  1. I was in exactly the same boat that's why I brought my 2012 model brand new. I find the gearbox does exactly the same as yours, some times clunky some not also popping into neutral. As said the mpg is good, I don't think I have ever had it under 100mpg and I don't ride like a commuter LOL, I use this bike for fun! Beats almost anything away from the lights and will sit at 60mph ok. Great little bike, I'm considering an xj6 for my next bike! Needs more power.
  2. Hello mate, as others said don't let it get to you practice makes perfect. As for the bike, i have a YBR125, the tyres may be narrow but it leans over quite away considering! So don't worry about that. Just take some of the advice given by others, make sure pressures are up, nice throttle control through the corner and lean as much as you feel comfortable.
  3. Happy days, glad it's sorted!
  4. Good luck buddy, just ride safe, do your observations and then you should be posting up about passing mod 2
  5. Just wait it out, that's what I reckon..
  6. Well having just ridden home from work, I find the whole lifesavers more comfortable to do! Thanks for pointing this out! Will read up on the blind spots when I get up!!
  7. I probably am, I go for a right over your shoulder look, I was never taught life savers by my instructor but it's something I knew I should do so did them as I thought they should be done... If you google motorcycle blind spot or similar you can find pics that will give you an idea where your blind spots are. The way my instructor showed me was with me on the bike she stood behind me to one side where I could see her in the mirrors and then walked forward until I could no longer see her. Thanks I shall have a look! As for the rider scan I ride a naked or I would have one already.
  8. I probably am, I go for a right over your shoulder look, I was never taught life savers by my instructor but it's something I knew I should do so did them as I thought they should be done...
  9. As said above, a hefty chain if you haven't got one, chain lube, paddock stands and cleaning products!
  10. I wear specs full time and understand what you mean, I do still do life savers tho, whenever I deem I need one turning right etc. I haven't struggled to be honest, I find that my winder jacket impeeds my life savers because my helmet catches on it. That's about it.
  11. Probably easier to buy new indicators tbh.
  12. I went, got the girlfriend some new boots and Me a leather jacket new trousers and new gloves... As well as a battery optimizer. Happy days
  13. Should be heading up on the Saturday, in the car though...never been before so hope its good...
  14. I've got Scala rider q2 pro multi set. Can't fault them. Noise cancellation is great even at 60 with the visor up. My OH and I have only just purchased these and think they are grand! Got mine from Burrows GPS
  15. Pretty sure you dont need to apply for a provisional because you already have a car license. The entitlements on your counterpart are provisional and your photo card are what you are entitled to drive. That's my understanding... Could be wrong but when I learnt to ride I never applied for a provisional because I already have a full UK car license.
  16. I have some of the professional halfords tools and they are great. Standard are crap though! Adjusted my chain for the first time the other day, would highly recommend a Haynes manual
  17. Hopefully next time, head up pal
  18. I haven't got an oxford stormex but have on similar. Used to take me ages but now I work from front to back and get it done in a minute or so.
  19. I have a YBR and will be tensioning the chain soon, I've never done it myself but was done at dealers at first service. Any chance of pictures to go with the excellent write up?
  20. Cheers pal, shall get some soon I think
  21. This good for any chain stu?
  22. Unlucky matey! I failed mod 1 twice before passing. Thought it would never happen! On my third go though it all Just clicked and felt 'right'. Don't worry just go again
