Ah Bex...glad you got knees back up again. I think it is a man thing this knee down stuff, I think maybe they think women watchers will see it and want to have their babies.

and i think thats a very sexist comment, SOME women may not see the appeal, as is the case for some blokes, as evidenced here...that doesnt mean none of us want to :P

i wouldnt ever dream of trying it on the road, but fully intend to have more track time this year, simply because i enjoy it ( cant beat no oncoming traffic), and i i ever get that far over and knee down , then all well and good....no its not the holy grail, but i understand why its done and definitely dont rule out wanting to get there myself.

ps i know a couple of girls who race , and they feel the same about it as the guys :P

maybe hunky guys will watch and want to have OUR babies :P :P

I never get that. Blokes will show off by speeding, knee down, wheelies, stoppies etc but how does that impress a girl? Noone will get on the back of your bike with you riding like that, surely its more of a turn off than a turn on?

To be honest i want to get knee down, and I want to wheelie. But I will practice in a quiet place with literally noone around and a very slim chance of traffic being on that road at all. I also do a slow run up and down to look out for pot holes/stones etc (same with roundabouts, a pilot run is always worth it) but then do these things for my own reasons. Mainly I want to know how to do as much as i can with the bike, and for my own thrill but I wouldnt do it in front of mates. After I ended up iin hospital after riding with them, they know I now ride my own ride and they will wait for me at the next junction. But i certainly wouldnt do it infront of any non-biker female friends, they would just think I'm a complete dick

As for knee downs

How easy after riding a bike is it to get your knee down properly then. Can it take years to master it?

depends on your bike, your flexibility, the fit of your leathers, the camber of the road, the size of your bike compared to your body build and your confidence in physics..

some will question the above but trust me, getting your knee down on a bike that is either way too big or small for you whilst wearing leathers that dont allow for your immobile hips and legs to get into the correct position makes an awkward task nigh on impossible. as perfectly demonstrated by me whilst hunched up on a tiny little track prepped cbr600 at silverstone. from my impression of "captain immobile on a mini moto" you never would have guessed that i used to be a kneedown junkie.

some bikes are really not easy to lean right over and will resist your efforts where as some bikes will drop into the perfect angle of dangle with almost no provocation.

true, it is fun when you first do it and youll grin from ear to ear when that slider grazes the tarmac but youll soon learn that it makes bugger all difference to quick road riding and will not make you faster.

Ah yes sorry for sexist remark but to my knowledge men can't yet have babies...apart from that american bloke who is really a woman :-)

Actually my comment was tongue in cheek when made (now waiting for reference to porn quip) Ha!
