Anyone done mod 2 in Enfield?
mikey69 replied to Stuno1's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Yep - did mine there last November. It's not bad, in fact the mix of traffic is good to get you used to real life. The traffic can get busy and static - just remember to make progress and filter where it's safe to do so. Make sure you do all your observations. Make sure you know your road positions, there's one route they can take you where you need to ensure you take up the middle of the lane when turning right etc.... The "ride to..." bit took me out towards Cheshunt, they gave plenty of time to let you know where to go. In fact I found that easier than the normal "turn left at the next junction" instruction - I went the wrong way a couple of times as I didn't hear over the radio. They didn't seem to mind - more interested that i went the wrong way safely than anything else. Good luck - Ride safely and enjoy it. -

Breakfast TMBF Get Together Sunday May 1st Ace Cafe
mikey69 replied to a topic in London & South East Rideouts and Meets
Sounds good - I'm up for it. I'll start sorting out my diary It'll be good to meet others from the forum and go on a ride out. I like the sound of including L-plates too, wish i'd done more than just commute when I was learning. Still, onwards and upwards. -

The Knox has little thingies that hold the straps (the excess bits) in place so there is no flapping around. After 30 years of camping/hiking etc - it really is the best back pack I've ever bought ! Am I getting a little too excited about a back pack???
-
I've had a number of back packs and I love my Knox Six Pack. Very comfy, love the way it opens and you can carry your lid when not on the bike. Nearly went for the Kriega - in the end, the Knox was purchased as it was cheaper. But it's great.

Four months old, but then I could get the cash to buy something outright, so I went with a 0% finance deal. But I'm planning on getting older a simpler to work on in the summer - to get me through the dirty mucky winter days.

Yep, tried the shop. They said no, try the internet. I was going to ask my dad to see if he could nick a connect from his dialysis machine.

I finally got round to cleaning my chain, is was looking a bit worse for wear. As I don't ride everyday it looked like is was getting rusty. After reading a few guides on here, I went and bought the Kettenmax Premium kit - put it all together (easier than putting up my tent) and five minutes later - shiny new chain. Wow! Had to let it dry before lubing up, so I went to take the kit off and *&^^%&^%^ it! I broke the little y-adapter you get. Was not happy, big clumsy oaf. Anyway, it didn't effect getting the chain nicey lubed, and all with out any mess on the floor (nice collection bag). So all in all - a fantastic bit of kit, I would highly recommend it. But anyone know where I can get a spare connector without going to "Kettenmax dot de"? The spares on their site, come to 1 Euro for 4 connectors - postage 15 Euro Did I mention I had a shiny chain?

Were is the best place to go for a helmet
mikey69 replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
They have great prices and good selection. Me and my gf have bought almost all our gear from them (but Leeds store) lol SE9 thats south east london ill give it a look though thanks and stu J&S Accessories have a place in Watford just off the A41 - that's where i got my helmet. Check their online prices too - I always ask for a price match when I buy gear. -
Fair enough - thanks for the reply

No but.... I didn't think steel capped boots where great to ride in - or that bike boots had steel in them. The thought being, if something runs over a steel boot and crashes the steel, it stays crashed (along with anything inside it). Leather/Kevlar protection etc, would just reform automatically.

I haven't found one - is there anything that I could use instead? I tend to search here for advice or on Youtube to see "How to..." do things - but a book would be nice (other than the user manual)

Buying gear in Hertfordshire
mikey69 replied to mikey69's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Cheers - I'll see if I can google them -
Hi all, Looking to buy a Kriega U20 tailbag - would like to see what they look like before buying. Anyone know anywhere in Hertfordshire that stocks them, only place I really know is J&S in Watford - Cheers

Well done on passing. I had the same thoughts about the test centres when I was learning. It seems that there used to be more local ones, but when they introduced the MOD1 and MOD2 set-up everything got centralised. No doubt with this government everything will be localised again Well done again, and good luck for the future, it's worth all the effort

Well done - I had a problem with the radio too- no snow though in November though.
