test bike 125cc or 500cc

Recommended Posts

i always thought at 17 or any age when going for your restricted 33 bhp licence you had to ride a 500cc motorbike a suzuki gs500 for example but have been told by an instructor that you can take the test on a 125cc and still ride 33bhp any sized bike is the instructor right?

do you take the test on a 125cc (12bhp) or a 500cc (guessing less than or 33bhp)

If you are under 21 doing test or going in for the restricted licence out of choice, then you can take test on a 125 and then are restricted for 2 years, basically meaning can ride any bike up to 33bhp/25kw.

Hope helps

For standard m/c licence (not the light m/c one) the bike must be over 120cc but not more than 125cc and capable of minimum 100kph - when passed all modules you are then restricted for 2 years to 33bhp.

Which is why some people pass as above and get a restricted larger cc bike which they can de - restrict after the 2 years is up.

I am so glad that at last I will be able to buy a Suzuki performance bike in India through regular outlets without having to pay outrageous customs duty. I can’t wait to buy a 200 – 500 cc bike that has dashing looks and, of course, superb handling, light weight in addition to scorching speed. My budget is about 5 lacs.
