  1. Was a nice sunny day, few clouds scattered around but no wind! Pulled out of the test centre straight onto a country lane which despite being on a test was simply amazing! Tootled through a small village then straight back onto a country road. Then onto a dual carriage way which seemed to be hosting the farmers rally, pulled off several safe overtaking manouvers before turning down another country road where the self directed riding started. Head to the town centre!!! Headed down some 20mph roads and a few roundabouts and eventually back to the test center! Still sceptical as to whether one incident involving a speeding elderly lady had cost me I was a little down beat, however the examiner asked if I wanted my instructor present which I thought was game over! PASS!! couldn't believe it, examiner was a top bloke too!!!
  2. Cheers all, all responses appreciated! Had a debrief from the old man to watch out for BMW and Volvo drivers ha. Cbr is my preferred option but bandits seem to get a lot for your money
  3. GET IN!!!!! 3 MINORS BUT PASSED, thanks to all who posted advice etc! Was a great help!!! Looking for cbr600 now or bandit
  4. Rebooked as soon as I got back!!! 2 weeks to wait! Cannot wait to get on the road! Cheers all
  5. Ahhh I couldn't believe it. One fault going to close to a high curb when pulling onto a 60mph road! Was absolutely gutted and can't get it out of my head! Never done it before!!!
  6. Thats cleared alot up, cheers! so at a junction/lights mirror(s), signal, stop, right left right, if clear a look over both shoulders and pull away. cancel indicator, mirrors and life saver then accelerate
  7. 'noon all! I have got my MOD2 coming up in just over a weeks time and i have been visulaising certain procedures to drill them in mentally, however there are 2 areas that are a little grey when i read what others have posted, these are junction/traffic lights and round abouts (both observatrion issues) A junctions i would... Mirror, signal and reduce speed and stop (minor to major) right left right, pull out cancel indicator, Mirrors, rear glance and accelerate Roundabouts, MSM and lifesaver (if lane positions requires changing) ,left or straight on i would Mirror, indicate and a right hand life saver upone changing road position. right hand turn a left hand lifesaver. The bit i am unsure of is when leaving the junction or traffic lights do i need to make and life savers or rearward glances? Many thanks Gaz
  8. Had my MOD1 yesterday afternoon and passed first time! Had a lesson on saturday and was doing okay apart from the U-turn...every so often i went a bit slow and put my foot down. slalom, figure of 8 and stop in the box were fine...the speed ones i kept hitting 48-49...which is pass but a minor! Anyway the test date arrived and it started to rain....got on the bike and had a great ride out to the test centre! pulled up on an industrial estate before to practise the u-turns! put my foot down on all but 1 out of 5 attempts arrived at test centre slighlty more nervous than i had been prior to the u-turn practise. did all manouvers fine even the u-turn was the best i had done. Hit 54kph for both speed tests and passed without any minors...Mod2 booked! half way there!!
  9. Hi all, Has anyone ever bought jacket with brand "bulletproof"? if so are they any good! Passed CBT and Theory and onto lessons on 500 now so looking for some gear! Cheers
  10. Yeah i was thinking of doing the training with the same instructors as the CBT, Been driving since i was 17 and (touch wood) never had an accident of a penalty, mainly becasue i was driving the parents car and never into the boy racer scene ha. Did the instructors advise you on whther they thought you were capable?
  11. Afternoon All! I know what i am bout to ask is a very vague question but anyones expereince would be great! I am 23, finished uni and now employed and relocated and just managed to get to point where i actually have some cash for myself...i thought ill put my money where my mouth is and finally get a bike licence!!! I would like to know how many lesson people required before they actually managed to get their licence. I have passed the CBT ad theory and looking at MOD1 and MOD2, both offer a days training in each MOD which is 4 x 2.5hour lessons, there are additional half days lessons available. I have not motorbike experience (other than CBT) what so ever so just looking for ball park figures (hours wise) Cheers
