  1. If I ever get my bike out that garage I'm planninmg to be there
  2. I'm on a GT125R too. Had it a year and its never missed a beat. I love the styling and find it comfortable even after a few hours in the saddle. Biggest issue has been one corroded connector which I can't really complain too much about as the bike gets used 7 days a week in all weathers.
  3. His insurance will go up if it is deemed to be his fault. Legally you are meant to tell the insurance about any incident, but we all know about that one. If both parties can come to an agreement outside that then it can be better all round
  4. Trace the positive feed from the battery up to the ignition - most likely a corroded connector (speaking from personal experience )
  5. If you've got decent textiles that are comfy them why change?
  6. Hairdryer normally does the trick, heat a small section then peel it off the wheel and move onto the next bit. Once its started it should come off pretty easy
  7. have a hunt on you tube. theres stacks of vids on both parts of the test. I'm hoping to sit mine in the next month or so, having a couple of lessons with the local training place then use their bike for the tests
  8. Just passed my theory test Wasnt expecting any real problems, but always get nervous before anything like that and had convinced myself I had fluffed it halfway through. Time to start getting ready for the real tests
  9. Is that the guys at chameleon? They're just round the corner from me, used them a few times
  10. I've got a stiff one Two bolts through the bottom of the number plate and then the top of the L plate. I did rip one after catching the corner over a low fence (walked the bike back to turn round n didnt realise I'd went back so far), but the replacement's been fine
  11. I've found the same, they are shower proof but not waterproof. Great gloves in the dry, very warm and not too bulky but have been disappointed by their performance in the rain

    Grips

Glad I read the whole post

    First tool set

any half decent socket set will take care of most jobs. After that, pliers, snips and a large hammer (in case of emergencies)
  14. 72 in a 50. 3 points and 60 quid. Many moons ago now though and (touch wood), stayed clean since.
  15. I got some Underarmour Coldgear as a base layer - worked a treat so far. Thin enough to go under my work clothes too
  16. I use a xena alarmed disk lock when I'm out and about, but at work even with a private carpark and CCTV I still chain it to the fence - too easy for some tw4t to lift it into a van for my liking. I leave that chain attatched to the fence and use another one in the garage. None of these would stop a determined theif, but hopefully will make the majority of them look for something a bit less awkward
  17. On my CBT the instructor took us down a few roads with these daft humps. His instruction was to avoid them where it was safe and to do the appropriate shoulder checks as we changed road positions round them i.e. left shoulder check if going round the inside of one followed by a right shoulder check as you move back into the centre of the lane and vice versa if going round the outside

    I wet myself

    cracking
  19. Just relax and enjoy it. my first time on a bike was my CBT and when I started 10 mph was too fast! Once the nerves settled I loved every minute
  20. I got a XENA XN18 (think thats right) for mine. Thatcham and Sold Secure Gold rated and got a nice loud alarm to remind me to take it off - only done that once so far, stood the bike up off the side stand wondered what all the noise was about for a second The guy I got it from emailed me a template for all the XENA disc locks by email. printed it out, done the Blue Peter bit with the scissors and picked the biggest one that would fit my disc
  21. not tried the pinlock yet, still saving for a better helmet. Bought a stick on type from ebay in the mean time, meant toreat to sunlight and darken accordingly. TBH has worked pretty well so far, only down point is it doesnt adhere to the visor properly all the way round. This means it lets in a wee bit of moisture and mists up at times. I imagine this is the same problem your having. from my understanding of proper pinlocks it sounds as though your is not fully sealed and is letting in summit it shouldnt
  22. maybe just worryin too much. Bike seems simpler than the car for a lot of stuff, but the wee nagging voice at the back of my head keeps saying its not that straight forward lol
  23. I'm looking at a couple up here. Been working on my car for years but still feel a bit out of my depth on the bike. Would rather go n get the basics shown to me than try it myself n cock it up lol
  24. I got the same issue with the long / fat fingers not sitting right in gloves. Spent a while in the bile shop trying on every pair I could see and flexing my hands as though I was riding etc. Not ideal, but did make me bypass a couple of pairs. Ended up with a pair of Weis ones, only problem is they're a short glove so I get a gap opening up between my glove and jacket occasionally. Ideal for the warmer weather, but I'll need to find something else when it turns cooler
  25. My first day out after my CBT I locked the rear wheel trying to stop for a granny who decided on a sudden direction change. Bike started to go sideways and I released and re-applied and managed to control it somehow. Slowed me enough to get round her tho and I've been more carefull how I use both brakes ever since
