  1. Just wondering if anyone can reccommend a good one? The one I have always used seems really expensive, but Im nervous about trusting the comparrison sites as they are vague with what you actually pay. Cheers

    University

I know its awkward with funding and all, but if I were in your position I would change to a teaching degree because at least you wont have to suffer the PGCE year. If your degree is getting to you now then you will find the pgce impossible. Its the sheer amount of paperwork - equal to 3rd year plus working as a teacher! you can barely do it! I did it after getting a 1st and then having a 1yr old to look after but it almost ruined my life lol... Theres so many teachers now looking for work, you will find it difficult if you dont have the perfect degree background for the job, so unless you want to teach psychology at secondary/a level you might be better of changing now before you are too far in. Where I live the uni chucks out 15+ teachers a year in my subject and maybe 3 jobs have come up within 50mile radius in this last year so its pretty grim Good Luck with everything
  3. Well if you know all about ruined lives and suicide then why encourage such ridiculous solutions to the lads problem. It obvious that he can just end the relationship without all the drama. Unless he just wants something to post on here Relationships are essential to maturity as you grow from the experience, I know I wouldnt want to start with all that crap at 30!
  4. Good God! Are you sure you only 'work' in a drag bar? As a woman I find that reply disgusting. Men are tight enough when it comes to splitting up with all the usual selfish reasons. No one needs to be encouraged to kill themselves!! Its a joke right???

    Young Bikers?

I would reckon you are more likely to come off worse being the pillion than the rider. I know Id rather be under my own bike than under a HGV or car 30ft down the road.

  7. Try getting a job in a YHA hostel, they seem like good temp jobs and if you get a nice location you can enjoy the area too on your days off.

Well there is the sad state of this society, I cant have the same rewards because I am married and qualify for no benefits working part time or not. So my kids live on a lot less than they should because we have to work it out on one wage as both working makes us worse off by miles - no time with the kids and no money. You are not encouraged to be a nuclear family whether on benefits or not in this country. Is this why there are so many people having to have 2-3 bed houses each for when the kids stay part of the week. Maybe there wouldnt be a housing shortage either if there were more benefits to staying together. Any relationship is hard at times, but its not made easier by financial pressures and knowing your better off financially alone.

Thats not true though is it. I could not get a minimum wage job earning £12,668k and then put my kid in nursery - £7450 and other kid in before and after school club £2730 + holiday club £1300 and make that worthwhile. £11480 paid out after tax is eyewatering and thats before travel etc. Its bad enough if you earn £30k, and although its possible there are very few jobs here that pay that. The thing is school dinners add up too, and all these things make it a real hard transistion for those in the trap. We are better off on one wage but who would have thought it. Do I get a job to pay it all away just to feel proud to be working!! As if lol I know if I was a single parent I probably would get heaps of support in the form of tax breaks, but certain folk are literally priced out of employment. We are the invisible ones as we dont sign on but what a waste of the workforce!
  10. You aint wrong, my neighbours are 80 and 82 and they have a loads of fun to the point where Im envious!
  11. Ive never felt better than when I had a full on physical job. I was moving all day for 9 hrs and was lifting 25kgs upwards all the time never mind all this h&s stuff. After a more office type job I feel far worse for wear, especially as I can find no time to fit in the same sort of excercise as I need to feel fit as a fiddle. Used to love nothing more than to cycle to work, but all the women just look down their nose at you if you do that......fashion is the worst thing in the world imo, if it wasnt for that my life would be miles easier. As for pull ups, well never done more than 15 lol but could easily do 60 press ups hahaha
  12. Id love a free bus pass Everything is so far away here that the cheapest fare is always more than a daysaver so its £6 no matter what!

Yep thats the thing that gripes me the most, growing up with a mum stuck on benefits due to disability made me determined not to be in the same boat. But now after years of hard work and a 'good' job its still crazy that you cant earn enough to cover the costs in this country. Im not in the benefits trap as I dont get any benefits, but I am in the 'stuck at home with kids' trap as I can hardly earn enough to pay for all the childcare and travel to get to work which is about 15kpa! and after paying out tax, student loans etc etc it just didnt make it worthwhile. Its no wonder so many women have left work recently to stay at home, you are better off on one wage really
  14. I look back fondly to the days when I could commute on my bike all year round. Did it for about 3 yrs as welding was a dirty job so it didnt matter if you came in p*ss wet through, you just let the water evaporate Now I dont think I would bother as its just too much grief to get changed, and I used to get there no quicker by the time I took all the gear off. If you get wet in the crotch lol well its just not worth the p*ss taking is it

I think its so hard to escape the benefits trap in this country its no wonder that there are so many stuck within it. Not only that but the worse part about it is that once you do start working, unless you can get decent pay you are always going to feel like its only just worth it. Because the cost of renting is so high, and everything that was once payed for in benefits is now your responsibility. Unless people have the drive to become 'something' or they have pride, why would they bother. The benefits system has made this rod for its own back. It should have always kept rent rates the same as that of council housing and no more. and not sold off all the council housing stock. People would be able to use that as a springboard to get into better situations rather than be at the mercy of high rents and the trap of never being able to save deposits etc. Surely no one here is happy that there are landlords of mansions in London being paid £££££s in rent for people on benefits! Where are the council houses for these people! When I was a kid, it was a driving force to grow up and work hard to live in a nice house in a good place and look after my own family. Thats a basic ideal I think..But if you can do that by squirting them out and getting it all for free now then who wouldnt?
  16. Eh TC come on now, thats you innit

    Young Bikers?

Haha its ok Bex I will be young again soon when I dont have a 2yr old pecking my head 24/7 In fact judging by the folks I know on here as soon as kids grow up and p*ss off you just get younger
  18. Ive got drenched yes, riding back with over 100 miles to go to pick up the kids from nursery in torrential rain. It was so heavy that every other biker I saw was hiding under bridges and when I was going through flooded roads with water up to my ankles I had just about given up! At £10 for every 5mins late I thought its tough! just had to get wet

Remember that the landlords are to blame as when I was first renting things were affordable but as the dole started to dish out stupid money, the private landlords just put the rents up to ridiculous amounts so I thought feck that and sold everything I had to get a deposit and buy a house. I looked into what you could ask as a landlord recently for a woman and her 5 kids and it was something like £170 a week! If the landlord knows thats what they are entitled to then why would you charge less? They need to cap it as there will never be the incentive to work if you cant earn more than a dole dweller.

    Young Bikers?

Ive had bikes since I was 17 and I suppose there wasnt many other girls around at all. I felt that it was the crap choice we had and it took me ages to find a decent bike after my 125's as I only have little legs Im 33 now so not young anymore lol but still I will be out and about in North Wales with hubby so might see you around
  22. I always thought that I would rather do any job than be on the dole but its not that simple for me anyway nowadays. Years back when I was a welder I could put my kid in nursery and still bring home about half my pay. Now I cant possibly do that job as I would do the same eg 1 kid in nursery and come away with £4 a week so who in their right mind would work 39hrs for £4. I dont know how the cost of childcare and diesel has managed to overtake wages so fast in the last 10 years but its a good job I dont weld for a living now otherwise I would be unable to work and have no way out.
  23. an indoor toilet in a proper bathroom that will make 2012 for me
