  1. Well after looking outside this morning and totally disagreeing with the MET office's report that it was torrential rain i took her out on a zigzag both directions (just a very hot sunny day) spin from Rochdale onto the A58 A629 back onto the A628 then onto the A6 stopped at the mini roundabout for left to Chesterfield right to Matlock and went back home.

Used one and a bit fuel tanks and did a decent guess 120m took about 4 hours and got the feel of the bike, great fun.

About 10 miles from home the service light came on so combining that with the faulty switch i phoned Aprilia dealers in Liverpool - where the bike was originally bought from, told them the problems and they want me to pop in to replace the switch/reset the digi readout for no charge as its still under warranty!

Topping that with my son being two today overall its been a very nice day (excluding the aching back from new leathers) :) :)

  2. We're coming From Stockport through Clitheroe, Settle, Hawes, Devils Bridge and over to the lakes.

Now that sounds like a decent ride.

Thinking logically, i might 'skip' this meet so i can buy the necessary equipment to be able to enjoy an overnight stay as well as be safe on the bike. I'd really like to get up for the weekend but I cant justify the costs at the moment so i think i will have to bow out and get everything for the next event, pretty gutted as it would be good to meet all in my favourite place in the UK...

  3. I'm hoping someone knows the fix on this to save me spending even more money, I've Googled for a few hours and got no results so fingers crossed.

The shiver has an electronic dash with a mode select button to change through digital readouts, ave speed ave fuel consumption etc - i want to reset the displays and the online manual states i simply select which readout i want to reset and press 'in' the mode button. When i do this it does not work, so i assume there is a fault with the button.

Is there a way to fix it without taking it back to a dealers?

    Thanks in advance

  4. 2nd trip to work today. Dual carriage way with a white van man behind me (it was blue but you know what i mean). Lights turn green, i stall it and see the van slam on his brakes just in time before driving in to me. Restart pull away...... Stalled again.

Lights turn red (i was at the front of the queue all the time), blue van man changes lanes and sits on my left so he doesn't get stuck behind me again. I didn't have the bottle to turn my head to look at him. My helmet spared my blushes.

Same as many, dropped the bike while doing the CBT, trying the u-turn slower than Einstein calculated and dropped it. A week after i passed i was going to Lincoln and i was stuck behind 3 or 4 cars who were stuck behind a learner. We was on a dual carriageway and they were all on the right hand lane ready to turn a the on-coming roundabout, so i thought ok i can undercut these before the roundabout... Sunday morning dew i overtook easily went to brake and skidded right across the roundabout and stopped halfway.. I cut my shin bad on the break pedal but the pain was nowhere near as bad as the red heat omitting from my face!!

    Good times :)

  5. Typical RAF the luxury of metal off the floor :)

My time was a long time ago I had just turned 17 straight from school and directly into the AAC Harrogate then over to Catterick, it was where the SLR was taller than me and i suffered doing the 3 pikes challenge and halfway up Scafell Pike my knee's caved and so did my career....

I still get flashbacks, good ones thought :)

I'm looking at the kit i need to take and whether i can get it into a rucksack or maybe buy a bag for the back, considering i just spent £4k (and rising rapidly), the RSM is trying to tie my wallet together lol

  6. The last time i went camping under the stars i was wearing combats and didn't have the option of luxury or what food to eat, luckily the food was poor and we were quite busy..

I'm not sure on the stay over, no tent no sleeping bag etc but i might get up for the day ride on Saturday, unsure as of yet but I'm planning...
