I was actually quite lucky, I'd just reached a part of the dual carriageway where there is a area of 3 or 4 houses and a barrier between them and the A6, a van driver had seen me pushing it so stopped and offered to take me to get fuel and bring me back to the bike- there are still some decent folk out there. The strangest thing is I could not figure out how my fuel got nicked in the first place. Not only was the cap locked it's fuel injection, so needs the pump running, but I definitely had a nearly full tank as I filled up every 4 days due to work commute and this was a weekend and a regular top up day ready for a bimble

I use to ride my 500 to work (and back), for 4 miles either way. When I did the usual maintenance/cleaning at the weekend I use to drain the breather tube, that had a stopper fitted to prevent leaking. The amount of dirty emulsified crap that came out was ridiculous,and was the result of the engine never reaching a decent temperature, and meant more frequent oil changes. Also possible its one of the reasons the conrod broke

Judging by the colour of that oil I would probably have ran some engine flush through before adding the new oil

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but LEDs do not appear to have a visible beam, ie all you see is the focus point. If I turn my spots on they are very bright, but only at the point the light hits the ground, yet if I shine a normal bulbed torch on the same area it also illuminates the surrounding area between torch and road

Someone may come along and put me right, but if you just mask the lens you end up with a daylight only MOT, meaning you could not ride after what is known as "lights on" which is when Street lights are turned on, not just when it's dark

The idea behind the kick up was just to illuminate hedges and other stuff at the nearside as well as the road, I'm not certain its a legal requirement like the RHS

Isn't there any way of creating a mirror image of your first pic? The reason being that's the pattern they look for in the MOT. you don't necessarily need the high beam side to match, but the low beam is critical

Yes, be very careful about headlights. I bought a brand new replacement for my 500,as the lens was plastic and beginning to fog. Headlight came from a reputable dealer so you would expect it to be OK. Err, sadly no. light was really good quality, being all metal, and fitted in place like a glove. I wired it all up, turned it on and the difference was blinding (excuse the pun). It was then I noticed the glaringly obvious, the beam pattern was the wrong way round,like yours. I took it all off, repacked ready to return then contacted the seller. The response? It's CE marked so legal to use, so would not accept its return. I pointed out the CE mark just meant it was made in, and for, the European market where they ride on the wrong side of the road but no joy. Its still stuck on a shelf in my lock-up
