Throttled wrote: Whoever suggested The Glen Cafe and the Tibetan place should get an award, the roads are superb Glen Cafe was little Ol me Tibetan centre was Silverspring TBH i have been impressed with quite a few of the places that members have put forward. Places where i would never of gone to normally Can't believe I didn't stop to take a photo of this place! i even stayed at the Buccleah Arms on Monday night after 3 days riding around scotland, I got the Green Welly and the Commando memorial but did not have internet coverage to check the others! That ride on the A708 to Selkirk was a great road but had to be careful of the sheep on the first part.
  2. Bugger! Just got back from 1,00 mile round trip over 4 days in scotland, actually stayed at the Bucclleah Arms in Moffat but forgot it was on the list!! Don't know what my mate did with my camera but the commando memorial he took as a black and white.
  3. I"d say it was a lot worse than labour. Been there for my four kids, compared to what I went through it was a walk in the park!
  4. It was just supposed to be a simple check up procedure, on further discussions there is no real urgency which I wish I had know before had as I would have said no thanks to start with!
  5. Just tried to have a wee, it was like trying to pass hot salt and razor blades, and blood too. All after a failed 30 minute torture at the hospital... called urodynamics Ok Mr Browne, get undressed, we are going to put a catheter up your penis into you bladder and then a balloon up your rectum to measure the pressure. just relax and don't worry its a simple procedure. First some cold gel up your penis... **!!!!** Now relax, don't tense it will feel a little funny. Oh My God, it was like a knife going up my willy, got it so far up but as I was not relaxed my penis was thinking "what the f**ks this, don't fancy letting this up. Relax Mr Browne, cough for me, Cough, Push, ARGHHH! No Mr Browne, your all tense, Oh? (Why the f**k is that I think.) Pretty nurse says I’m doing really well, so for the 2nd attempt she holds my hand. Same again, Push, Cough Arghhh!!! Nearly crush nurses fingers. No Mr Browne, Listen if you don't relax the only other way to do this procedure is to take you to theatre, put a wire up you, with a little camera, hook the camera back out and then use the wire to insert the catheter, lets try again shall we, now just relax. Ok, thats fine up we go, ok small cough for me, cough. NO you can do better than that, COUGH. COUGH COUGH COUGH, ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!! Mr Browne if your all tense your sphincter clamps up and I can get the catheter up. Get dressed now and lets discuss. I hobble into changing room feeling like there is a hot pipe cleaner up my willy. Nurse gets me a drink and tells me not to lock the door. Sit down with the doctor to look at my ultrasound scans. Well the next procedure in your diagnosis is this urodynamics, so you could come in for an out patients day and we use the wire to get the catheter into you. What do the ultrasound scans show? Well your gall stone is about 1cm but if its not causing you any problems we can just leave it alone. And your kidney cyst is nothing to worry about. So do we have to do these urodynamics? We'll if your not having any real problems and I can tell by looking at you you don't like the idea we can just leave it for review in a year or if the problem gets any worse. Nah! not that big a problem I said, we'll review it in a year. I hobbled out and drove home with my legs spread gingerly holding onto myself. I am still stinging and burning drinking pints of water and dreading next visit to the loo.
  6. I have a great textile jacket and pants from Heine Gerike, that so far have done me well all year in all weathers. I am doing a four day tour of Scotland in June and have it in my mind that I will need a set of leathers but having been through the shops and as the manager at Heine Gerike said "What you have is fine, if its too hot take out the linings” I am thinking do I really need to spend £400 on Leathers. I am not yet desperate to do a track day though it is something I would like to do sometime in the future. What do you do? Do you have both textiles and leathers?
  7. I still only have my heavy armoured textile suit at the moment and want to buy some new gear for summer riding, I will get a leather jacket, and summer gloves but thinking about the trousers, kelvar jeans or leathers? I want to be comfortable, if I go for leather its going to be hot and sticking in the sunny days? Advice would be welcome. Thanks
  8. use google... is it cheating I keyed all of the names in and there are a lot around my area on the Wirral, should be able to do about 5 in one ride... there are a few that mean a bit of journey.
  9. My son is seven and can now sit on the bike and reach the footpegs, I would like to take him out for a few gentle rides, he may or may not like it? So I need to get him a helmet - best advice for this from anyone with similar story? How long can a kids helmet last while he continues to grow, can you get different linings for them? I'd buy helmet from a dealer new so any recommendations would be good. But then his other gear, would you buy on ebay? is there much of it about? what do you do? Thanks
  10. Had a place for 5 years with the same tenants, my wife knew them from work so we let them the house we had just bought as an investment. Didn't use an agent or take a deposit, though they did sign a contract and contents etc, anyway we let them have dogs, decorate themselves, things they did without permission was replace the lawns with flags and paving stones, replace the gas and electric meters for pay as you go. Ok I can live with these Then for medical reasons for which I had some sympathy then needed to move, promised to decorate etc put things back but then left on very short notice, went to see them at the house and just asked them to do one thing, take down the massive dog kennel they had built in the back and at least pay one month of the two months notice period. Agreed this and so they dropped off the keys. Get into the house to discover its filthy, food left in the fridge, marble fireplace wrecked, electric fire to be replaced, complete redecoration needed. Ok so you expect to spruce the place up a bit after such a long tenancy but then what really upset me... Outside the back gate the bins are there to be emptied, typical green wheelie bin, brown wheelie bin for garden waste etc, go to put them back in the yard, take hold of the green bin and its weighs a ton! Can't budge it an inch wtf I think no wonder the bin men have not emptied it, same with the brown bin. Open it up and its full of soil and rubble... so after much effort I get it into the back yard and think my only option is to get a spade and start to empty this soil and rubble into the borders, put some compost on top and a few flowers... thats my plan... So get the first top layers of soil etc onto the border, put the bin on its side to make it easier but then discover what is really in the bin as i have to pull away and am retching and am almost sick there and then. Whats in the bin? LITERALLY ALL THE DOG SHIT AND CRAP THAT WAS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE KENNEL THEY DISMANTLED. Had to put it back outside, how do I get this sorted? Now I have lost all sympathy for them and even think I want to sue them for having to redecorate, replace the fire and fix all the other damage in the house. Lessons learnt - NO DOGS - take a deposit.
  11. Same happened to my kids, even in kids football there seems to be certain clicks. My lad does karate now instead and loves it.
  12. could do with asking a bit of advice...
  13. First one for me, today in North Wales at the Ponderosa
  14. HI, I want to do my first track day and Oulton Park is quite close to me. Looking at booking on the easytrack website and booking into the rookie group. There is an additional option for Novice all day in depth for an extra £95 on top of the £125 fee for the day. Has anyone done this and is it good value to take the optional in depth? Also reading through the dos and don't it look like the main thin I need to do is get a set of leathers, should I go for an all in one or a two piece? So far have just riden in textiles from HG. They also talk about bringing spare levers etc, I really don't want to push it and chance dropping the bike, is it common to come off on a track day or are they just covering themselves. Would really value your thoughts or experience on this. I have been riding a year now. Thanks
  15. My MOT is due up next couple of weeks and I need to replace my tyres, One garage has given me a quote for bridgstone at £240 fully fitted etc, and an other garage has said they will charge £20 per wheel to fit if I supply the tyres. I am getting them fitted when the bike has its MOT so its not a matter of just taking in the wheels. If I buy them myself what would you recommend, its fitted with dunlops at the moment and have been told these are very hard and I might be better with a softer tyre, I am fairly new to riding, coming up to one year and am not aggressive with the bike. I want tyres that I can run in quickly and feel safe and grippy leaning into corners. Should I buy myself or ask the dealer to do the lot Cheers
  16. yeah, thanks that would be good, I am going to ask my mate (we are both fairly new bikers) if he wants to come as well, I was thinking of doing a b&b the night before but does that just not mean you have to hang around all day waiting for the event to start? and at the other end would you not have to wait until the afternoon to get into your accommodation?
  17. Would like to know a bit more about this and how other bikers cope with getting to the event and getting home afterwards. With riding all night one would assume to spend the full day before in bed, but the to get to the event start could take a 3 hour bike ride anyway. eg I would come form the wirral. And then after the event a ride back across the country from skegness - how have other bikes handled this?
  18. My badge... if anyone wants one pm me your number and email address and I will send you a pdf

  21. Hi, It does seem a bit random, turned back off and on and it went, then noticed when cruising at 70 on the motorway it would come back on, then once off the motorway pulled up in a bus stop, switched ignition off and on, then it dod=id not come back on at all when riding home on the A roads. Bit of a puzzle?
