my car so canr really afford that kind of outlay on the bike the moment .
