  1. Thanks Guys!! I will join you then. See you tomorrow at 6 at the BP
  2. Don't worry about the restriction mate! my bike is still restricted, barely started actually 23 months to go! We're meeting this wednesday - the more the merrier I am guessing you have only passed your test recently so congrats. For the ride out you lads are going on my 125cc ybr will not be up to the speeds you lads will wanna go. i mean like at 70 on dual carriageways i would be stuck at 50ish. fat guy on 10bhp 125 = tractor speed - unless i get a tail wind then i may see 60+ If you do a local ride and don't mind riding at a slower pace then It would be great to meet you guys for a ride out!!
  3. Roll on 4th August 2012 as this when my restriction is up and I definately intend to get a big bike so I can join you all!
  4. never used them myself as bike bought new and no mot yet but i know lings on foxhall road near the golf pub do mot's.
  5. Well I can say that i don't really notice a difference on my ybr 125. I have a 37 litre top box cheapie off ebay and doesnt seem to affect performance. Even with my padlock chain and work bag in it i still easily do 55-60mph on dual carriageway (70mph with the wind behind me )
  6. What model was it? Yamaha YBR 125 2009 59 plate When did you buy it and how much did it cost? Bought new in October 2009 from main dealer in Ipswich. 2K was the list price. Good points? cheap to run, 80+mpg, cheap insurance. Great little commuter bike easy to filter on and very reliable. very easy to ride and a very forgiving bike for newbies. Was my learner bike and still got it now as main bike year and half after passing test as its a great little bike. Good resale value. Bad points? its a 125 so don't expect to be able to do more than 55-60mph on it up a hill or in a headwind. bit lightweight in strong winds. You do get buffeted about. Would you get another? Yes.
  7. Could try selling stuff on gumtree as an alternative? ebay = fleabay.
  8. Congrats now you can dump the l plates and think about a bigger bike! (says he who's still on his ybr! _)

    bike/car

Unfortunately I have to use my car for work purposes so it gets used more than the bike. I changed my job shortly after getting the bike so it kinda put to bed my idea of using it as a daily commuter. I have take equipment out and about with me and can't carry it out on the bike.
  10. To be honest Iam a fair weather rider me apart from when caught out by the good old british downpour. Me old banger tin cage is kept on the road for wet and wintry weather cos its there to be used and abused!. The bike takes residence in my garage during wet weather and the winter.
  11. mod 1 is most difficult in my view. I did the old style test last year and was absolutely pooping myself throughout the whole test. My nerves were shot to bite, bike wobbled everywhere but somehow I passed. What was even more impressive (well I thought so anyways) was that I had completed it with a puncture, as back in the parking area the examiner commented how low back tyre looked and by the time i had got home it was completely flat! (maybe thats how i got the one minor on the emergency stop by locking up the rear.. or was that when i punctured it Mod 2 nae problem - just like listening to a sat nav. Mind you i did take the "easier" route and passed both tests on my 125 so now restricted until August 2012, but hey ho gives me a chance to save for a big bike
  12. well done yoshi you will breeze mod 2 as think of the examiner as a sat nav
  13. If you take your test on a C90 you will be taking the light licence test* - basically restricting your self. see below blurb copied from government website: *category A1 (light motorcycle) - a solo motorcycle between 75 and 125 cc, with a power output not exceeding 11 kilowatts - passing your test on a machine in this category will enable you to ride machines up to 125 cc as a full licence holder* category A2 (standard motorcycle) - a solo motorcycle between 121 and 125 cc, capable of exceeding 100 kph (62.5 mph) - passing your test on a machine in this category will enable you to ride machines with a power output not exceeding 25 kilowatts (33 brake horse power) as a full licence holder for a period of two years; after the two year period the restriction will be automatically lifted and you may ride larger machines category A (unrestricted) – a solo motorcycle with a power output of at least 35 kilowatts (46.6 brake horse power) - passing your test on a machine in this category under the Direct Access Scheme or Progressive Access Scheme will enable you to ride a motorcycle of any engine size and power output You must use the same category of machine for both parts of the practical motorcycle test. You must use the same category of machine for both parts of the practical motorcycle test. See cobbz guide on this forum for full details
  14. When I took my mod 2 in August 2010 i had the 830 appointment (ipswich the roads were like a car park at that time of day ) - there was still plenty of traffic around considering it was school holidays and i spent quite a bit of my test in traffic. I did not filter at all and got no comments from examiner whilst on test. Even when I got back to the test centre i had not got any minors for not filtering. I would sit in the traffic - I was never shown prior to my test by instructor and there is nothing in the DSA list about filtering. End result Pass.
  15. I have not touched my bike since the weekend when bullet came round and rescued me when my pump broke (and at the same time as the pump breaking, it let my front tyre down to 14 psi lol). But yes, i think the back is on about 32 right now, front at 25. Ive read the tyre wall and it says "MAX LOAD 500LBS at 40PSI" Basically im gonna go to the garage at some point and pump the back one up to about 35 psi. As for new tyres, i got a quote yesterday for some pilot sportys (suppose to be the best tyres for small bikes)... but your looking at 150 quid fitted. I could maybe get them for about 125 if i sourced them myself then had them fitted somewhere else. Still a lot of money tho, which i dont have right now I have learned to live with my stock tyres - mind you i have had 18 months to get used to them now . But in the wet and over white lines they can be a bit of a handful. I have also read on here that the sporty pilots are meant to be good - but thats a lot o muller to spend on tyres if they do not need replacing and do we know if they acrually make a difference! Keep on riding and before you know it you will have your knee down like rossi (well maybe not go that far but you WILL get used to the tyres and grip)
  16. Thats 20p too much cos air should be free!
  17. Another thought - there is a good video on you tube (or was) with some dude that recorded his mod 1. Worth a look if its still on there
  18. Took me about 10 months before i got round to doing my mod 1after completing cbt. I had 2 hours with riding school one avo practising on there course that they had set up. i also set up my own course in a not so private car park with small flower pots ( ) to practice slalom and figure o eigh, Manoevring the bike used three spaces. I also used the road area in between the car park spaces to practice u turn. Missus helped me to practice slow ride - The only thing i couldnt practice in my own little test centre was the high speed swerve and emergency stop ( i just hacked it across the car park then jammed on the brakes. Did this for 3 hours two nights the week before the test and passed first time. Helped me a lot. i had no speed trap equipment though which would have helped. Used my own 125 so guess that makes a difference knowing the bike and all that You should be able to find the course layout online then create your own - I did a google search to find it. On your mod 1 remeber to do all appropriate shoulder checks and lifesavers - Remeber you have to treat as if you are on a public road and not in a test centre car park! Good luck
  19. 2009 Yamaha YBR 125 -First bike. its seen me through mod 1 and mod 2.
  20. I get a nice view of my arms shoulders on my YBR 125 as well
  21. I got a ybr 125. I run the front at 25 psi and back at 35 psi works okayfor me and I aint light and have a topbox as well! I do find the same as you though that the ybr does feel like its gonna slide out on painted lins, manhole covers etc. mine still has original tyres. Dunno if it would make a difference putting on better quality tyres????? i use my electronic halfords tyre inflator does the trick - if in doubt check afterwards with a tyre pressure guage.
  22. Sideview for ya Susieque Aso some other pics I have taken. The topbox was from ebay its 36 litre and loncin is the model name. it was 27 squid so not a bad price. Took approx one hour to fit - but then I aint no mechanic LOL (also no instructions were included so I had to figure it out myself!)
