    I never saw any riding school dedicating any time to it.

    As driving schools are only interested in getting people passing the tests and paying for it.

    I would think most training schools are probably too swamped with paying customers to fit in free training huge backlogs of training and tests to clear through.

    I went the 125 route for a couple of years after doing my cbt, and used it daily on my short commute.  This gave me experience on the road in all weathers, and in all the different scenarios you encounter. Did my DAS as a 4 day course at the end of last summer with no problems (apart from a Southend to Ipswich journey for the test - bloody covid!).

    I'll be selling the 125 soon, confident that I'll not loose more than £100 on the 2k purchase price.

     

    Others have stated differently,  but it's down to confidence firstly.  Your cbt on a 125 will be what let's you know how much confidence  you have.

    I booked my das as my 50th birthday present for myself , unfortunately that was last year and we all know what happened...anyway o

    I got a tattoo for my 18th birthday and believe me it takes a lot less courage than riding a 600cc bike on the road 🤣

    I always assumed that the being able to extend it is the loophole, that the purpose of the CBT is to enable people to be able to learn rather than to give them a classification on their license. Kick up too much of a fuss about it and might need to do Mod 1 and mod 2 to be allowed the 125s too.

     

     That's why I'm a bit confused. If it is a way for you to get experience to go on to take full test then why the ability the extend ? My trainer told me they have had a 65 year old lady coming to them every 2 years for about 10 years as she likes her scooter but has absolutely no interest in the stress of a full 2 part test.

    I cannot understand why it expires. I've heard it said that it's because some people do it then don't ride for ages but that sound like bollocks if you are over 24 you could do a DAS ride for a year then not ride for 20 and then jump on a 200hp sports bike. So I'm  sure how jumping on a 125 when you are a bit rusty compares. The CBT pretty much covered what you do on a full test slalom, figure 8 , u turn , emergency stop and a monitored road ride to ensure you are safe. Most CBT are probably food delivery drivers these days and they probably put in loads of hours of riding and experience. Is be pissed off if I had to spring £120-150 every 2vyears just so could keep riding and keep my job.

    The location is TBC  it will be in the South of England, probably within 3 hours ride of home. As will have teen daughter on back.

     

    It seems others have been kitting up for the freedom to do similar.  If our research leads to the-same campsite would that be against the rules?
     

     

     

    I dont think campsites would notice as long as you didn't all book together. As a camper myself my concern about camping in April is if it's pissing down there will be no pubs or clubhouse you can go to so could be pretty miserable !

     Yeah, I mean it could be a legal nightmare if something went wrong. Not sure if they have different liability laws in US that make it a more viable proposition.

     Some of the few bike hire shops I have found ask for up to £1500 deposit to be left.

  8. I've seenin the US they have a few services where you can " air BnB" a bike you just jump on a app look for a bike and hire it off the owner. Is there or do you think there would ever be anything like this in the UK? Bike hire in general is a pain not many places that do it and the cost is ridiculous compared to renting a car.

  9. I'm constantly scanning ads at the moment and it either seems to be cash in hand as a minimum with some requiring proof of insurance. If you make this clear in any ads you should'nt have any issues and if you do its likely they are dodgy or not serious about buying your bike anyway.
