  1. I am guessing no matter what my insurance is going to be high anyway because of my age, the fact I don't have my CBT yet, I'm not a homeowner and I have to say the bike will be kept on the road even though it will be in my back garden where the only access is through a door between the 2 houses which gets locked from the inside and then a locked gate leading into my garden. After the first year will the insurance price come down?
  2. What I plan on doing is keeping this bike for a while. Say a year - over a year and getting experience. Then I will sell the bike on cause during that time ill have saved enough money for a bigger bike. I will still be completing the DAS before the end of the year but I won't be jumping to a bigger bike without having pretty good road experience first. I am doing it this way because I would really struggle to get the money together to do it all and then buy a bigger bike. Looking at insurance it could end up costing around 800-900+ It would end up costing me more to insure a 600cc on a new liscence.
  3. That's perfect thank you. Now the biggest question I would like to know is... Is it worth it? Woould I regain the money when selling it again? Will it be a a struggle to handle? And like the replica bikes will this have high insurance for what it is? Thanks, much appreciated.
  4. On Sunday I hit a stroke of luck and won £1,125. Now my mum already has £600 waiting. I was wondering what people thought about this http://users.autoexposure.co.uk/vehicle ... 872_1a.jpg. I saw this on Autottrader bikes. Now even if I bought this, I can easily arange transport to pick this up. I can still have enough money for the CBT sometime this month (although holidays looks pretty booked up), I will still learn on the company's bike but I'd just have a bike for when I pass. What do people think? I've not looked at the insurance for it just yet but I would see about paying that monthly. All advice welcome. Few things about what it says though I don't get. What does it mean by data tracked and the 2 keys bit and also what does hpi stand for? Cheers.
  5. No offence, I understand what you're saying. But I never forced you to read this thread, you didn't have to waste 10 minutes. And yet people probably waste more then 10 ninutes a day doing other things or just sitting doing nothing... I can assure you I'll have the Theory booked by the end of the month. As far as I'm aware it could be weeks before I can get a place to take it anyway which gives me plenty of revision time. While waiting for that ill book a GetOn soon for next month. By the end of next month or possibly month after I will have my CBT booked and after that I may possibly try get a 125 bike. Do the DAS not so long after then sell / buy a new bike. So its mapped out.. I dont ask you to keep reading, you do out of your own free will.
  6. That would work but during the time your not on the bike, don't you feel as though you need retraining each week? Plus I am guessing without having a bike of your own would make it harder cause you are unable to practise what you've learnt?
  7. What do you mean by that? Wouldn't that just be the same as doing an intense course? I would really like to get it over and done with and also I am trying to think the best money saver in the long run / less time.
  8. Ok so I've now managed to ask the guy about the intense course and he replied with this - "Your looking at around 500-700 pounds all in including test fees, maybe little more or less depending how quick you pick things up, cheers, Jase" Now to me that doesn't sound that bad. It may possibly be the way forward for me. If I'm VERY VERY tight wirth my money (meaning don't spend a penny) I could save around 500 a month. It sounds pretty promising. In 2 months it would then give me around 1000£ at an average so that should possibly cover me for the entire course? This is not going to happen though as I can't save money... Eitherway until I have found a good way to tackle this I'm going to arange a GetOn so I can go have a play around on a bike and train for my Theory. Really don't see where any of this money is coming from . EDIT: furthurmore just had a breif chat with him. He says if i want to have it cost the least amount of money/time then I should aim to get everything complete within 2 weeks of starting. You'll pay for the course for the actual lesson you have that day. So a possibility would be at the end of next month as ill get paid at the end of the month. Providing I have managed to save about 500 from the wage.
  9. So over the course of last night, in bewteen playing BF3 I have come to a few conclusions. 1. I want a bike and I'd die trying 2. It will cost a hell of a lot of money 3. I have doutbs I will always fail as my dream, cause they are what they are right? Dream.. That aside I have searched lots and read closely regarding bikes. The last option I found was Lexmoto but I've read they are pretty much crap. Now there are 2 roads I can see for me. The new plan overtakes the old plan by a bit. 1. Complete the full package and then buy a 600cc on finance. Doing this will provide me lots of trainings, as long as it takes and in the long run could get me riding sooner and being more myself. 2. CBT. Bike. Experience. DAS. The main flaw I've found is the price of it all. It could be easier as it goes on a few months but finding a cheap enough bike is a little tough. So far no. 1 is what I'm thinking but earlier it was mentioned someone did there full course and thoery. But how does that work? Surely you would have to do the theory before? Anyway any ideas would be good. I will phone the guy up later to find out how much it would cost for the full lot.
  10. Well this place is owned and run solely by instructors. He said there was aout 4 people working there, it's at the back of a bike shop so isn't big, just going past you wouldn't evenknow it was there. Anyhow he did say if he didn't feel I was good for the road then he asks me to go home and go back another time which wouldn't cost as it's still within the 8 hour course time. So other then the test fee's I've mentioned, what else is needed? Just training. What type of training and I guess that's the bit that's most expensive?
  11. How does it cost him so much though? As from what the guy told me, £110(CBT) + £30(Theory) + £15.50(Mod 1) + £75(Mod 2) = £230.50. A lot smaller then the £700 he payed or have I missjudged everything?
  12. wow, speedy service. How much did it all cost you and what bike / price was it? Ofcourse I want to get riding quicker but I don't want to rush it, I still want to go at my own pace. EDIT: Just spoke to the guy from the training centre. They limit each instructor to 2 students for the course so it wouldn't be too bad. On a weekday they use a big car park (Huddersfield Town FC's car park) and it will cost about £110. He said to do the CBT, get a few months road experience before tackling the D.A.S. Mod 1 will cost £15.50 and then Mod 2 will cost £75. When/if you fail to feel confident about going on the road or the instructor isn't very confident they will send you away to think about it and then return another day to continue. If it runs over the allocated hours then it will charge by the hour but cost half the price. He did reccomend that when I do pass my CBT then to get a bike for a run around in the range of 500-1000£ and I asked him what % of people pass the CBT on the first go and he said it's probably around 80%. He sounded like a nice chap and once next month comes I'm going to get my CBT done. When I pass my CBT I have no idea no where i'll find money for the bike but it will come from somewhere.
  13. Alright, well I'm going to having a chat with somebody from a training centre in town about the CBT. Still undecided if I should wait and save up or get my CBT done and just get a bike the way you have. I have a feeling if I just left it then I would end up giving up again because believe me I am terrible when it comes to saving money. So maybe the CBT, get a bike hopefully on the day and pay it back monthly, use that for a while. Work out how much I've paid and how much I've to pay off and then see about selling it then getting a bigger bike once I pass everything else? So many options it confuses me but I would much rather be riding sooner rather than later. I've waited and put this off for too long and I want to make sure it happens before all the new laws come in.
  14. What bike did you get? How much was the bike and how much was you paying the bike back over how long? I guess you took it over a year? It sounds more like something I would be able to do. I think I would rather get riding sooner rather than later. But if you do your test on a 125 then doesn't that limit you for 2 years? EDIT: If I did go down that road then I could still do my test on the 125 before it all changes couldn't I? Or do it on their bike (if it limits me on a 125) and then sell on the 125 and buy a bigger bike?
  15. Nah I choose to walk. Could buss it but other than snowboarding, it's the only excercise I get So going by that would it be better to not do my CBT yet and rather just save up enough money to buy a bike? Cause I guess if you passed your CBT and then haved to wait months before you can get a bike then you could have forgot a good bit of what you learned? Nell, so have any examples to what maybe you would reccomend?
  16. lol, its my choice to walk. I like the exercisee, plus its give me time to observe traffic. How much could you get a 125cc for now? I guess you mean, get it second hand? How much are CBT's? Well doing it that way does give me the required learning time before the DAS. Although one worry I have would be the limitation to 30Mph(I think?). The road i live on is pretty long and a large amount of the road has a speed limit of 40, not 30. But would that be an issue do you think? Also just a note, I know this is majorly NOT important but the bikes I'm intrested in is sportsbikes (full body). Would doing the CBT and ride for a bit help me with the Theory test?
  17. Ok I sort of gave up this, I don't remember what happened but stuff happened and I just couldn't get any of it done. On the other hand I'm back and I'm going to this time make it happen. Normally I say ill do things, buy a few things for it then give up. But I know am properly learning how to snowboard and its one of them things I just won't give up on. I deeply miss not doing all this the first time around so I want to give it a second go, I walk to work everyday (around 1hr 10 mins each way) and I see bikers go past me often, the more they pass me the more I can't take my eyes away from them. Yet if I see a big expensive car drive past I don't even give it a second look in. I fear now I may have left it too late. I know laws are changing but I don't know when? I am 22 in September so would be waiting 2 years before even being considered for the DAS UNLESS its still possible to compplete it this year. If its still a possibility I want to complete my practical/theory and then find a DAS course which inccludes the CBT apart of it. Then ill try get a bike out from a store on 0% intrest so I can make it affordable. I've no idea if any or what rules have currently changed so any person able to fill me in would be great. I know back then I never felt good for the road but I've grown older and feel more confident with myself and I now feel like I'm ready to take on the roads.
  18. I asume this is almost finished then How do I get to join?
  19. Its not that I don't feel confident as I feel more than capable even though I've nevre even sat on a bike! Its just when you have L plates traffic seems more weary about what your going to do. But still, gotta try it before I can rule it out. Plus I've waited for this time for years.
  20. You might want to check the legalities of displaying L Plates when you have a full licence, I'm pretty sure its an offence to display them if you hold a full licence for the vehicle that you are driving/riding. The exception to this rule being driving instructors. I think this is where the displaying of P plates for new drivers came from (not sure if this is an option on a bike). Oh right Well then just have to try my best to blend in then But they should really make it an option for people who have just passed there DAS.
  21. I vote no for the simple fact I am going down the DAS route and wouldn't want to be restricted. I do think maybe though that we should at least have to use L plates for the first few months or so just so every other road user know you might not be as expereinced as others and are prone to mistakes. Well I plan on using L plates after my DAS for a few months.
  22. Haha me! But its not the case of being poor. I just haven't passed my tests
  23. Well if any of the Metalheads are into Thrash! then listen to Evile! Anyhow at the moment I've had the Five Serpent Teeth by Evile on all day today. Love it
  24. Yea he's done a great job with bringing things to everyday life. I couldn't live without my iPod and I wouldn't even have thought about any tablet until I got an iPad. R.I.P
  25. Well yesterday I went to Earnshaws instead. Spent £310 on a Jacket, Boots and Gloves. Will get the rest next month once I've been paid again. In the meantime it will give me time to practice for my Theory. These are what I bought. I went down the waterproof route (but the gloves arn't waterproof).. http://www.earnshaws.net/proddetail.php?prod=TCXSS http://www.earnshaws.net/proddetail.php?prod=FTW350BP http://www.earnshaws.net/proddetail.php?prod=1815587691
