  3. Just got it in August and the guy who owned it before, looked after it, got all service docs etc....but as to what oil is in it...aint got a clue, not too mechanically minded, the old grey cells dont like learning new things..lol It is going in tomorrow for them to check it out...hopefully it is something simple and cheap to fix.
  4. Got a 2008 baby vara and it has developed a strange problem, on the flat in fourth gear, when it suddenly starts juddering, then jumps out of gear into a false neutral, did it twice yesterday...but on the long hill we have near me, it was fine. Took it in to local dealers to see what they say, not a lot, adjusted the chain and lets see attitude. Left there and it did it again, this time in third gear, only once though. Now...is this clutch or the gearbox on their way out ?, which will not go with what they say about Honda's....bulletproof...lol, for this thing has done 21000 miles ..only. Hopefully it is something simple and wont cost an arm and a leg
  5. On both my bikes, the Derbi Terra and the baby Vara, go into 1st, 2nd but then wont go into 3rd, let alone any higher. I have to roll off the throttle and keep trying till it goes in, sometimes I have to do it without the clutch. The annoying thing is the Vara is only 5 days old (got knocked over when two days old) but the Derbi is now 10 months old (and this could be another thing to add to the list of faults) but what is happening ?. Some biker lads yesterday said something about the "spring", others said the clutch needs adjusting.....confused...please help, I look like such a noob going up the road with the bike reving like hell, trying to get it into gear..
  6. Oh yeah, it was fun at dialysis last night, blood pressure low....but the faces of the nurses who saw my weight, well it was a picture. They dont take fluid off me but one said we would not have to take fluid off you for a month with that weight loss To be honest here, I think I will leave booking another theory/perception test till I feel 90% again, so being at 40%, it may take some time
  7. It's the bug, lost nearly 4 kilos...practically living in the bathroom. I think someone up high dont want me to get on a bigger motorbike, she always hated motorbikes
  8. Why oh why does this happen to me, failed hazard perception by one point two weeks ago and I was due to take it today...but.....I get the dreaded vomit and diarrhea bug yesterday, left me feeling like crap. Still running to loo every ten minutes, so I think going there to do the test is not a good idea. No chance of getting money back as I have not given 24hrs cancellation.....which would have been difficult on a Sunday......why oh why....
  9. Lynn - It's ok, got the DVD and have been doing mock tests, which are either extremely easy or the DSA one is extremely hard..lol, for I have completed 15 mock tests and passed each one getting on average 67 out of 75 Toon - you would commit suicide at the place I took the test, for the women are not hot to say the least
  10. Got to wait till 25th July...God I hope I pass, got Three day DAS starting 14th August...well it's penciled in with the instructor
  11. Goddam failed theory and hazard by one point on hazard No excuses though...will not have large coffee beforehand next time, was not concentrating, brain was hyper...everything became a hazard..
  12. A little problem with that, they were in the bargain bin, so I dont rate my chances on that idea. But I will gladly allow you to come here and try for me Susieque I will be upgrading all my gear when I pass my test, for I most certainly want new "waterproof" trousers and new kit for the summer, something that is a lot cooler than this textile lot I have now, taken out the linings etc and I still cook.
  13. Just bought some "seam grip" to hopefully seal the seams around the crotch on my textile trousers. For it aint no fun going somewhere and having to sit there in soaking wet jeans, then put on soaking wet, cold textile trousers again to ride home. These things are only 4 months old, supposed to be waterproof..yeah right. Not amused to pay £150 and the damm things leak. So anybody used seam grip and will it do the job ?, dont want to be paying out for another pair.
  14. Yes it will but they said 5 to 7 days to get it, that was 10 days ago Just been out on a 20 mile run and nothing happened, so hopefully it was a one off.
  15. Coming home from dialysis last night and all the electrics went off, lights, dash, everything. Then within 2or 3 seconds, it seemed to reboot and everything came back on, the dash had "RD" flash up for awhile while it rebooted. Scared the c@@p out of me, dark "b" roads approaching a bend. Checked battery terminals etc, they seem fine. It is a Derbi terra 125, 3 months old, already blown side stand sensor, exhaust rusted, anything metal is badly corroded and that is after the day I got it, I sprayed it with ACF, now I have been told by the dealer to spray it with wd40...everywhere which is what he did whilst bypassing the side stand sensor, he covered the bike in wd40.......this wont have done anything to cause the above...would it ?
  16. Nope, it is the cheap bit's they use on Derbi's, got a Terra here and the fuel reserve light flashes when tank is full, though if you go over a bump, it will go off for a while. There is not a lot you can do except live with it (unless it is in warranty....then I cannot promise they will do anything, for my local dealer did'nt) and Derbi will not talk to you, you have to go through a Derbi dealer, for they will only talk to them.
  17. I have a Derbi Terra and to my knowledge, they do not make a center stand for them. As far as getting one to fit, that might be like looking for a needle in a haystack. What about a paddock stand ?
  18. One to add to the list, a Derbi Terra and the upgrade, Derbi Terra adventure. I own a Derbi terra and to be honest, it is a cracking little bike to ride, it is nippy in towns, fast enough to commute (short distances..ie 20 to 30miles), top end of 72, MPG of approx 85 (not fully worked this out yet...to throttle happy) (update, just gone onto reserve and looked at trip, only 130miles to 12 litres.. ) http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/Motorbiker_photos/NewsPics2/Derbi-Terra-RD-01.jpg
  19. Hi all, I have a little question about the Derbi Terra and to me, a design fault. Underneath the airbox is this rubber teat, which is not mentioned in the manual, it fills with water "daily" and if not emptied, starting the bike becomes difficult. As I found out on Sat morning at 6.30am when I was trying to go to dialysis. In fact the bike is now at the dealers, for it refused to start and the battery went a little flat...well pancaked Now I can not remember ever having this problem before, on the CG or the Superdream, do you think it would be all right, if I left this "teat" off and let the water drip out, it would only drip over the swinging arm.
