  1. Run out of time to do my Mod 2 on my existing photo licence which is due its ten year renewal in 10 days time. So that is yet another delay, f**k it!
  2. Not done Mod 2 yet, but 95% of the training has been towards Mod 2 with two 10 minute practices at Mod 1. That seems odd to me as each test carries the same weight.
  3. Bummer, but welcome to the forum
  4. Turned up early, so saw the instructor take out two people before me. He was very officious with them as he was with me when it came to my turn to have my documents checked. Once I had ridden into the yard he became a new man and was very encouraging and smiley. When I came to push the bike out of the parking space it would not move and he calmly said that I had left it in gear. Turns out that is not even a minor, phew. The slalom was fine but I had to do three figure of eights as I was not central through the cones the first time. The slow ride started off with him shouting too fast as I gave it a bit too much throttle. I then had enough impetus to free wheel the rest of that part. The U turn was fine, but as I continued to ride on with him looking at me I thought I better ask, should I stop now?! He came over, still all smiley and asked if I was listening to him. I apologised and said I was feeling very nervous. He explained the next part which was a run round the fast bend and through the speed trap and stop at cones. I had not realised you get a wee practice and pointed at some cones to confirm where he wanted me to ge and my hand was shaking. He said that I could pause if I wanted to, but I went on, booted it and recorded 50mph through the speed trap He advised that I keep the speed down for the emergency stop which I did at 33mph. The last part was the swerve, which I had been dreading as 5 practices had resulted in only one success. I went through the speed trap at 32mph and I am sure I felt my foot hit the cone, so a real downer as I came to a halt. But when I looked round, the cone appeared not to have moved. Thankfully it had not moved, so a pass with no minors!!! Yeah And that was with leaving the bike in gear, being made to an extra figure of eight, being shouted at to slow down for the slow run, being incredibly nervous and I am sure I touched that cone.
  5. The schools I have used are more like £40 per hour.
  6. Apologies, I assumed it was under the same principle of slow moving vehicles such as tractors using flashing amber lights as a warning. I think hazrds when towing are a good idea.
  7. You can use hazard warning lights when towing on a 70mph speed limit road. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_070302
  8. Poor Ed slaving away in the background. I hope you made him a nice cup of coffee!
  9. Yes, depending on your bikes engine and gears approach the junction in 1st, maybe 2nd so you can either stop or continue.
  10. I am very happy with my RST jeans, £60 at the Scottish Motorbike show.
  11. Was the acid treatment a paint on job like nitromors, or did you make up an acid bath?
  12. After my dismal CBT, (I don't know why the instructor gave me a certificate) I was sure the route for me was time and lessons and to get my own bike. Seven months later, numerous cancelled lessons/tests, I am thinking maybe I should bite the bullet and blast it in a week.
  13. Still another 2 weeks till I can try and sit my Mod1 again. And my new bike is just sitting there f**k it!
  14. Derbi have a couple of '15hp' learner legal bikes, but you cannot use them to sit your test on. Unless KTM argue their case with the DSA they will be the same.
  15. Balgrochan near Lennoxtown, up Crow Rd and over the Campsies, then down through Fintry avoiding the pot holes and then a great run to Killearn. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... =UTF8&z=12
  16. The max is 11kW or 14.7 hp. Unless it appears on this list (which it doesn't at present) you would need to argue your case be able to use it to sit your tests on http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg ... 197021.pdf
  17. Booked my bike in for a service and new chain a week ago. Dropped it off this morning and just got a phone call to say the chain has still not arrived and they need to keep it till tomorrow. Epic fail MCS Renfrew, I gave you a week to order a chain f**k it!
  18. It looks really mean, but can you get a less colouful version?
  19. Here is a superb biker road, running from Crieff to the Pool of Muckhart. You go through Glen Eagles and past the famous hotel and through the gold course and then dive down into Glen Devon. The raod surface is great and the twist and turns make for a very entertaining run. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... =UTF8&z=10 http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/3_25/3_25_1.JPG
  20. This brings back fond memories of helping a friend to restore a Villiers (never finished and returned to its owner, a relative of my mates) and then his first 125, a Suzuki I think. He would do the mechanical work and I would clean. I love cleaning and painting. I cant wait to see the the tank being transformed back to lovely painted and shiney.

    bike care

I spray my bike with ACF 50 and I wash it regularly with liquid Swarfega sprayed on with the Muck Off bottle I have. Muck Off also works well but is more expensive. I try and avoid putting a wet bike under the cover. I still get spots of rust and I treat them with Kurust and Halfords VHT paint (my frame is black) asap. There is no subsitute to elbow grease and keeping your bike clean and dry as much as possible. I have also found Silkoline Chain Lub, which goes on like a foam is very good at keeping crud and surface rust at bay on your chain. It stands up well to getting wet.
  22. You could try planking, it is apprently the new rage
  23. Re people at the side of the road. If they on the pavement just walking along they are not a hazard. But if they are like a car waiting at a junstion and could be in a position to cross they are.
  24. Last dat of my holiday. Hardly any time spent on my bike due to the crap weather and my test was cancelled. F**k it!
  25. I was trying to show Talister where the Dukes Pass is in relation to the Borders, I had noticed Dukes Pass in the original post, but not Borders. I suspect you would come to the route off the Edinburgh by-pass It would be a good run for you Revs and you can loop round back through Dunblane. It was part of my recent three day treck on my 125. I continued on from The Dukes Pass and went up to Aberfeldy and back down to Dollar through Glen Eagles and Glen Devon, also superb biking roads.
