  1. I guess it comes down to an individuals perception of 'acceptable risk'. If there was only 100-200 in it i would go fully comp every time but it is almost 800 difference so makes sence to not go FC for now. Interesting to see peoples responses though. Stu
  2. Thanks for all the replys. I think i am going to go tpf&t and get the gsxr600 2006 onwards. It is a risk but as i mentioned previously, i have a bodyshop just down the road Stu
  3. That is pretty much what i am thinking, I have a bodyshop 5 minute walk from my flat as well so can take it to them if i need to.
  4. My issue is I am 27 and starting to ride next year but want a gsxr 600 2006 which will cost me 4k or just under and I dont have money for fc after spending 900 on gear, 600 on tests and 4k ish on a bike :0( Tpf&t is 550-600 and f. Is 1200 :0( Stu
  5. Just wondered what people have? Appreciate what both are and include but given the price difference wondered what people plumped for. I am assuming most have fully comp given the fact you are more likely to drop or prang a bike than damage a car. Stu
  6. added to my favorites bar. top job
  7. Don't think anyone can 'judge you' mate. It is not ilegal, you know the risks, you accept the risks. It is all personal opinion thats all. Stuart
  8. I do not ride (yet!) but am suprised to see so many people wearing jeans! If you come off, even going 30MPH they will be warn through in seconds. A lot of bikers I talk to always start the 'have you ever crashed' question with 'Well the only time i didn't wear all my gear and.....' Persinally i will always wear my gear no matter how short the trip and if the trip is ever so short i can't be bothered to put it all on i will drive! For those that can't drive take a walk. It just is not worth the risk imo. Stu
  9. I 'googled' free theory motorbike test and found loads! just keep taking them. different questions come up so i am learning them as i go along and getting practice. Only found 2 free 'Hazard awareness' tests though. Stu
  10. That makes sense. Definately the way forward. Just dont want to buy gear then a few months later regret it for the sake of trying to save £200 quid. Also, is there anything you can treat leathers with to make them water repellant? Stuart
  11. I think i will do my CBT first and see how i get on, i know i will love it though! Hopefully i will do ok and be able to do my DAS with few or little issues! Thanks for the advice people, it is appreciated. Stuart
  12. I have had my drivers licencse for 9 years and ridden push bikes regularly but like you say, until i get on a bike who knows how i will cope. I do want to do the fast track and have heard from some that while learning in the cold and wet is not much fun it makes you a better and safer rider. Stuart
  13. Hopefully i will sell my car in the next 2 weeks so i can start to book my DAS including CBT. I will probably do the 5-6 lesson one as i have never ridden a motorbike before. I was wondering how long it took people to complete their DAS, i am hoping to be riding early next year...is that realistic? Stuart
  14. Congratulations mate...I am desperate to sell my motor so i can book my tests
  15. Having looked around i have found i can get boots, gloves, spine protector, lid, leather jacket and trousers for £610 if i buy RST jacket and trousers but £840 if i buy Alpine Star jacket and trousers. My question is this, i can afford the £840 but are the alpine star jacket and trousers worth the extra in terms of safety and quality? P.S. found the gear at a bike outlet store in Slough :0) Stu
  16. Thats odd, Frank Thomas gear is actually more expensive so you would assume better quality. Need to do more research!
  17. Appreciate still comes down to fit to a degree, but if you had to get one of the above which would you get? Both seem to me low to medium entry leathers but wondered if one was better than the other. Stu
  18. Just wondered if people have used either and what their opinions are? Both reviews seem good but both say are not the quitest helmets. Not much in them price wise either. I want a helmet with the visor built in. I guess it will come down to which one fits better. BUT is one brand better quality than the other? Stu
  19. StuNumber1.. New COD in November!
  20. Cheers for all the replies people. Have made up my mind to get RST gear.
  21. Hi evryone, Hopefully i will sell my car soon so will be looking for all the gear. So far i am swaying towards RST leathers, boots and Gloves. They seem good, have all the protection in terms of spine protector, shoulder protectors etc, good stitching and so on. However i know noting about bike gear and wondered if it is any good? Stuart
  22. I have been searching and found a few in Essex and one in Slough but wondered if anyone can recommend a good one that they have used? It would be for the CBT and DAS. Stuart
  23. Thats great. i will buy the lot then as i am definately doing the DAS.
