Ah thats interesting, might have to get one next oil change then (if i hace cash about...)
-
It dose seem like another defence and i might consider getting one if i change my plug. having sediment dose show that the product is working but i was trying to say is if you dident have the plug wouldn't the sediment just get filtered out, the plug might of got some of the sediment before it had the chance to go through the filter. I hope that makes sense as im not sure its clear enough I guess it is at least allowing your filter to be kept a bit more clear and a sign of how the engin is waring.

I wonder if these would make any difference, it might catch small amounts of metal shavings but surly the oil filter would catch them anyway if you didn't have one?

That place is pretty awesome altho never been down there ok the bike yet...

Cheers guys, oil is now changed and been on a nice ride Bike seems to be abit more happy now Still the cct to go and i will have one happy bike i toped the oil after running the bike before i left and when i got back the oil level was slightly over max... I think it might just be thermal expansion but will check tomorrow. If it is slightly over the max level is it ok to leave it or do i need to remove some oil somehow? Thanks
-
think i might just pop it back on then. If it dose leak i can aways drain it into a clean container then go get a new plug and put it back in
-
Just drained the oil from my bike (honda cbr600f 02) it needed to be done, the oil was very black. The problem if any i expected was the oil filter being stuck but that was fine. The problem was the cowboy who last put the oil drain plug back on, they didn't use a standard washer but instead it looks like they drilled a hold in another washer and forced it on, now i cant get the old washer off... The old washer held the last load of oil in the bike perfectly fine but im not sure if i should go get a new drain plug and use the standard washer? Or should i just use the old drain plug and the home made washer? Or should i get my dremel and try and hack the washer of without damaging the threads? Left the bike slowly dripping in the garage and would like to sort it out asap Thanks

Cool cheers for the reply, looked at them guides before and there good . Have them saved for when i do the job myself Im just trying to decide to go auto or manuel and if there is a good way to accurately setup the tension. Maybe by exposing the cam chain and adjusting it to a certain position that can be easily measured. Still not sure but a auto one will sure be less effort just dont want it to go again... the bike only has 6k miles on the clock (but is 10years old)
-
Im looking way to much into this stuff now and asking to meny questions... But what do you guys think of getting a manuel cam chain tensioner instead of the OEM honda cct for my honda cbr600f? I cant decide what would be better, the advantage of a manuel one will it not braking down the line but harder to setup... Any one have any experience with the manuel cct's? And is there a good way to setup the correct tension on the cam chain using them? Cheers
-
hmmm i think i will just stick with the OEM ones for now then lol
-
Ah cheers for the reply. I think I will ether give it a good look into or just go for the stock air filter then.
-
Ah its a injected CBR600F (02), i guess if i do some reading and find out if the bike runs lean or rich i can decide if it will have negative effects (ie if it runs rich it should be ok to fit the K&N) Or just not bother and get a OEM filter...
-
I have been looking at the K&N air filters and was wondering if it would make the bike run to lean as i wouldn't be able to afford/see the point in remapping my bike just yet. the K&N air filters seem like a good investment as you can clean and reuse them, a OEM air filter seems to be about half the price as the K&N one, so after 2 changes your pockets in

Ah, thats good to hear stu, dosent seem to bad to change the brake fluid then. Looked over the haynes manuel now and dosent seem to hard to do the services besides the valve clearance check/ adjustment. The check dosent seem to bad... the adjustment is quite bad tho... Requires quite abit of tools i dont have tho, low torque torque wrench, something to measure the clearances and if adjustment is required a micrometer (altho they are useful to have anyway) Im guessing not doing the coolant wont have any detrimental effect on corrosion exc, just wait to summer and if temps are ok leave it. Thanks
-
Ok i think ill try and do as much as i can then . All the fluid changes seem easy enough. Will be having a read up abit later tonight about the other checks And TC seen one of them kits seems good. I have seen people on other forums change the fluid by insted of draining it, letting the level drop down in the reservoir then topping up with new fluid and doing this 3-4 times instead of draining the lot. The aim was to avoid having to bleed out lots of air. If you want to look ill pm u the link. Thanks for all the help guys

I have decided im going to do as much of the servicing myself as i can, I have already got myself a haynes manuel. Got a load of tools for xmas so should have most things needed. I was just wondering if things like the brake fluid needs changing and things like checking/adjusting valve clearances need to be done Also dose anyone have any recommended/preferred shops to get the suplies of ? Thanks

Hey, I am going to do some maintenance and service my bike, i am just wondering what i will need to do and what is ok to leave. As the maintenance schedule is done on both miles and years from it i think my bike needs the lot doing... Here is the service history before i got it: Its a 2002 honda CBR600F (injection model) First 500 mile service - 07/02: actual mileage:601 4000 mile service - 06/05: actual mileage: 3260 8000 mile service - 06/09: actual mileage 3795 And that its. I got the bike late september in 2011 with 3800 miles on the clock It is now on 6050 miles. What i know needs changing is the oil and oil filter what is easy enough. Im thinking i might as well do the air filter Will pull a spark plug out and see if its ok but I think they should be fine. But as the bike has only has never has its 2year/12k mile service and the last service was over 2 years ago it means officially i need to: change spark plugs lubricate throttle and choke cables changing the coolant change the brake fluid And lots of adjusting/ checking scheduled... Dont know if its best to try and do the lot or leave it or go to the dealer to get the 24,000mile (2year) service the bike is due for? Just wanted to know what you guys think needs doing and what is fine to leave. Thanks

It can be Pub, inn, tavern, Hotel etc Your bike has to be in the shot with your number (unless its a BSB circuit) Its in the rules. Thats why its called a challenge Hotels aswell? That makes it a bit easier, as there is a pub on the list literally oposite a hotel on the list! Extra points for having both in view at the same time? Looks like I may have to park in the middle of a busy road then... Cant imagine that will go down too well, but i will have to make sure to do it the day before I sell the YBR so if I do get a ticket it can be sent to the new owner Go at 4am, sure it wont be to bad then...
-
Ah cheers, will be doing a oil change soon then
-
Dosent sound to bad to me . Im thinking of doing the oil, filters and sparks as well. Its only got 5k on the clock and had its services but 5K since 2002 so im thinking it wont hurt to refresh at least the oil and filters. Might as well do a service while the tank is off

Here is my bike and sorry its a phone pic , my camera was at uni at the time >< A 02 CBR600F Love the thing, most suppressing thing i found is how easy/controllable the power is when u want it to be and hot nuts it is at top revs The bike
