  1. Hey peeps, I have my CBT and lessons soon so wont be able to not go out if it is raining. I was wondering if leathers get ruined by the rain? To be honest if it is raining i will just wear the schools wet gear but it is good to know if my leathers will be ruined if they do get wet. Cheers Stu
  2. Lol I know. Going to feel like a bit of a charley but hey ho. The helmet is really nice mate. Comfy, well padded, not too heavy. I wanted the built in sun visor which is why I got it. Stu
  3. That was a bit of luck tbh. I originally wanted 2010 model but they did not have any in my size. Turns out a supplier sent them a 2011 model by mistake and it was my size. Snapped it up Cheers bud, the guy who was serving me recommended them. Just want to put it all to use now. Stu
  4. Good call mate, will have a look around. I only plan on using the bike in the dry once i have passed though. Stu
  5. oh ok cool. I have some leather feed/cleaner already so winner! Stu
  6. Cheers mate. Went with black and white so i dont need new gear everytime i get a new bike :0) Do i need to treat the leathers with anything? Stu
  7. Yes mate, love it. Well chuffed. Stu
  8. lol, true, There is a white one but not black and white! Personally i think it was good value. The lot came to £860. Some was last seasons so saved just over £450 :0). There was soooo much to choose from. Loved it. Stu
  9. Bought all my gear today from George 'White' in Swindon. Really good service and LOADS of gear to choose from at amazing prices... So here we go... Leather jacket = Alpinestars Jerez Moto GP http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0143.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0144.jpg Leather trousers = Alpinestars Track http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0141.jpg Boots = TCX Competizone RS http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0139.jpg Gloves = Berik 8087 http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0140.jpg Helmet = Shark 900 http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0145.jpg Oxford Plate back protector http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0142.jpg All together i look like a power ranger! http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0149.jpg I also took the opportunity to sit on a 2004 GSXR 600 which was a lot more comfortable than i was expecting... http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/stuno1/Motorbike%20Fun/IMG_0138-1.jpg Had a wicked time and can't wait to pass my DAS now and get a bike! CBT next weekend so bring it on. Stu
  10. Cheers folks, off to get my gear this weekend. Done loads of research and decided to go to a HUGE place in Swindon called 'George White'. Hoping to get leathers, boots, gloves and helmet for £900. Looking to buy last seasons stuff Stu
  11. Well I have finally been able to to book my das! Really excited to be honest. I have my Cbt next weekend and my mod2 in the first week of march. I wanted to do it all in one week originally but having talked to the test centre saw sense and decided to spread it all out. I hope to be riding a gsxr 600 by the end of April if all goes to plan :0) Will keep you posted. Stu
  12. yeah i remember that book, i read it and thought it was a bit obvious what was being written but then again i read it after doing about 15 track days so yeah would be obvious now. its a good book and does give you an insight what to expect. as above re open pit lanes, but then again every single open pit day will say "no first timers" so kind of speaks for itself. have a look here should tell you everything you need to know.... but honestly dont worry about it, i was worried i would hold people up (still do now ) but after a couple of laps you realise there are plenty people slower and you will be surprised how well you get on. Cheers people! I guess i will know when I am ready. I hpe to pass my DAS Feb time then go on a track day when the weather picks up. Will have a look at that link. Cant wait to do some ride outs and meet some folk :0) Stuart
  13. How much are bike track days? Do you go through a lot of pads, discs, tyres etc? Cheers for the reply. I wont be doing my DAS until ealry Feb but eventually want to get into track days for definate. I want to get a G ixer 600 :0) Stu
  14. Just wondered how long people waited to show their bike a track after passing. Appreciate it comes down to individuals confidence and ability. Stu
  15. Fingers crossed the guys near me are as good. It is a great offer either with or without the bogof. Stuart
  16. I am looking to do my DAS late Jan early Feb with the company below; http://www.camrider.com/prices/london-hendon.html They are doing BOGOF offer on a 6 session DAS at Hendon so will be a cheap way for me and someone else to get this nailed. If not no wories i will go it alone! PM me if you are interested. Stu
  17. I guess it comes down to an individuals perception of 'acceptable risk'. If there was only 100-200 in it i would go fully comp every time but it is almost 800 difference so makes sence to not go FC for now. Interesting to see peoples responses though. Stu
  18. Thanks for all the replys. I think i am going to go tpf&t and get the gsxr600 2006 onwards. It is a risk but as i mentioned previously, i have a bodyshop just down the road Stu
  19. That is pretty much what i am thinking, I have a bodyshop 5 minute walk from my flat as well so can take it to them if i need to.
  20. My issue is I am 27 and starting to ride next year but want a gsxr 600 2006 which will cost me 4k or just under and I dont have money for fc after spending 900 on gear, 600 on tests and 4k ish on a bike :0( Tpf&t is 550-600 and f. Is 1200 :0( Stu
  21. Just wondered what people have? Appreciate what both are and include but given the price difference wondered what people plumped for. I am assuming most have fully comp given the fact you are more likely to drop or prang a bike than damage a car. Stu
  22. added to my favorites bar. top job
  23. Don't think anyone can 'judge you' mate. It is not ilegal, you know the risks, you accept the risks. It is all personal opinion thats all. Stuart
  24. Cheers, i just got them as well
  25. I do not ride (yet!) but am suprised to see so many people wearing jeans! If you come off, even going 30MPH they will be warn through in seconds. A lot of bikers I talk to always start the 'have you ever crashed' question with 'Well the only time i didn't wear all my gear and.....' Persinally i will always wear my gear no matter how short the trip and if the trip is ever so short i can't be bothered to put it all on i will drive! For those that can't drive take a walk. It just is not worth the risk imo. Stu
