http://www.caberghelmetshop.co.uk/Hyper ... od_47.html i have a Schuberth C2 flip front helmet - very comfy, good vision and quiet i also have a carberg Hyper x which can have the chin guard removed and used as an open faced helmet (visor comes right down below the chin in bad weather) and this is the one i use in the warm weather as it gives so much more visability and added bonus of more fresh air around the face without having to ride with flip front up (very dangerous)

might seem a silly question but are you pressing the top button and not the lowwer one? top button sets the alarm off , lower button arms/disarms it

my favourite touring gear is:- Hein gericke summer jacket & trousers (the airtec type ) cheap thin waterproof jacket and trousers (about £40 from J&S in Doncaster) these can also be used as extra layers first thing in the morning when it's cooler and the jacket can be used for wearing when going down to the pub instead of bike gear. one of the most important items is a spare set of gloves for when the first set get wet. heated grips ? nah get some waterproof overmits they keep the hands dry and retain any warmth

last time i went i came home and bought a new FJR i'm going again this year and our lass is very worried want to see the new BMW 1600 (just looking honest) but the one i really want to see is the Kawasaki Z1000 SX THERE MAY BE TROUBLE AHEAD

a group of us (3 couples + 2 singles) are off on a little bimble in September 2011 (it's their first time abroad on bikes) starting off from Hull to Rotterdam and heading for Badden Badden -Black Forest and the B500 then it's off to Italy to take in the Stelvio pass, Switzerland next (Innertkirchen) for a couple of days playing on the 3 mountain passes (Grimsel, Furka & Susta) then it's into France via The Grande st Bernard pass and a week in a Gite just outside of Bourg saint Maurice and plenty of local mountain roads. i've picked September because the roads are empty, cheap hotels and the weathers not too bad. there would have been another couple coming with us but they had such a good time at Nomads place this year they are going there again in 2011

i use it all year round as it makes the bike easier to keep clean before the winter salt gets put on the roads i spend a full day giving the bike a thorough wash /dry/polish then coat every metal surface (not discs of course) with acf50, when i do go out for a winter ride it's just a case of washing in clean water as the protection is still left in place.this is the bikes 3rd winter since i bought it and there is still no rust /corrosion anywhere so it must work....

we ve been touring around Europe including the Alps for the last 4 years (September time) and have tried different combinations. full 1 pc leathers = feel safer but when the weather got hot became unbearable,still needed waterproofs when raining and made them even worse. 2 pices fabric:- even these were uncomfy and the added bulk did n't help, no need for waterproofs though what we finally arrived at and have used them for the last two years is :- leather trousers (under leggings to stop them sticking to you) and an air tex jacket from Hein Gericke and a cheap waterproof overjacket & trousers first thing in a morning when the air is cool and damp just slip the overjacket on, when it gets warmer remove. last year we rode in temps down as low as 38 degrees (mountains) and as high as the 90s nr Milan and i found this the ideal bike wear. do n't forget spare gloves as yuor main pair are certain to get soaked at one point

try fresh petrol and clean the spark plug to start
