spare pillion seat into a luggage rack?

I love my Yamaha TRX850 but taking a bag everywhere is a real pain in the ass. I was thinking of getting a spare pillion seat and taking the cushion off it and bolting on mountings for a luggage rack or a top box (it'll look crap on a sportbike but they get dead handy). Anyone else done this conversion? Any tips? Good or Bad hehe

Personally I used to strap a tailpack or tank bag top piece to my rear seat. Got a plastic cover now, wich looks nice. biu I cant strap the tailpack to it.

- watch this space - I'm thinking of removing the cover, design fabricating a box to contain a scrolling display sign on the back then loops and stuff.

Maybe a top box base like...

something like that, maybe a bit smaller

Any suggestions? I need another pillion seat if someone has a spare one? There's nothing on eBay as usual.
