  1. I had rust bits on the side plates of the chain. Was using muc off chain cleaner and also used Wurth chain cleaner. They didn't do much for it. People on here recommended paraffin. What a difference. Chain is clean and shiny and no more 'orange bits' I use Wurth Dry Chain lube or what ever it Is and for once it really is no flick what so ever. Highly recommend it. I've heard people use gear oil instead as lube so currently looking into this
  2. Good luck I always found the questions easy but struggle on the hazard perception on both my car and bike theories. Can see the hazard just to early. Oh well bogof has given some great advice, wish someone would have explained it to Me like that
  3. Good luck pal! Sure you'll be fine!
  4. Bloody hell!
  5. A great cause, unfortunately wayyyy to far away from me but I hope people turn up and a fair bit of dosh made
  6. I failed mod one twice, first time was for a foot down in the u turn and second for not using the back brake on the emergency stop. Third time round nailed it and was told, 'you stopped far shorter than everyone else does, you don't need to stop that fast' ??? Then failed mod 2 once. As said before, better to mess up in controlled conditions than out alone! It's all experience. As others have said cover the rear brake as a safety, can't fail you then. If you want to and I would, use it, but lightly. Good luck mate
  7. When I did my car test my instructor told me then once stopped to go handbrake gear indicator. Working up the car. Now when I did my bike then last year, I always turned my indicator off after I stopped. Instructor and examiner never had anything to say so I assume this would be the thing to do. Plus there is no chance of leaving your indicator on and getting a minor/major or worse a car pull out on you! As for the observation, my instructor said without doubt do a life saver for turning right. when turning left, unless changing lanes or you've just passed something on your inside, ie push bike or parked vehicle not to bother with a left shoulder check. Just mirror signal maneuver
  8. Wish I had one near me. All I had was a Hein Gericke, then it shut got a good deal on my girlfriends lid though. Back on topic there seems to be some good reviews of j&s and from what I've seen of their online stuff it looks decent too.
  9. I run a car aswell as my bike and it is so much more expensive. The bike is my toy, albeit 125cc at the moment
  10. I have a YBR125, which with heavy wind will sit at 62 ish. I've seen 70 not windy. Didn't push it any further. Go for the DAS route. You already have some experience so should be a good move. As others have said then you can get whatever you want and not worry about restrictions
  11. I'd imagine not but you'll have to get others to confirm it
  12. What size bike? 125 yes on a cbt over that I don't think so..
  13. I've w watched quite a few of his videos very informative and seems a nice guy. He has another channel for personal stuff and its good to see he doesn't stay in instructor mode all the time
  14. Hello buddy. You don't have to do the theory test in order to do your cbt. As for starting on a geared 125, do it! You won't regret it. I started out last year, I knew nothing about bikes, they have two wheels and are nothing like a car but riding a bike is something I've always wanted to do since young. I got to my CBT, and before I knew it it was the end of the day and I could ride about, sketchily but however I thought it was a personal achievement. I did Go back for some more time on the bike before my road ride because I was really nervous - once out on the road it was so enjoyable! Sorry for the life story but definitely start on a geared 125. Will be good practice for when you get your own. One thing I would suggest is to read up on the highway code just so you have a good idea of how being on the road should work (two lads on my CBT had to come back because they hadn't a clue how the road worked, however as I had a car licence for 2 years - the difference showed) Chris
  15. Good luck, mate. Don't let your nerves get to you and you should be fine. I was unlucky on my first go because I was one kph out both times on the emergency stop (on a cg125). Second time I got nervous and put a foot down in the u turn! Doh, what licence you taking?
  16. Looks good matey. Shame about the engine mount.
