  1. My friend showed me this neat gadget he has for riding in the rain. It is a rubber tube with a small rubber blade on it that fits over your gloved left thumb while riding. You use it like a mini windscreen wiper! Some gloves have this built in as well. I don't know if either work, but I'd like to try the thumb wiper.
  2. I have the exact year and model CG125 and had a similar intermittant electrical problem before I got my big bike - I lived with it until parking it. It could possibly be a switch somewhere in the system like Bill suggested, or something simpler like a loose battery ground. Does it do it while cold? Hot? Is the battery losing charge? Does the headlight get brighter when you rev it?
  3. Hein gericke has leathers on sale at the moment... http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/1_9 I've been wanting to get a 2-piece suit myself, but I haven't the slightest idea what to get
  4. I just clicked that I plan to come to this. To save me reading through the 10 pages is the starting time confirmed at 10am (like it says it might be on the first post)? Also, is there a meeting place anywhere in the a.m. on the day or are peeps just meeting at the training site? Thanks!
  5. I'm up for this - I'll most likely be coming down the M6 - up for meeting anywhere
  6. I think I can make - will confirm with The Boss tonight!
  7. Also good for eyeglass wearers like me -much easier to put glasses on than my full face. I'm thinking about replacing my shoei full face lid (raid 2) with their flip front one. I do hear they are noisier at speed though, but with earplugs I don't think it will matter that much...
  8. I'll probably go to this if it happens - Sunday is a bit better for me. (I should have a new bike by then...!)
  9. I am basically in the same situation - I commute and carry a backpack every day, which gets old. At one point a while back I got a big tank bag, which holds a lot but I find it uncomfy to commute around town with. When I was recently on vacation I rented a motorbike which had a rack mounted on the back with a soft bag attached - it was big enough to hold a full face helmet and some other things which was incredibly useful. I want to get something similar for my commute.
  10. Went out to this today with wife and kids - pretty diverse event with classics, customs, sports bikes and everything in between. Great weather - hope everybody else had a nice day too.
  11. R & G are a good and trusted brand name for crash protectors (a/k/a crash bobbins and bar end protectors) - you'll have to google around to find some that fit if they make them for the 125 (someone might be along soon who knows). Another option might be engine crash bars - motech makes them for a bunch of makes, but there are others as well. Again, you'll have to google around or someone might be along soon to suggest a supplier. You could always phone a Honda dealer (or David Silver spares) as well. Good luck
  12. Lots of rideouts around the whole peak district - must be close enough to you to join in on some
  13. I'll probably come down after lunchtime for a while with the fam.
  14. I think what Rollazuki meant to say was: "Bring me your bike and I will fix it"!
  15. Weisse have a textile jacket that I recently read got rated very highly and was pretty cheap - it was a Ride best buy in a review a while back. I have Weisse trousers - they were pretty cheap (£80ish) and work great including being totally waterproof (in Manchester that says something). I love the Rukka stuff mentioned about but you could easily blow almost double your budget on a jacket alone... A textile jacket I looked at recently that was great is the Rev'it Cayenne - not priced one yet in the UK (I tried one on in a shop in the US... should have bought it!) but they are great quality.
  16. A bungie net is probably the cheapest way to tie down a small backpack or something to your pillion spot. Next would probably be a decent backpack (depending on what you want to use it for, you might want a nice waterproof one). For a little more cash You ccould get something a bit more permanent and convenient like a tail pack that is a soft container that straps to the underside of your seat where the pillion would normally sit. To keep your pillion roost (and give yourself more room) you could get a rack and put a soft or hard topcase on it.
  17. Back home - thanks for the day out and suggestion for the picnic spot!
  18. Heading out shortly with my crew to follow in the car closer to lunchtime.
  19. This sounds great - the wife and sprogs are likely coming for lunch via 4 wheels and I'll take the bike a bit earlier. Anyone meeting up to head over from Manchester? I know the A56 route between Manchester to Sheffield pretty well - snake pass is awesome (try not to be too distracted by the scenery) and the Ladybower is beautiful. West of the little bridge is a layby that has a tea/butty stand, and just east of the bridge is the scenic pullover for the reserve. Where abouts is the picnic spot relative to these? The spot marked on this map: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en ... =UTF8&z=11 makes it look like there is a little pullover on the south side of the road west of the butty stand pullover?
  20. I'd like to do this as well - will have to clear it with the family unit before I can commit, but it is likely I can do it. I'd love to head over early Sunday if you end up doing it that way TC and Philgale.
  21. I use an autocom which works extremely well for rider to pillion communication using the included speaker and mic sets. It is more expensive than your price range, but in my opinion is probably worth it. The speaker sets install into your helmet with adhesive tape and velcro. The autocom and other units like it (starcom, a few others) typically have a pre-amp built in that overcomes the problem parapanfan talks about. Also, it has built in "vox" control that damps ambient sound when a mic is activated by talking into it. As well, I plug my ipod in and have a bluetooth receiver for my tomtom rider satnav and mobile phone, all controlled through the autocom main unit. Finally, I have a set of kenwood 2 way radios for bike to bike communication (mainly for when my wife rides her own bike), which also work through the autocom main unit. Depending on what you really want a comm setup for, I'd guess you get what you pay for... Good luck!
  22. I think I saw picks somewhere of somebody with clip-on bars that had a sat-nav monted onto one of the mirror stems. Good luck
  23. My first choice would be a small tank bag like stu suggested. Barring that I'd definitely go for something like a Ram Mount - I use one on my bike for my Tomtom rider (it actually came with it) and bought a second one for my iPod in my car. http://www.ram-mount.com/ You can probably find one on eBay as well.
