1. You soaked the friction plates in oil right ?
2. Clutch plates. Changed to new all sorted!! Must of been pure coincidence my chain was knackered too or would a failing clutch cause chain issue. Or vice versa ? Anyone know?
3. I’ve just received my plates. There are only friction plates in the box. I’m assuming this is normal and I re use the old steel plates or Should I be ordering a set of new steel plates? Thanks
4. When doing the clutch plates. I will need to disengage the clutch cable. Can this be done by just loosening the nuts on the right of the picture? Or will I need to loosen it at the clutch lever? Thanks In advance
5. sounds like it It sounded like it from the start it was the confusion along the way that was confusing
6. Only tried it in gear 1 so far. I’ll try going up gears next time. Ordered new plates anyway plus oil and new filter.
7. My thoughts too, it does sound like its something more than clutch There’s no audible sound. It just sounds likes it always done which is it sounds fine. Regarding if its in gear while on centre stand. Well I can put it in and if I keep clutch in while applying throttle it just does nothing. But once release clutch it will steadily roll and if apply throttle it will speed up. Like I say all this is while on centre stand. Once off and on it’s own weight it won’t move at all.
8. Ok so replaced chain and sprockets. Everything moves if on centre stand and speeds up if in gear etc. But once off centre stand. so under any kind of weight it won’t move. It will go in gear but will just sit there without stalling. Would replacing clutch plates be a good place to start next? Any yes when replaced oil I used the correct oil.
9. P.s yeah I agree its probably the way I’m explaining that’s confusing everyone. Once I have changed the chain and sprockets I’ll see what happens. If any further problems I’ll be clearer with my replies and send plenty of pictures and video if possible. I’m hoping by the sounds of what you all have said on here the chain was just too loose. Because everything else is working as expected.
10. That’s The order I’m trying to do. But until new chain comes I’m just sat waiting. I mean excuse me if I’m wrong but if the chain was so loose as I described and I sat on bike and tried to move then I’m assuming it just wouldn’t have to tension to pull. Which is what I experienced before? Like I said before I didn’t know the chain shouldn’t have tight spots so I prob tightened it to the last of its life followed 4 hours of ragging it round Yorkshire Dales just battered it to death? The only thing I don’t understand is when I put in gear I can leave it idling there without it stalling. Surely you have ordered sprockets as well ? You should never fit a new chain to old sprockets . Yes I have ordered sprockets too
11. I'm confused as to what's moving or not, if the bike will not move under its own power it's fairly simple to follow back, chain, front sprocket, clutch, gearbox? That’s The order I’m trying to do. But until new chain comes I’m just sat waiting. I mean excuse me if I’m wrong but if the chain was so loose as I described and I sat on bike and tried to move then I’m assuming it just wouldn’t have to tension to pull. 12. Do you just want a photo of the just sprockets? I didn’t bother taking or sending any pictures because they just seem fine like nothing seems broken on them. So you’d just be looking at two sprockets with no chain as I removed. But maybe you’ll see something I can’t so happy to send if you wish.
13. And that was the cause of the problem ? Well my thinking so far was because it needed changing anyway then I’ll put a new one on and see if any difference first? (hard to do anything when every time pull bike out my 3 year old daughter want wants to climb up pretend to ride it then get down pretend she’s gone to doctors then repeat 50 more times) lol I’ll also check inside clutch as you suggested as I suspect that may be an issue but still yet to see.
14. Hi bob Chain was absolutely shagged! Like even turning it sideways was bending rattling all over. I’ll check clutch when next taking a look. Yes drained all oil and replaced with new .
15. Have you checked the rear wheel to make sure its not moved forward? Hi Stu Do you mean the actual full wheel hast moved forward? When I adjust it back to tighten chain before i marked it and it hasn’t moved a millimetre. The chain was so loose like side to side you could use it as a skipping rope. I also checked the front sprocket was spinning in gear when took chain off and it did. The only thing I noticed is I could leave it in gear and take revs off and it didn’t stall!
16. Ok so I’ve taken the front sprocket cover off. And everything is still on as in the chain on the sprockets. I can’t see no obvious snap but the chain was never this loose before. I can’t even push the chain down because it’s literally that slack. If I put it in gear it stops moving like it should and freeS up again once back in neutral. I’m talking about rotating it by hand Here not by throttle. I’ll pop chain off and have further inspection.
17. Well I’m on here to learn about bikes an so far learned quite a bit. This is my first bike and the reason was to learn about them before I spend more money on one. I know my questions sound simple and daft but I ain’t scared to ask silly may be in your eyes “simple” questions. I’m sure you didn’t know your self at one point. Is not so much about how silly your questions are, this one being a proof of it , but how much detail are you giving. We can only reply based on what you say and if your information is not complete we can't give complete answers. That's why I told you to post a couple of pictures so we can have a better idea. I know you did bud and I will don’t worry just need to get bike back out. (Back at work and family commitments at moment) yeah I’m an impatient bast*rd was trying to just get some insight into what I should be looking for when I start taking it apart. To be fair I have got an idea now what I need to be looking at so I got what I wanted for now haha. I’ll let you all know how I get on and post pictures soon as possible. Cheers guys for now!

19. Hi sorry for silly question but I assumed if it had snapped it would just fall off. So now for really silly part... where should I be looking to see if it’s snapped
20. I tightened chain by moving back Wheel about a month ago. It had a stiff point when rotating back wheel which coming to the conclusion the chain needed replacing. I did not replace chain yet and went out for a few hours. In the last five minutes power started to go especially when in gear 1 and 2. I stoped at lights for a couple of minutes and then it wouldn’t move at all. It would go into gear and I could fully release clutch but it just wouldn’t move. On inspection I noticed the chain had lost all tension and was slack as s#!t. I suppose what I’d like to know is does this sound like solely a chain and sprocket issue or should I be looking elsewhere. Thanks for any help .
21. Riding purely for fun just the thought of no clutch, no gears but most of all no rumbling exhaust. Doesn’t seem right to me. Suppose until I ride one to compare then will never know. But can’t see it somehow.
22. Just for fun and purely curiosity! Anyone ever rode one? Share your experience. Is it the same? Couldn’t think of anything worse personally. I’d happily buy and drive and electric car or van but motorbike Couldn’t think of anything worse surely it’s just not the same? Don’t think I’d of ever bothered getting bike license if they were electric to be honest. You’d just be basically riding a battery on wheels won’t you?
23. Update solved solved!! Was a spec of dust in float valve stopping needle shutting properly. Running perfectly now. I think this is what caused it to drop to one cylinder in first place. So when I thought I fixed it before all I had done is got it firing on both cylinders again. But flooded again so back off with carbs and saw the spec of dirt as described above.
24. Changed float needles and cleaned spark plugs as was firing on one cylinder! Thanks fastbob for all help!
