  1. if it stopped with your foot it is normall transmission slack all bikes do it and so do cars if one drive wheel is jacked up in the air
  2. thread size or spanner size spanner size is normally 8mm thread size is about 5mm but can vary
  3. does it only do it when on the stand, off the stand can you select neutral and first gear without the bike trying to creep forward it is quite normall for the rear wheel to spin on the stand in first gear with clutch in if you touch wheel with ur foot it should stop
  4. i dont know about others on here but i am self taught if it went wrong i had a go at fixing it if i got it wrong i would do it again untill i got it right same with the darb and such like see if you can find a cheap one to justtake apart to see what its like inside and how it works how the jets come out how to set float height and so on
  5. do you mean the 'down pipe ' that goes from the engine to the silencer?
  6. yes it would be but please be carefull when trying to find out dont stick ur hands onto hot pipes....lol can check with fingers after running fora few seconds but after that splash bit of water onto each pipe
  7. glad you finally got it running have a quick look at the plug on the cylinder that isnt firing see if plug is wet or dry if dry check spark again then need to check jets in that carb
  8. be carefull hooking it up to the car as the amp rates are very different and in some cases can cook the bike battery then it is usless
  9. then check spark and if need be remove top of air filter remove filter itself and spray small amout of carb cleaner into carbs as u turn bike over if its going to start then it wil start on carb cleaner
  10. to check for spark remove one of the plugus from the engine then put i back into its cap rest it on the engine flcik engine over on the starter and see if it sparks use same plug in each cap to check that each one is sparking.also if it has been sat around for some time then the fuel might of blocked up the jets in the carbs.you might need to remove each float bowl in turn and check the jets are clear
  11. did you check for a spark at the plugs when fitting them, have you checked engine kill switch is in the run position, have you tried to start it with bike upright you sitting on it and side stand up in case the switch is faulty,is the neutral light on and also try holding clutch lever in,could be any of these, also did you put new fuel in tank or trying to run it on the old fuel as that might have gone stale
  12. ah right if totally different i assume your one cant be mounted on the new set then?
  13. if the throttle position sensor will still work even tho its in a different place the way the choke works will make no difference to you if you can put choke on and take it off ok there shouldnt be a problem using them
  14. what is the differences between them they will fit the same at worst it will be choke set up thats different
  15. full comp here as well mainly due to nature of the bike and it was only £5 more than tpft
  16. there is no real way to keep them from freezing as you drive, carry a bottle or 2 of water with you so if you need to you can pull over and pour some on the screen for the wipers to clear the dirt
  17. if you do strip the caliper down and replace the seals when u pull old seals out make sure you get the groove that the sela sits in perfectly clean as there will be lots of druv built up thats what stops piston most of the time.might be worth while popping piston out take seals out clean up behind them replace seals polish piston up use correst red brake grease on piston and put it back in
  18. when the glow plug light goes out on the dash board the plugs are still heating up if you listen quietly you will hear a relay click about 5 to 10 seconds after the light goes out try starting then as the glow plugs should be at highest temp at that point
  19. eastanglianbiker

    socket set

looking at that socket set at least half of them are imperial sizes none of which will fit your bike as everything on it is metric
  20. did u check where lead goes into cap as well as where it clips onto spark plug try changing plug as well the ceramic part of the plug could of got damaged
  21. dont forget to check plug lead where cap joins onto it
  22. did u grease up all the pins that the pads slide on and that the caliper might slide on i normally copper grease them
  23. sounds like it could well be head gadket problem with water around the head might also be a bit of piton slap in the bore and need new rings
  24. did he put new oil in it and was it motorcycle oil as putting oil designed for cars will make the clutch slip and it sounds like thats what you are describing.revs going up but bike getting no faster
  25. when was the last time it had a new spark plug and the air filter cleaned or replaced.might need new plug
