  1. Was told not to brake too hard for the first few hundred miles or so to make sure the pads dont glaze over
  2. Ah so you see what I mean by feeling easily 3x the power? -Well it is! Dont really notice it until it hits the top end but scared myself a bit when I hit the powerband! I gave the pistons the most through clean possible when I put the new lines on so I doubt its that. I think I must not have been generous enough on the copper slip. Will have take it apart at some point
  3. Do you reckon that is all do-able without taking the pads out the calliper? Or not recommended?
  4. Hey all, Haven't been around for aaaaages due to my quest to become a fully qualified solicitor, nearly there (kind of) Anywayyyy, just fitted new braided hoses and brake pads to my bike a couple of weeks ago and got the restriction off the bike today (WOOOOOOO!!!!) and Ive noticed that I have a bit of a squeak when applying the front brake. I know that the answer may well be "take apart the callipers put copper ease on the back of the pads and put back together again" but I was wandering if there was anything else I could do before getting to that stage. Havent got much time with exams and revision and all . Thanks!

    Battery issue?

Hey everyone! Long time no speak! Just having some slight issues with my bike...well I think its an issue. I didnt ride for about a month due to the snow and not being at home etc and my battery had run down. Bought a charger and it took around 24 hours to charge fully but then was fine. Went out for a ride (about 30 mins before my hands were extremely painful!) and then went back to uni. Have come back a couple of weeks later, tried to start the bike again and it doesnt want to go. Its turning over and coughing and spluttering but not starting. Should the battery have already discharged itself in 2 weeks? Do I need to think about getting a new battery or is this normal? Cheers!
  6. You use the normal petrol station. Make sure its unleaded (95 unless you fancy wasting your money on a higher octance). Normally the green pump. As for oil, make sure you get good quality two stroke oil, not crappy scooter stuff. When I had mine I used Silkolene Pro race 2t stuff. About £14 a bottle if i remember and did nearly 2000 miles without any problems. There is loads of stuff on the forum about two strokes so have a look around and read up on them!
  7. Agreed! There seem to be a tonne more manufacturers at the excel show so, fingers crossed, it will be better than the NEC!
  8. Really nice pieces of kit. I was lucky enough to be given mine and just had to by the fittings for my particular bike, very handy. Really good from simple stuff, like lubing the chain, to bigger jobs like removing the exhaust and fiddling with other bits and pieces.
  9. Going on the Friday. Honda are going to be there along with Harley and Aprillia and a number of others who werent at the NEC so fingers crossed it will be worth it! It will mark one year since I bought all my kit for my first bike
  10. Not essential but protects the tank and can break up the plain colour over a tank to make it look a bit more erm...funky?
  11. They are flipping expensive to replace batteries but, Id rather pay the money and it alert people if someone's trying to fiddle with it. I've got the Oxford one and the batteries are still going after 2 and a half months with it on pretty much all the time, minus a couple of days here and there. If its between a £30 normal one and and a £60 alarmed one, Id go for the alarmed any day.
  12. Sounds like an awesome trip! Would love to be able to do this if it weren't for uni work and stuff. Let us know how it goes, and take a load of pics!
  13. Have no idea about similar helmets but, have you tried taking the cheek pads out, or the whole lining if just the cheek pads arent removal, and washing them? Did this with my Shoei ones and it plumped them up again. Worked wonders when i did it.
  14. If there is no snow on the ground and it's above freezing then I think I should be able to come!
  15. If it fits you well then I wouldnt be put off by anything else. There is nothing worse than having a helmet that doesnt fit properly. Youll be wanting to stop every 5 seconds and take it off! I have the XR1000 (model down) and it's perfectly bearable noise wise. Plus I dont wear earplugs...which I should. Everyone feel free to tell me off
  16. Alpinestars - http://www.getgeared.co.uk/Alpinestars_ ... cket_T-RC1 Would love one of those jackets myself
  17. May seem to defeat the object of having a pinlock but could you put some anti fog stuff on it ?
  18. Sorry Mikey! Been out of action the last few days, fecking flu .Will try and make future meets though.
  19. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I really want to come on this now!!!! But Ive said that Ill go to the one on the 13th to the Ace. Ya reckon I can convince Mikey to come to Matlock?
  20. Well done! Especially in this weather! Good luck with mod 2, let us know how it goes!
  21. Just make sure it's not the same problem with my squeaking 125 at low speeds, a bolt coming out the axle ad shearing the swing arm I think I am right in saying (someone correct me if i'm wrong) that if the rear brake is dsic, there could be dirt behind the pads causing them to squeak. So you need to give 'em a clean.
