Mk5Centurion
I bought a new battery (Varta) for my old ZZR600 bus, charged up fine on the optimiser and sitting pretty with the "Charged and Maintaining" light on. Subsequently I unplugged it from the charger, and now that I've rebuilt the bikes carbs the battery is back on the charger - where its been for the last 2 days and it still only says "Charging" and not "Charged". Surely it should be charged by now?

Colin the Bear
Disconnect the battery charger and measure the voltage across the terminals. That should let you know what's happening with the battery. Make sure there's fluid in the battery. How long has the battery been stood? Never used an optimiser. Don't they put in differing amounts of charge depending on what the battery needs? As a last resort you could see what the instruction manual for it says? Bogof
for the last 2 days and it still only says "Charging" and not "Charged". Surely it should be charged by now? Disconnect charger from battery. Switch off charger. Leave for 5 mins. Reconnect battery to charger. Switch on charger. It's worth a try, as I have known chargers to get "locked" in one mode and a reset usually cures it.
