Cleaned her AGAIN....scrubbed and lubed the chain AGAIN....got a little wire brush and wd40'd all the little rusty screws and bits i could see AGAIN then wheeled her back into the shed
Cool. Thanks !!! All my fairing ones are SS but the rest arent. I will do that today what can i do with a horribly rusty exhsust ??
If you want to paint it then you should use something like this
https://shop.vitcas.com/products/heat-resistant-materials/heat-resistant-paints.html
I have painted my iron machine with it and works great.
First remove the rust with a stainless steel scrub pad like this one and some elbow grease ( i get mine elbow grease from toolstation )
You can get them in any supermarket
Make sure all rust is gone before spaying or the rust will come back again and ruin everything. If too much rust then better use a detail or DA sander and then the scrub pad to finish it.
Would you use a rust inhibitor and if so which one?

If it turns out ok im doing the kitchen cupboards with it dont tell he who shall be obeyed (can't type that with a straight face) that im using his beloved vespa as a practice run
I mucked about with clear helicopter tape to protect the bumper on a Merc estate and when my other half saw how it worked she bought a marble patterned wrap and did the kitchen worktops with it.
Turned out well and a fraction of the cost of new worktop.
Cheers
Ian

Spray the water/soap onto whatever you are going to wrap, lay down the vinyl then using the squeege thing you start to gently push out the water and it then sticks it down,
watch a few youtube vids to see how it's done
Ive not seen one done with water...just the sticky backed ones...i will go and have a proper look. Cheers

As Rich says.
I would add make sure you have a strong solution of water and washing up liquid and make the water warm rather than cold.
Oh and get another swear box as one wont be enough.
Cheers
Ian
Whats the water for?

hair dryer to get old wrap off, clean surfaces, use a old bank card or similar to apply new wrap , make sure you got more wrap than you need , cause you'll probably need it along with a swear box
Ohh the language is going to be epic. Im going to video my efforts aswel should be fun

I wouldn't use WD40 if screws get rusty.
I use a brass brush for all the metal parts and for cleaning the brake pads (the ones used to clean suede shoes) they will be softer and will clean the screws better.
If you want to stop rust to get to the screws, instead use some grease or get a bottle of car wax and dip them into the wax this will seal them for a while.
alternative is the dry silicone spray used for chains.
But nothing will beat SS screws

How awful. I witnessed a young lad commiting suiced off a motorway bridge. I didnt see him jump but i drove past him and he was alive at that point and looking directly at me. I can still see him but it does get easier and the image isnt as sharp. Details are diminishing.
You did everything you could. Its all we can do for each other. You have to get on and live your life, afterall we got first hand experience of how quickly it can be taken from us.
Give yourself a break. Lots of people would not have stopped to help. Sending love and hugs your way.
