I won't be doing that, she will need it for nav, not all teenagers are feckless idiots and it's a shame you felt the need to judge my daughter before you have even met her. I can see this thread was a mistake.

To be honest it is a thoroughly pleasant thing to ride around on. We had done 600 miles on it together and it copes two up very well. I have been taking her over to a disused airfield so she could practice on it 26 miles from where we live. Obviously not fast but cheap as chips to run and practical transport. If I worked closer I wouldn't mind commuting on one. We still have 12 months of the factory warranty left as well.

Just been getting my youngest daughter’s bike ready for her 17 birthday tomorrow. L Plates, phone charger and mount plus all the regular checks. Ready to rumble. I’m going with her for a few hours just to get her confidence up, her request. I have been told I have to take my CBF as it matches her bikes colour
  4. I do most of my own servicing, although I did have my Hornets first yearly service done at the dealer. I know you can do it yourself with genuine parts and keep the warranty up but for me it was just easier to let them do the first one plus that stamp in the book will help if I want to trade it in.
  5. One thing I would say Josh is that modding can cause you no end of problems from insurance to decreased performance and reliability issues. I am sure you could make some improvements with care but make sure it is all reversible because a modded bike will often have a lower value to a standard bike. Depending on the mods of course. Avoid bolting a load of Temu/AliExpress tat to your bike. My daughter has a CB125F 23 plate and the only mods she has are a set of SW Motech crash bars and a professionally lowered seat. I have got a standard seat in the shed for when she comes to sell or trade it in. She is making noises about wanting some heated grips which I will fit for her. My daughters bike has a LED headlight as standard which to be fair is pretty good and much better than many of the bikes I have had in the past.
  6. Tis functional though
  7. Bit parky riding home this morning.
  8. Yeah they are going to mug me for £117 next month
  9. Yep that's £2.89 I will never see again I don't mind that much another 10 fasteners to ad to my obsessive SS collection.
  10. No I gotta do my good bike this afternoon
  11. Gave my commuter a good going over today, maintenance and cleaning. Quite pleased with the way it scrubs up for 17 years old and 34k miles. Has a few war wounds from service but still going strong. Plenty good enough for a winter hack.
  12. Yep they were the wrong size. . Should be M4 8mm not M5 12mm.
  13. Bottled it, My Mrs was on FB and saw a load of flooded roads on my commuting route and went into worry overload so I took the car to keep the peace.
  14. Oh I do hope it stops before I have to go to work tonight
  15. I haven't had the best of experiences with local dealers either over the phone or in person, especially the Triumph one, which is a shame as I was quite interested in getting one at the time. I had three bikes in mind, Trident 660, Kawasaki Z650RS and Honda CB750 Hornet. Triumph Dealer, I will never go there again, Kawasaki Dealer good as gold even though I didn't buy the bike and Honda Dealer again good as gold. I must say that I really like my local BMW dealer. Really friendly and helpful when I took my ancient E46 in for a recall. Even offered me a test ride on a R9T (bear in mind I was a scruff in a 22 year old car), shame I never had my gear with me. He was keen for me to come back for a test ride but I didn't feel right doing it as I had no intention of buying one. I didn't want to take out HP to buy and I never had the cash budget for a R9T. Local Indian, Benelli, BSA Dealer is an idiot, not that he had anything I really wanted. Local HD franchise is the same people as the Triumph dealer.
  16. Do you reckon it was because Chat GPT was using the US gallon? Like everything on the net it does seem to default to is origins.
  17. I'll find out when they get here on Tuesday.
  18. Thanks for that, inspired me to actually sort out some replacement screws for my Honda CBF's master cylinder as one is chewed right up. Meant to do something it since I bought the bike back in June but never got around to it. Used Chat GPT for the exact size and ordered 10 stainless screws from ebay for £2.89. Bargain.
  19. Thanks, it's my everyday commuter bike. I have a new Hornet to play with but the CBF does most of the work. Old and new
  20. Dropped daughter no2 up the stables this morning. Seemed silly not to have a bimble about before going home.
  21. Had my Honda CBF600 MoTed two weeks ago. Passed but rear brakes pads were an advisory so did them this afternoon. Easy enough if a bit mucky. Old Pads Mucky calliper All clean up and back together. I did notice the anti squeal pads are missing so will endeavour to source some replacements. I was going to change the brake fluid but it is spotless so okay for now. I think the fronts will need doing buy the next oil change so will do it all then.

I think that's the relevant point. Yes the copper is being a dick in that instant but ignoring him could open a whole can of worms. I wouldn't like it either, but would do as directed, isn't worth my time or effort to rail against it. For me it would be moment in my day that's best forgotten and time to move on.
  23. I know a chap locally that has a dual motor Tesla, when he got it a couple of years ago he took a couple of us out for a spin, basically to show us what it would do. Very quick, brutally so I would say. I am not sure I liked it to be honest, yes it was very quick but just didn't really feel right to me. Normally when you are cracking on, in or on a piston engined vehicle you have all the drama of the noise and gear changes that builds the whole experience. In my friends 'Dual Motor' as he calls it, it just felt like you were being thrown around both in acceleration and regen, took a lot of the fun out of it for me. I know my friend was showing off, showing us what it could do and that was probably the whole point of taking us out. So I haven't driven a EV but have ridden in a few, Zoe, ID3, Polstar as well, none of the drivers have behaved in the way I described in my first post. I think using the extremes of the performance of any vehicle on a public road can be dangerous to other road users. I have seen 3 EV Nobs locally, don't get me wrong I have seen plenty Piston engines Nobs as well as 2 wheeled Nobs. I don't know if I fancy an EV, although it would suit the sort of motoring we do, very rarely go more than 50 miles from home in the car. My Mrs loves her old E81 BMW too much. I wish she would sell it for something more economical.
  24. I had a mate who bought an ex police white BMW K1100RT at auction. He had a white lid as well, the traffic used to react in just that way for him, never a problem filtering behind him.
  25. Had a decent run down to St Mawes on the Roseland Peninsula today with 4 mates. Stunning weather if a little cold. Loads of crap on the roads from the recent rain but still very enjoyable. Meet before the off St Mawes Looking out to the Carrick Rodes Stopped in Mevagissey on the way back for coffee Only about 60 miles but nice to be out on my Hornet with a few of my codger mates. And yes I resemble that remark
