martlewis Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Got a slow puncture on my relatively new back tyre. Can't find any sign of damage but it goes down over the course of a few days. Is it possible to use anything to seal the leak? Quote
sparkeh9 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I dunno if you can or not, but I dont think I'd trust it even if it were repaired. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 use some soapy water around the bead of the tyre it might not be sealed properly an around the valve if thats the case go back to bike shop u got them from and see if they will reseal it Quote
Danny-B- Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 If its a puncture its perfectly safe to get it plugged, mines been plugged for months and its still fine. Quote
Phill_vtr Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Ring around a few tyre dealers/fitters and see which ones will do it but do it quickly. If there is a nail or something in it, it can move around and damage the inside of the tire. I had a nail that had been rubbing on the inside of the tyre wall. It would have been repairable if I had caught it earlier Quote
martlewis Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Just found a nail in the tyre. It's pretty much in middle of tread so hopefully repairable. Anyone know any mobile tyre fitters in Sheffield? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 if you can get the wheel off yourself and take it to tyre shop will be lot cheaper than a mobile fitter or ride it to shop and let them do it Quote

martlewis Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Ok wheel coming off tonight. Will drop it in a CMC tomorrow. Quote
martlewis Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Back wheels off ready for taking to shop tomorrow. Do I take off the brake and sprocket so I'm just sending the wheel or do I send it complete? On a lighter note the rear breakes don't want changing yet even tho I thought they did, at least that'll save a little money. eastanglianbiker Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 leave the disc on no point unbolting it for no reason and as sprocket carrier just pulls out take it off makes it easier for them as they would remove it anyway Quote
