  1. Largely resolved, she found out most of the pics were automatically backed up from the phone to Google drive. Good result. Thanks for all the advice in the meantime folks.

Good result.........yeah, I back mine up to Google cloud automatically. .....keeps the phone memory from getting too cluttered as well..... 8-)

  2. Yesterday it was probably me.......just on my way towards home from a run to scrub new tyres in and followed 2 cars out of a junction onto a main road......They didn't seem to be in any great hurry and oblivious to the cars bearing down on us from behind......There was a car coming the other way, but it was a short way off, so I decided to go for the overtake and felt that I could take them both ......but I kinda misjudged the speed of the car coming the opposite direction......anyway, I passed the second car with the bike bouncing off the Rev limiter in 2nd gear and got in front of him in time......but it was a bit closer than I intended......no great drama.....but definitely a dick move on my part.....

  3. One advantage of paddock stands for overwintering is that it keeps the tyres off the ground. I'm not convinced it makes any difference to be honest but if possible when a vehicle is laid up I prefer the tyres to be raised.

In terms of the plate to go under the sidestand I've carried a square of plywood for this purpose but I need to upgrade. A lot of the places I visit now have gravel drives and the bike seems to slip slightly as the gravel settles - a couple of times I've come back and found the stand right at the edge of the plate. I've seen plastic plates with a small lip round them which would solve this but I am sure there is an alternative that avoid the necessity of actually paying a silly amount for a little round bit of plastic.

Visit a few bike shows......there's usually someone there giving away sidestand pucks......We used to have quite a collection of them.....

  4.

Signals and position. When taking the first exit, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

signal left and approach in the left-hand lanekeep to the left on the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave.

When taking an exit to the right or going full circle, unless signs or markings indicate otherwisesignal right and approach in the right-hand lanekeep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundaboutsignal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.

When taking any intermediate exit, unless signs or markings indicate otherwiseselect the appropriate lane on approach to and on the roundaboutyou should not normally need to signal on approachstay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundaboutsignal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.

So, the text doesn't actually say that when taking any intermediate exit ie: straight on, that you should get into the left hand lane? Select the appropriate lane on approach, unless road markings indicate otherwise. In the illustration it doesn't show the road markings, but on the majority of roundabouts the left hand lane will have an arrow indicating left and straight ahead, and the right hand lane will have an arrow showing right and straight ahead. Unless the road markings show otherwise, then both approach lanes will be appropriate for going straight ahead.

  5. If its a four exit roundabout and you are going straight on (2ndExit) you should be in the left lane if there are two lanes.

Not necessarily. .....This only applies if the road makings indicate that the righthand lane is for turning right only....

  6. I'm that old that I remember seeing the Vulcan and the EE Lightning at Biggin Hill airshows, when they were still on active duty......Both were bl**dy loud!..... 8-)

And, if you're interested in a bike night culminating in a Lancaster taxi run.......https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/events/Special-Events/lincolnshire-bike-night.htm

Yep, used to be helmet, leather gloves, donkey jacket, jeans & Doc’s.

I actually had a Belstaff jacket......before they were trendy!.....   Then went upmarket and bought a rockers style leather jacket.......jeans and cowboy boots......but have always had full face lids.....

  8. Taramaslata is usually pink and made of fish eggs

Hummus is beige and made of chickpeas.

Exactly what I said......hummus is nice.....taramasalata is the work of the devil and should only be fed to cats......

  10. Frustrating, mate.......I'd text him and lay it on the line, but in a tactful kinda way......"Hi mate, just want to confirm if you still want the bike. If you've had a change of heart that's OK, but please let me know, as I need to sell it and I'll need to readvertise it ASAP. Many thanks.....etc"
