MtotheJ Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Right, so I have fitted an aftermarket exhaust and want to tidy up the rear end of my bike and put some new indicators on. I was a the show today and got royally confused by what I need if I want to fit LED indicators! Do I just need a resistor? Or do i need a relay? Or both? And how do i fit that to the indicators? MtotheJ Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Okie dokie, would this relay do? Do I need two?Sorry but im a bit dense when it comes to electrical stuff! Quote
Guest Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 you only need one, find yours on the bike if its a 3 pin like this then its a one for one swap.. Quote
MtotheJ Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Ahh right, will have to take the rear off again tomorrow. Unless anyone on here knows?....Anyone? Cheers Frankie! Quote
Colin the Bear Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Because led indicators have a different resistance to standard bulb indicators they flash at too fast a rate. This problem used to be solved by fitting an in series resistor. Nowadays they recommend fitting a different flasher relay. The relay is a direct swap and is bike specific. So you need the right one. It should be an easy swap over. Explained and examples here.http://www.toolparts.co.uk/acatalog/LED_Indicators.html Quote
MtotheJ Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Perfeck! Thanks Colin. Think I know what I'm looking for now Quote
