ContourHD 1080P Helmet Camera

Recommended Posts

I Bought a new ContourHD 1080P last year, cost £247 Amazon is a safe place to buy.

Powerd by a lith rechargeable battery via a USB connector, the battery is identical to the old Nokia phone batteries 6310i Lasts about 6 hours

Memory is via mini SD card which comes with 2Gb I have also purchased a 16gb card

It is programable and has two swirchable built in settings 1080P 30 FPS and 720P 60 FPS but you can change this according to your preferences

Built in Mic with volume control (accessed via a control sofware package)

Easy to switch on and set up using a simple on and off switch for power and then a glove easy stop and start recording switch.

Quality is superb.

Examples of recent capture here.

It comes with its own video editing software which has recently been upgraded

I would recommend it if you have the cash to spare...

There are some good cheap cameras out there

Check this out http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150503218686

bought 2 of these after having seen some discussion elsewhere and this clip on YouTube:

they cost me €16 (delivered) from a UK supplier on ebay and for that money it ain't half bad.

The results are not as good as you would get from something like the ContourHD or GoPro but then it only costs a fraction of the price.

These are being used a lot for various adventure type sports, kayaking, surfing,(with waterproof containers), hang-gliders, etc., and of course bikers. There's lots of sample footage on the web, just do a search.

I even saw a clip where a guy put one in a urine specimen jar, taped it to the end of a pole and then dipped it into some rocky pools. Results were surprisingly OK. However, fitted inside the visor like on the YouTube clip above gets over the weatherproofing problem.

It comes with a clip, but others have mounted it with velcro or on a suction cup added to a fairing or other on the bike. I had mine clipped onto the nose part on the inside of the helmet; worked really well.

Hi Nomad, I didn't want to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking at getting one of these and was wondering how difficult it is to attach it to your helmet? Also, does it do any damage to the helmet if you want to take it off and is it waterproof?

If you're able to give any info I'd be really grateful!

Thanks
