  1. Would just like to clarify at no point did I say I wanted a bigger horn to beep at people purposely because I kept finding myself in dangerous position. Not even entirely sure how and why everyone jumped on the band wagon. Either way I've found a solution to my issue so job done. but obviously you would still like to say thanks to those who offered help and answers to your question...

    DIY dyno. ish...

so you didnt even bother to call the companies that were reccomended to you when you first asked about Dyno'ing your bike? hmm. and to answer your question, if you have years of experience of tuning bikes then you'll be able to have a fairly decent attempt at tuning using a "butt dyno", if not, you'll be needing a proper dyno to show you your AFR/power curve through the rev range and then you will be able to see exactly where the AFR needs tweaking to provide the correct fuelling to improve power and eliminate flat spots etc.
  3. thats one of the most sensible things a new rider has ever said on here. i know not everyone has that sort of money to spend, but it is a realistic budget to kit yourself out with decent year round protection and its a nice change to see that a new biker has realised that. depending on where you are located you could go to the BMF tail ender show 14/15 sep at peterborough. its not as big as the May BMF show but it will still have plenty of vendors selling every bit of bike gear you could need and at decent prices. you can spend the day trying on different bits of gear/ helmets etc, work out what you like and more importantly, what fits, then google the kit you like and get the vendors to price match it. thats what i do when i go to the BMF. try and get gortex boots as they will be usable all year round, same witth decent ce armoured textile jacket and trousers with removable thermal linings. winter gloves are horrid in the hot weather and summer gloves are dangerous in winter (cold hands vastly reduce yur throttle and brake control) so you might need two pairs. if you fancy leathers, AVOID NO BRAND CHEAP RACE SUITS! only buy protective gear from reputable manufacturers and not some market trader who is punting out "fashion" leathers, cheap gear is cheap for a reason. as for helmets. prob the most important decision youll make in your biking life. yes, a cheap brand helmet may have a CE or BS kite mark but it will not be built to the same standard as say a shoei or arai. cheap helmets tend to be noisy and will not have had the same R&D budget as the top brands have invested. you'll pick up a very good helmet for a couple of hundred quid. if you can stretch to it, a decent back protector should be on your list too. if you unsure of decent brands then i'll start a list of the manufacturers i have bought from and reccomend (i'll include the exact model if ca remember them). hopefully others will chip in with their reccomendations. Silencer

really? i didnt know that was where they were supposed to go. i have used them in tha past and fitted them in the can itself. fitting in the link pipe would be very restrictive.
  5. boothy. religion is not a joke. millions of people have been massacred over the millenia over something far more serious than a "joke". and if people want to believe in sky fairies then thats their prerogative. you'll get yourself in trouble preaching your non religious sermons young man. now appologise this instant.
  6. then dont wear it when youre off the bike personally i would not wear it but i totally respect why you choose to. there must be a way to obliterate the logo, maybe with paint and a stencil or maybe a glue on patch of some sort. after all you wouldnt want a poxy scoota logo to spoil its dapper style. if it were all black it wou;ld look a bit like a stab/tactical vest..
  7. its a shame for anyone who attended it and those that never attended have missed out. the gatherings at folville were good and attended by both cars and bikes of every style. it was a great atmosphere and a nice way to spend an evening. i never noticed any antisocial behavior or annamosity from the villagers. they even allowed vehicles on the village green and cricket lawn. its a shame its not going to be the big official gathering anymore, but i can see it continuing in a unnoficial capacity as it was too popular to just stop.
  8. renntec!! with a top box?? hell no. i wanted to get a renntec rack and fit a top box to it for my trip around europe. i looked at their website and noticed they sell racks and universal top boxes. so youd think you could fit their universal top box to their rack, right? nope. renntec do not advice placing any weight over 2Kg on their racks and when i contacted them to see if this was a typo they told me not to fit a top box as it will way over the safe weight limit and the the rack really shouldnt be used for anything over 2kg. 2Kg? thats the about the weight of an empty top box and adapter plate lol. then add the contents of what ever you cram into the box plus the forces applied to it by the wind blast. personally, if the manufacturer is not confident in their product then i wont entertain using it. i ended up buying a ventura luggage system. no complaints and absolutely no issues with it. back to the OP actual question though. if i had a choice and practicality was more important than looks or style then i would opt for a box rather than tail pack or any other soft luggage option. as others have said, theyre water proof, lockable, simple to remove, sturdy and piss easy to use.
  9. you can get 12v air horns. no doubt ebay will have them.
  10. cheers, i'll give them a bell.
  11. i have oxford cold killer baselayer trousers for the, erm, cold weather. i use a canterbury under armour compression top for when riding in my one piece as its super slippy and it helps getting it on and off. same with Aldi's thin baselayer trousers, theyre ok for use under leathers. i also bought aldis cold weather baselayer top and bottoms but i have yet to try these out yet. but i cannot see why they wont be good for the money they cost.
  12. yes he has. i gained the 8 points over him yesterday. he opted for cal and bautista in gp, a good choice but i have marquez and asparagus whoi scored the extra points. as you are obviously refering to him not changing his team the previous round. your right, i did not tell him it was a transfer window. but he already knew and opted for a no team change strategy. he neraly opted for cluzel over baz though, which would have caused me issues in the WSB lol
  13. whoop whoop. i have overtaken my little shit of a son.
  14. matty. do you have access t a mate witht he same bike? if so, borrow his discs for the MOT. if his disks fail the mot too then it might add more weight to the ida that your bike might be the cause, not to disks. has your bike ever been crashed? bent wheel spindle or flattened bearings could cause similar symptoms to warped disks

    Is it cheaper?

yes mate. i'll post a video of me buying them on youtube for you

    Is it cheaper?

i bought my trainers from M&M direct.com. theyre a size 12. also my local spar has baked beans at half price.
  17. are you sure you can ente rthe south of cyp via the north? the border was tightly controlled and when i lived there it was not easy to cross without a valid reason. for example, you could fly to the northern airport if your hotel and holiday are in the south. when we used to travel from south to the north, we were only allowed a short stay permit. things might well have changed in the last 4 years but i would triple check before you book anything because you wouldnt want to arrive in the north only to find out that the south wont let you in.
  18. cheers moo. i will see phil on monday at the bike club meeting so i'll ask him then.
  19. cheers deso. its a bks suit with titanium sliders and stingray leather abrasion areas. its awesome quality and it should have been around £800 rrp so i am loathed to give up on it.
  20. my one piece race suit is too small for me. its not actually tight on my waist but rather too short in the body, too tight accross my back and too tight around my thighs. tbh it was too bloody tight when i bought it a couple of years back but i was swayed by the massive discount i got at the bmf. i had always hoped it would give and stretch more than it has but now it actually hinders my movement when moving around on the bike. but as it is a top quality suit i dont want to shell out several hundreds of pounds to replace it, so i am thinking of having it altered/tailored to fit me properly. i know it is possible to have leathers altered and there a few companies who advertise on the web but has anyone on here actually had their leathers altered and if so, was it a success and worth the money?
  21. lol. cheers bob. it would be a laugh to have a tmbf day at a race school. however, even with a group discount i imagine the cost would put an end to that idea.
  22. my mate phil owns Cambridge Motorcycles, give them a call as i am sure he would know somewhere local to the area. failing that, theres BSD in peterborough or a place called Track Electronics in norwich. both are good and if they cannot help you directly will know who can.
  23. they do two schools. the premier class; 2013 cbr600rr. the elite class; 2013 cbr1000rr with datalogging and 1 on 1 tuition. it costs an extra £100 but yo get more track time. so yes, everyone in our group was on the same type of bike. they also offer a type of school too called the on track experience, which is aimed at new riders. basically teaches proper bike control to those who want to improve their riding. minimum age is 12 so i guess my eldest son will be pestering for this next year lol
  24. me and rebel rach spent an afternoon at donington with the ron haslam race school. i would have to recommend it to anyone who fancies a track day but doesn't want to risk crashing their own bike. the cost was £289 for the afternoon. and that includes everything you need including the bike, leathers, helmet, gloves, boots. you get 3 x 15 minute track sessions with debrief/instruction in between sessions. it works on a 1 instructor to two student ratio and all of the instructors are current/ex racers. this is the second time i have done this race school but the first was at silverstone last year; in my opinion the full donington track is much better. it was rach's first time on a track and she loved it. there were 12 other blokes in our group she was faster than the lot of them. my highlight was chatting to leon haslam and bump starting his bike for him as his battery was flat. well, he did have a broken leg and very bad limp ( herr flick of the gestappo) so i'll let him off lol. didnt stop him thrashing a blade around the track with his dad though. awesome to watch those two in action. heres a couple of pics of me making the 2013 (dull and totally gutless) cbr600rr look tiny. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5503/9618288208_292d9149f5_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7428/9618294876_61df76f173_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7424/9615068143_a67d29cea7_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7306/9618298874_2a202de338_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7367/9618314416_900c7c2a1b_b.jpg
  25. if it was on a dull commuter that only ever pootled along then yes, as long as the side wall was 100%. as it is on your fireblade then no. the forces and heat generaated in a trye being ridden hard are trememndous and there is no way of telling how the repair is holding up and if it might fail. thats the reason they are called temporary and are only limited to 50mph or so. it is not worth the risk. go video yourself doing a huge burnout and put it on youtube lol. then fit a new tyre.
