  1. Carbs cleaned and back on today so i could test it. One slider was sticking, found nothing wrong but it's fine now. Ran perfectly fine. Lots of smoke from headers but they did have oil on them and are pretty rusty. I did notice one pipe seemed to get hotter than the others. Time to strip it down and see the extent of the corrosion to the front of the bike. Headers are going to be interesting to remove.
  2. Yes that's exactly the pipes. Head off apparently to fit them. Mine are badly corroded. I need to get a proper look so I think I'm going to have to remove the oil cooler which means dropping all that new oil I just put in.
  3. I never gave that a thought to be honest. I wouldn't even know if you could transfer everything over. Engine cradle on the way now. The more I look the more I find with this bike. I seem to have a very slight oil leak from around the oil filter or above. I'm finding oil on the collector box. It's not coming from the filter but I do suspect the oil outlet pipes, s shaped pipes on the front of the engine. If it is them then I'll need to remove the head to replace them. I thought they would be rubber but they look to be covered in rust. Need to remove the oil cooler to get to them.
  4. just bought an engine cradle. Couldn't find a decent one over here so I have one coming from the states. Just need to find an speed sensor rotor. Again only seem to find these abroad.
  5. you may need to rephrase that but I get what you mean.
  6. Yes mate the project is back on. I started to strip the carbs today as one of the sliders is sticking. Can't see anything wrong by as they are off I'll strip and clean them.
  7. You no weldy weldy? No I have never welded but to get a cradle, in much better condition than mine, I'm only looking at £50.
  8. It is. I thought it was game over but I just found that that is part of the engine cradle which I can buy as it's only part of the frame
  9. Sadly this project is coming to an end. Whilst attempting to remove the headers I noticed part of the frame behind the headers is rotten. Unless someone can tell me different, I'd say it's unsafe.
  10. I'm a little puzzled so maybe someone can help. Looking at the carbs today I noticed there are three pipes, short ones with screws in coming from the back of the carbs, engine side not airbox side.
  11. Slowly getting the garage sorted. Bike lift assembled, workbench ordered.
  12. I havea GSX600F mostof the parts are the same as the 750. Obviously some engine parts are different, Paintwork schemes are different, less decals on the 750 and different colours. The handlebar mounts are also different, the 750 has its bars set about 30mm higher, it has an extra part on top of the top yoke and the top yoke may be different. 2003 models and newer have a restyled tail and light unit, looks a lot better then the earlier "teapot" design. Cheers for the info, much appreciated. I was recently looking at a rear light on eBay for my model but it was an LED unit. Long while before I get to that point but the good to window shop
  13. CMS is the site I use to view exploded diagrams but I don't think they are going to be cheaper than anywhere else to be honest. Regarding inter changeability I guess it's a case of one peice at a time again . What bits did you have in mind ? For generic parts I often use Wemoto or just see what's on eBay . I'll have a look at CMS, cheers. I forgot all about wemoto, I used to get a lot of parts from them. To be honest I was just getting a few prices for the brake rebuilds. It's the only part I have messed with and that was only because I had to remove the calipers due to them binding. I'm hoping to get a bit of time to sit and write a list of what to start with first. It's so easy to hop from one job to another. I want to get it fired up so I know the engine is good so I'm going to need to drop the oil and filter, new plugs, need a battery and need to strip the carbs. Once I have done that and heard it running I can then start with restoring it.
  14. Where is the best place to buy parts? Been looking on motorcycle spare parts but seem a bit pricey. Diagrams on there are great though, anyone know where I can download exploded diagrams like that? Also what other model Suzuki's have parts that will fit the gsxf 750?
  15. I just bought this one. Bought from demon tweeks but I'd never buy from them again, terrible customer service. It's currently still in its crate in my garage just waiting for me to sort the garage out.
  16. Thank you. I'd never even seen one before so it was an impulse buy. Turned out to be a very nice bike. Just ordered a biketek bench/lift. Getting too old to be kneeling on the floor it will make doing this so much easier.
  17. I bought my Honda bros in bits, over two years before I got that near to finish. That said. I was maybe a bit too fussy with that as I replaced most of the bolts to nice shiny ones.
  18. Ha ha, that's exactly right. I do want to do it all at once. I'll get there with it. Like I said, first thing is to clean it up and see what's under the grime.
  19. Well here it is. Thank I have my work cut out. Im okay when i buy a box of bits as I know where to start. I'm struggling to decide where to start at the moment. As yo can see it needs a good clean so I can see the extent of corrosion etc. I think I'll get a good degreaser and clean it up. The engine is oxidised so that's going to take some cleaning. The forks are done for due to rust. It needs a battery, oil dropping. Carbs cleaning etc before I can see if it starts. On the plus side, all plastics, tank and all removable metal parts were removed and painted so these are all good.. Headers need a good clean up but exhaust looks in dirty but good condition. It needs new brake pipes. Calipers need stripping etc etc etc. Lol, I must be mad
  20. Cheers. I'll look into that. Not sure how bad they are but as it was mentioned in the ad, they must be pretty bad. They can do anything . They will hard chrome to slightly over size and then machine back to a beautiful finish . They can also do a rebuild and re seal . I had my first GSXR,s forks done and it was money well spent. ( Not my last one , the one before ) Sounds good. I'll make some enquiries once I have the bike. What price are you looking at to have the forks done?
  21. Cheers. I'll look into that. Not sure how bad they are but as it was mentioned in the ad, they must be pretty bad.
  22. I think standard to be honest. I do like the style so I'll get it all up and running and see where the build takes me. As for parts, they are still quite expensive compared to parts for my other builds. Thank you
  23. Yes definitely worth a go for the price. It's been in a garage for two years. So far I know it needs forks as the current are pitted with rust quite a bit. It needs the brakes stripping which is something I'd do anyway and new chain and sprockets. The engine is showing signs of oxidisation so needs a good clean. Apart from that I'm not sure what else until I get it. First thing I want to do is change the oil and filter so I can see if it runs okay before I start to spend on it. To be honest I didn't plan to get another project. Not because I didn't want one but running my business is seven days a week so I don't get a lot of free time. Needless to say, this may well be a slow project. I'm sure something will take your fancy in the near future as a next project. As for regrets selling them off, I'm the same and not planning to sell anymore after putting in all the hard work.
  24. Thank you. I know exactly what you mean. I chose the bros as a project due to the fact you could see all your hard work. The Suzuki, never owned one but I do quite like the look of it and £260 it has to be worth a tinker with
