I just booked my CBT and the instructor suggested I used an automatic as it will be my first time on a motorised vehicle.

I am buying an manual RS so ideally would like to learn on a manual, but I really don't want to fail either..

Suggestions?

Go manual, they are easy peasy once you've gotten to grips with it, and providing he's a decent instructor, then he should be able to teach it to you!

yes go manual its the only way to ride......

"Start as you mean to Go" on is my advice

There seems to be this odd notion going round that CBT is a test. It's not, it's just a course you have to complete - and provided you've ridden a bicycle before, you should be fine. At worst you may have to come back for another half day, which is no big deal.

Tell your instructor you want to start on a manual... if you really struggle with it then you can always switch to an automatic scooter at some point during the morning.

Manual. Gotta do it sometime and may aswell do it from the off.

Automatic is a waste of time in my opinion.

I agree with all of you! It's just

that when I called instructor today he said it is 50/50 chance on passing on a manual if you have never rode a motorbike. I'm a quick learner so should be ok I hope.

Your the customer, you tell him...go manual its actually easier with a clutch for the slow control maneuvres as well!

Id never used a geared bike before when I did my cbt and am sure lots of others havent either!

:stupid: what he said! he's just trying to make his life easier!

tell him you want to do it on a manual.

:stupid: yep

ok the first half day maybe a little tricker

but the rest of the day/ long run = much better, id rather learn on a manual while under instruction/ someone elses bike then on ur own

Go for manual as automatic is for girls..... Really ? http://www.yakhnichmotorsport.ru/photos ... hoto/s2010

Glad you said that and not me ...better would have been "automatic is for chavs" no chance of offending anyone worthwhile that way

If you pass on an automatic you are limited to automatic

If you pass on manual you can choose either

Why limit yourself
