  1. where is the "no" option?
  2. i just bought on ebay the official dvd, it did not cost much as it was second hand, around £5 + delivery
  3. does the bike start at all?
  4. indeed, sorry, forgot about it
  5. there is not much difference for you as far as i understand with the new law. so get your 125, try it out and then you can make a decision
  6. as far as i understand the only potential change for you might be the cost. So it's up to you. I'd suggest having the test this year as you still need time to find a bike for you summer riding.
  7. but you still have to buy the DAS course from a provider, have not you? i was not able to find a provider who agreed just to take me to the test centre on a big bike
  8. well, this is the only way to pass the DAS test - find an instructor. they usually sell 4-5 day courses. so i don't quite understand the question... sorry
  9. i also ride with my visor one position up only. Rain does not affect my vision much as i mostly ride in the city low-medium speed
  10. i think it is time to post my review of this bike. i originally posted it on cruiserforum.co.uk (is it ok to advice on the original source?) http://www.cruiserforum.co.uk/pics/intruder800.jpg I am riding my Intruder for seven months so far and i think it is a good time to share the first impression on the subject. Look and feel For me the look of the bike is probably the most important thing and this bikes looks great indeed. My model has a classic headlight which is great. Later models have a modern-style headlight and i personally think it does not look good any more. So i have two guns, lots of chrome and this is what i am up to. However there a lot of plastic details including chromed plastic but as long as it looks great i don't care much though i now some say that a proper cruiser should not have plastic at all. I did not realise before how comfortable the foot boards are. Probably for me it becomes now on of the most important things on bikes The seat is comfortable (does any one know a cruiser with an uncomfortable seat?) However the handling bars seem to be too low for me and unfortunately i don't find them very comfortable. But i am not yet sure if this is something that can be easily adjusted. Again, it is ok for every day riding but it should be better. Engine I often hear people saying that a motorbike with less than 1000cc is not a cruiser. Well, yes and no. Riding my Intruder for half a year i can now say that extra cc and power won't harm it but i can confirm that having 800cc is absolutely ok for me. i am mostly riding in the city so for me the main point is having enough torque on low rpm. And it has enough, though again having more would not harm. But i think i understand those who say that for cruising at long distances they need more cc. one thing that confuses me is that i get around 100miles on 10 litres of regular petrol which is a bit disappointing. But again, i ride mostly in the city. Would be interesting to hear from others on their figures. Brakes My Intruder has a rear drum brake and a disk one on the front. I personally think that having a drum brake on the rear is ok but i suspect one has to adjust it quite often. I have already had to do this (£20 or £25 at a local garage, can't remember exactly). The front brake is OK, however in order to brake hard you have to apply a bit power to the lever. This is absolutely unacceptable on sports bike and for those who love hard braking and hard accelerating. But this bike is not about it, is it? It is all about easy and relaxing riding for me. Reliability I am the second owner and have done nothing to it apart from adjusting the rear brake. So not sure i can a lot on reliability at the moment http://www.cruiserforum.co.uk/pics/intruder800_2.jpg Overall i think it is a very good bike, though there things that i would prefer to be improved
  11. yeah, it's a good idea to rap smth around

    Idle Death

so are you saying it stalls if not in motion? does is stall on neutral gear? does is stall having a gear in but clutch pulled? Does it ride normally?

    Brake shudder

well that's a reasonable suggestion but on the other hand the new pads might just hide the main issue with disks. But anyway, its worth trying. However i personally would ignore the issue if the vibration is not too horrible

    Brake shudder

well, i'd go for new disks in this case. But you say it is not that bad, so i think they can live on your bike for some time. Obviously depends on how often you have to brake on high speeds
  15. what actually happens? is it attempting to start at all? do your hear anything?
  16. priest

    Brake shudder

are you absolutely sure this was not the case before? How many miles have you done with the new pads? i am thinking that if the pads are new, give them some time (miles) to work with your discs. if you still see the change in behaviour than yeah, disks are the first suspects. Obviously if the road surface has not regressed significantly. i assume tyre pressure is ok
  17. you should get a second attempt, i think from what i read that doesnt apply if you already did the emergency stop too slow. i agree
  18. i'd personally would not indicate as others say the riders/drivers behind me understand my intentions
  19. when i was thinking of DAS, every course cost a fortune. on the direct.gov.uk there is a list of instructors http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Le ... DG_4022528
  20. i spent a lot of time practising on a 125 myself. i suggest one-day practice with an instructor, then practise yourself based on knowledge he transfers to you
  21. no, you can't ride alone anything bigger than 125. you can practise only with an instructor on something bigger
  22. +1
